I can see this as an anti-Patreon club, locals only … not something internet-y. But this O.G. isn’t local to you, so I didn’t “like” the comment even if yes I like the idea (for you). Make sense?

That actually came to my mind immediately as I was watching the video. I’ve been following you for about 4 years now - on UA-cam, not real life. That’d be creepy. And even though I’m not shooting digital anymore - or shooting a lot at all - I still enjoy your videos and would be happy to support the channel.
I can see how you could offer camera walks for Patreons or certain courses. That way you might not be that dependent on the UA-cam algorithm and could stay more true to what you’d like to do.

Honestly, your videos are refreshing because they are genuine. I wouldn’t change your formula because I initially watched your videos for Fuji content, but continue watching them because you are a likable, funny guy. I think UA-cam burnout is real and keeping it fun is the key to longevity. Thanks for the videos!

Be you, be genuine. Don't over think it. Being something you're not is easy to spot. People follow you for your personality brother. Do what feels right. Better to have 150k real followers than 500k followers that are not loyal to your brand (you). You have a few good ideas follow that. Those who are your real followers will support your endeavors.

Damn Sandro! You said it so perfectly that I’ve got no palabras. Lol. I hope you won’t mind that I second your comment to Omar (I have a brother named Omar BTW). I was going to leave a very similar comment but since you put it so succinctly, I will piggy back yours. I will ad that recently when I was feeling similarly about my photography, I saw somewhere a phrase that said simply, “keep going”. At the time I took that to mean, “you’re on the right path for yourself. Just keep going. Don’t deviate. Success will follow”. Now, granted, it took a lot from that simple phrase of “keep going”. But it’s what I needed at that moment. Keep going Omar. Be well and stay healthy.

the fact that you are not looking for more followers or more "views", is the reason I follow your channel. yes, maybe some of the videos can be better, but when I watch your videos, I feel connected to a human, not a business!

Failure??? Your photography videos are so much more fun, honest, and authentic than the more repetitive formulaic content of other UA-camrs that are just focused on numbers of views. Your videos are a joy to watch, keep up the great work!

Hi, I have the xt20 and also the xt3. I'm in my early 80s and and bought the xt20 about 4 years ago. Watching your videos has been of tremendous help and has taught me so much. Having just watched Failure I am pleased to say that my philosophy is similar to yours, so I'm looking forward to seeing your upcoming videos in 2022. Unfortunately I have been a full time carer for my wife for the last 2 years so have not been able to get out and about especially with the Lockdowns here in New Zealand. Being limited to our back garden, which has a good outlook has had its challenging but setting up bird feeders has been inspiring. Your videos and your humor has helped me so much. SO KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING. Thanks, Tony.

Ah yes, the dreaded UA-cam algorithm chase… I really appreciate people who create videos that they want to make rather than when it’s obvious someone is just chasing clicks. I’ve always gotten the feel that you enjoy making these vids. Happy New Year, Omar! 🥳🎉

Omar, you are the single, and only reason I access UA-cam. Putting that aside, I was actually thinking today, while out walking my dog, that there are very few genuinely inspirational and engaging souls, who elevate the world we live in, whatever they do. You are certainly one of those.
Your energy and joie de vivre is nothing short of a panacea for grey times. If the Omar elixir could be tapped and bottled, it would make the ultimate pizza topping!
So please keep doing what you're doing. US on the other side have our lives enriched by your glorious approach to sharing. It is a unique portal to a kind of joy which can only come from the heart. And by saying keep doing, I don't mean tutorials on repeat etc etc. I mean being YOU. I know whatever you share with us, will have that same Omar glitter sprinkled over its presentation. As you enjoy life, we are privileged to share that journey.
Like popping the cap on a favourite beer bottle, or pulling the cork on a well-visited vintage, I know, without fail, that hitting the Omar PLAY button brings untold revelry and a simple desire to smile.
I still shoot Fuji. And have done so since those XT-20 tutorials. But we transcend the lens, and sensor. It's much more than tales of tech.
Lastly, please don't go after or obsess over over the numbers. They only corrupt and distort.
    Your failure is a triumph.
    A friend from London.

    Hi Omar,
I think I can only echo what so many have already said. We’re here for you and your personality, warmth, and the genuine connection with a real person.
I love your cityscapes, and your street photography inspires me. I just wish I had more time to get out and shoot myself. I’m currently constrained by a 6 month old!
If I lived anywhere near, I’d love to do photo walks with you, and I would feel comfortable with you as a tutor or mentor (obviously for a fee for your time) as you seem genuinely interested in helping others improve and would be a kind and inspirational guide.
In short, you be you, and your community will grow with time as people discover your wonderful style and personality.
Happy New Year to you and your family!
    Andrew

Don't think that you are a failure. You seem like someone I have known my whole life. You are real, and that comes across. I get tired of the highly polished videos of some the other UA-cam creators that have lost sight of what it is all about. They try so hard that sometimes they seem fake. I enjoy watching videos from creators that can make a connection that instills a feeling that they care about their subscribers as photography compadres, not just a means to get views and make money. So keep the videos coming, and we will continue to watch them. Good Luck and God Bless!

Happy New Year Omar! I appreciate your channel. I started with you when I bought a Fuji XT2 several years ago. You are a great help to me. Now I have a Sony and Fuji. I don't have a Canon or Nikon but I watch all your videos. I follow several camera channels on UA-cam. What I find different about them compared to you is your personality. You are honest and sincere about what you do. You try to help people. We were all beginners at one time and needed help. I think I will always be a beginner, I'm always learning something new, lol. I'm not fond of the channels that review items for money and clicks. I do understand it is a business for them and they have to do what is needed to make money. I prefer channels like yours. You give it a personal feel. I have recently had an interest in architecture and love to see the buildings in your are through your camera. I live in Iowa and I don't have access to building like that. I also like when you take trips on your motorcycle and documenting the trip. Keep up the good work. P.S I almost never write comments, testament to how I feel about you and your channel.

