This is amazing! I love that buzzfeed decided to do a video on Service Dogs! They have really raised Service Dog awareness! I have a Service Dog in Training that will be finished in 6 months. Edit: my dog is being trained to alert me if my heart goes to fast and I might pass out and to alert me before I have an anxiety attack it will also assist with my mobility such as “brace” to help me stand for these dogs it was called “steady” she will help me with balance and going up stairs also much more. Kind of like Deacon and Luke put together.
5:37. I like how was shot to look like the dog went to the school by themselves and they are running back to their home like a child returning from school.
I was recently diagnosed with ptsd and it was recommended that I get a service dog. I got a young puppy to raise up into a service dog. He's already showing great ability to listen and learn. He's only 13 weeks old and is just a great candidate. He's confident with new situations and not aggressive at all.
This is so important. Thank u buzzfeed for educating the public about different things service dogs can help their owners with, and that service dogs should never be pet. Thank u so much.
My physio therapist is blind and lost her service dog just a few months ago 😢 her "new" dog is right at this moment trained in "puppy school" and I hope he'll be learning good and quick, so he eventually can be there for her 🤞🏻🐕 good luck to all the service dogs in training at "doggie do good" 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I really do enjoy training dogs, and hope to join an institution just like this one some day. Knowing that your helping someone, and will change someone’s life is an incredible will to work forward for. Enjoying it and being around dogs is just the cherry on top. ☺️
This is my absolute favourite buzzfeed series so far! I just got a service dog in training, and he’s doing super well! I’m glad to see this series here! I love it, well done!
I'm in the beginning of the process of getting a service dog and this is making me both excited and more comfortable with it all. Thanks for this series!
@@piglet_899 Honestly (and sadly) a lot of service dog training in the US involves aversive methods. I guess they just didn't want to show them off on camera as much.
@@rennsible they use the bandanas strictly to cover them so they don’t have to deal with uneducated people like you. If you prefer strictly positive based training? Cool! There’s science to back it. If you prefer balanced training? Cool! There’s science to back it too. It’s all about personal preference and when training highly skilled dogs sometimes it is necessary. Some of the dogs were on martingale collars, some were on prongs. So they obviously choose based on the individual dog, which is all you can ask for. Train the dog in front of you. And run your dog not your mouth.
@@pammielavery3182 Interesting how the Royal Dutch Guide Dog Foundation and the most well-known Dutch Assistance Dog Facility have never needed to use anything but a standard harness and flat-buckle collar to train their dogs to a very high standard without any issues for decades, but Americans can't seem to manage. Hell we even train Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd police dogs with only positivity. You'd think it has something to do with the length of the training process. Or maybe it's the competence of the trainers. Maybe Europe is just more developed in general to be honest, seeing how your elections are currently going.
Based on the description for what Mr. Pip will be doing in the video, he is an ESA, not a service dog. This is an important distinction. ESAs do not have the same rights under the ADA that service dogs do, and lately many ignorant people have been passing off either pets or ESAs as service dogs because ESAs go through much less specific task training than service dogs do, and most people don’t know the difference.
as mr. pip's owner, i'd like to point out that he is a service dog. since coming home, he has also learned to detect meltdowns and alert me to them, as well as "go get help" for when my vertigo causes me to fall. he is currently learning how to pick things up to assist me when vertigo hits and he has learned to use his happy command in both meltdowns and vertigo episodes. i have generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, and symptoms of PTSD from trauma. mr. pip is a psychiatric service dog who also assists with my mobility issues. check us out on instagram @servicedogpip to learn more
Oh my gosh you took them to Autumn heaven! I help a blind couple with their mail every week, and the wife and her blind sister are going to Apple Hill and I have been invited to go with them next month on and organized tour with other blind people. I'm sure there's going to be at least one or two service dogs there, and I absolutely adore animals. Even when I go on the bus and if someone boards with a service dog, even though I know I can't say anything, I am comforted by the temporary company of a service animal.

Love how they try to cover her prong collars with bandanas 😂 great training, only thing I'd say is that the prongs should be at the very top of their necks, not that far down.
Heather Sullivan Because if used properly, they do not choke the dog or hurt the dog, and have a way less chance of choking the dog than with normal flat collars. Prong collars apply a small amount of pressure, that stops a dog from pulling if needed and keeps the dog more focused. People who don't know how to use prongs or leave a prong collar on their dogs all the time give prong collars a bad rap.
Prong collars are very gentle with proper use. Way more gentle than other collars that cause trachea damage when dogs pull. Stop speaking from ignorance and maybe do some legitimate research.

This is a series I can live with from BuzzFeed!
“Don’t know if she’s been exposed to this many chickens”
*what puppy HAS been exposed to so many chickens??*
Mackenzie B I guess pigeons and ducks are similar. Then it's just a matter of generalisation.
Mine, I live near a chicken farm with many chickens. So MANY chickens. Sometimes one escapes.
Um one that lives on a farm?
Mine 😁 we live on a farm
When my parents took our dogs to "The Farm", I never saw them again.
