- Creators have been using social media as a promotion tool for over a decade. However, these platforms have slowly been shifting and transformed into something very toxic for artists recently, getting them stuck in the algorithm trap.
In this video, I explain the shift, the consequences it has on artists and I explore possible alternatives.

Hi Anna! Thank you for this video! I think you’re completely right! And I’m very sad about it. Mostly because it will only get worse. As a fan / consumer of content, I’ve noticed this shift. I now have to manually look for the profiles I follow to actually see content from them because it won’t appear on my feed. And I believe this will only get worse because of the new kid on the block: AI. Now people will focus on creating content with AI, they won’t even bother to do it themselves. Music, illustration, even videos (MVs, movies in the not so far future) will be created with AI. And that could be a killing blow to art and human creativity. Sadly enough, this will be fully encouraged by social media and the algorithms, as AI is where the money is (and will continue to be) for the big tech companies. I just hope we humans realise this and do something, even if it’s too late. Because it will be too sad to kill ourselves, our art, our creativity, our humanity, like this. the reach was always low
but i learned few things from that
the easy way to get attention is to make fan art for some streamer or youtuber big and small
they usually could share it for bigger reach but heres the downside of that
the only reason the artwork got attention is cause someone bigger then you decided to share it and the artwork on its own would never had the same chance
to maintain that the artist would have to be constantly making fanart just to stay visible
that the path of a machine drawing something not for your own purpose or freedom of choice
i dont want to depend on that path cause the art own its own will never be discoverable it sounds unbalanced
i want my art to gain followers or attention the honest way which means doing it the hard way
algorithm only cares about statistics not how much effort someone put into something
it wants best engagement best retention and best quantity it cant understand quality which is every demanding
the second issue is holding back
most of us can do a million times more we probably only put 20% or 40% effort
i know i hold back incase it fails besides drawing from nothing takes a lot of effort and result not worth even the lowest expectation
the positive of having no followers is doing what you want and then you want
but that pressure to do better or make a living out of it never goes away
so you have to choose what to sacrifice
if you want to draw but it not benefitial you have to abandon art for sake of survival
thats right making art is lowest priority and often we dont have a choice
I will only get worst in the future with AI-generated art and content
