My Dear, Sir: Thank you so, much for this fine video. Loved your preview of the FE2. Personally I prefer the FE. I prefer the lower shutter speeds than than the top speed the FE2 offers. Loved the photos, so cool. Plus, I really appreciated the fact which lens' you would recommend. Some of us go over board on lens' as opposed to just one camera and one lens. God Bless and take care. The FE2 is one of my favorites. That viewfinder is one of the best. So easy to focus for these aging eyes. Also, the film advance is a mechanical marvel. Mine is overexposing by about a stop, so I may send it off for calibration. Right now I’ve just dialed in -1 exp comp.
Very nice review video and images Alex - thanks! Through the years I have picked up the FE, FE2 and FM2. Fabulous cameras, though I mainly shoot the Mamiya C220 TLR camera. On the FE, you can get a few extra shots before frame one, if you are careful - that's nice.

I have been shooting with it for a few years. I am not a video maker like you, but I do have a few with images from that camera, if you are interested.
With the FE2, the camera will not activate the meter until you reach frame 1, but it will still shoot at 1/250 (mechanical setting) for the couple frames before frame 1. It's still possible to get 1 or 2 extra frames if you are careful.

Hi, quick question please, on average roughly how long it takes until the batteries needs to be replaced? How many film rolls, or perhaps how many weeks/months of regular use, etc ?
@@AlexLuyckxPhoto thanks for the reply Alex.. If you have only replaced them once in around 2 years.. I guess it's safe to say the FE2 batteries can last much longer than modern DSLRs batteries (before they need to be recharged) 😁
Alex, I think you need to check your facts about the Nikon FE2. It was released in 1983, made until 1987, and was sold until 1989. It was not released in 1987 and sold until 2001. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikon_FE2 FWIW, the FE2 was my first film SLR and I chose it because of the 1/4000 shutter, match-needle metering display, aperture priority shooting, 1/250 flash sync speed, and the wonderful form factor.
@@AlexLuyckxPhoto I agree that while the AF-D lenses also work perfectly well on the FE2 because they are Ais compatible and they have an aperture ring, they are not as sweet-feeling to focus as dedicated manual focus Nikkor lenses. That doesn't mean they aren't a good value because they can just as easily be used on an autofocus Nikon film body (F80, F100, F5) or a Nikon DSLR with in-body focusing motor. I use my AF-D lenses on my Nikon FE2, my Nikon F80, and my Nikon D700. My personal Nikkor lens collection includes: 17-35mm f/2.8D, 28mm f/3.5 Ai, 50mm f/1.4D, 85mm f/1.8D, Nikkor-P 105mm f/2.5 (Ai converted), 70-210mm f/4 Series E, and Nikkor-H 300mm f/4.5 Ai.

I have an FE-2. It is my favorite of the compact Nikons I own. The fast shutter speeds come in handy here in the always sunny US desert southwest.