The search for inspiration, the passion and love for photography, the good vibes, every laugh (you should watch us, I'm sure I'm not the only one laughing my *** out with some bright moments, like the NOOOIR episode omg). There was a point when I got bored of those channels who repeat the same "successful" formula, but I keep coming back here, I know there's always something new and inspiring.

That video of you and your Son doing concurrent street shooting was so much more enjoyable and rewatchable than 90% of the crappy POV stuff on UA-cam. Same with any of your "Here I am in the city, let's see what I can get..." videos. I can't tell you how many times that I sent links to these videos to my photo buddies.
Besides your shooting techniques, advice, etc... your dry humor is terrific. The jokes are so subtle, but your eye brow and smirk brings it all together.
Hope to see the same Omar in 2022.

I am 1000% in club Omar! You have one of my favorite channels on youtube, and it's because you feel so authentic and do what *you* want to do (which, admittedly, does indeed overlap with what I enjoy watching), instead of just making videos pleasing the algorithm. I really enjoy the photo walk style videos you make, and hearing your genuine thoughts on photography, what you look for when making an image, etc. The more you are "you", the more fun it is to watch, as it's like hearing a friend's perspective and outlook and experience. No matter what, I hope you continue to make *what* you want to make, and *how* you want to make it. Channels like yours give me hope that if I decided to start sharing videos, I could do it how I want, without having to adopt the same style, jargon, look, content, etc. as is so common on the platform. I hope your 2022 has brought creative fulfillment; I've definitely enjoyed what you've shared. Thank you 💛

Omar, the reason why I’m touched by photography is not the menu of my camera but by get inspired by creation. The reason why I’m touched by your blog is the mix of fantasy, skills, Howard and inspiration. And that’s the for me the ‘Omar factor’ in your vlogs. Me (fujifilm fan) and my wife (Nikon fan) always watch your video’s and go out on trips to discover the fun of photography, area’s and there it is… to have fun! So we are failures to and love to find ‘manipulated subjects’. Go on with making vlogs with subjects your inspired to and share it with us. Friends and fans forever!

First and foremost: Happy and healthy new year to you! At the end I think you inadvertently summed it up…. You didn’t fail at anything. You grew. You grew away from a certain type of street photography…. You kept shooting it thinking you or the camera was not right…but in essence, my sense is that you just grew tired of that type of street photography and found architecture or MORE of a story more interesting or motivating. Major props to you for being true to yourself by not making only videos that garner views but videos that you feel like making. I think that is what makes you incredibly transparent, relatable and honest. While I understand UA-cam is a business and a revenue stream - it is also a vehicle for creative expression and I think you excel at that. And yeah - we like learning from you and hanging out with you. Far from a failure. You have given so much to all of us…… what a win for so many. Thanks for all you do. As for the critics…. I would get banned for what I want to say but I am sure you can figure it out!

You're not a failure. Your real world reviews, along with your genuine and fun approach is what got me subscribed. Your videos are exactly what youtube was originally designed for, it's they who are the failures!
With regards to looking back at your photos and feeling uninspired - that's just a natural evolution. You found something you liked in street photography, explored it, and did everything you wanted to do with it *for now*.
Creativity comes from curiosity. The more you do something, the more you know it, the less curious you become and ultimately, lose your inspiration. It's natural. There's nothing wrong with moving on to something else and learning something new.
I really like your idea of the busy scenes - "The more you look the more you see" kinda style. I think it will be difficult, but you're in the right place for it. I can just picture a scene where you got a guy tripping up a curb and spilling his coffee, further along the street some removal guys wrestling a sofa down a stoop and into a truck, steam pouring from manhole covers in backstreets, cats chasing each other on fire escapes, all mingled in with the usual foot traffic. Make it happen man, because I sure as heck ain't gonna see that in rural England!Don't let the algorithms and other channels change you. They might engineer more views or likes, but yours are REAL.

No failure in sight! The library of Fuji film tutorials has helped enormously, but then I can go back 2-3 years. What is important is the creativity journey and for that you are trusted. And that is perhaps the important thing, not views. You are trusted and followed for that, not for the click bait titles used elsewhere. A photo walk would be awesome! I enjoy your soul searching. You remind me of a golf pro at the local course who gave lessons almost everyday, all day. When he went out to play a round with other people a hole didn't go by without someone asking, "What do you think of my swing, or how would you putt that?" He finally got to the point where golf wasn't fun anymore. You had so many questions in your video without the main one. What about you, Omar? What do you want to do for you? Take more landscape photos and be old fashion, put them on your website with a special heading. Don't do a video about them until you can't contain yourself, your so excited! Oh, and for the first month or so, just process in black and white. Other than that, have a great New Year, and much success in 2022!

I truly appreciate all your casual discussions about Fuji. You are a big reason I felt confident switching from Canon to Fuji.

Hey Omar, completely understand the 'torn between growth versus fun'. From a purely personal perspective - and as a rank amateur - I judge your success in the following ways: 1. You inspired me. 2. I bought my X-T20 based on your great tutorials, but also your unique and very funny perspective. 3. You've tought me plenty over time, regardless of system. 4. I turned my X-T20 in a 'Film Noir' camera (lol) when I purchased my XT-4. 5. Regardless of the above, you are a natural comic and I have very much enjoyed all of your content - even where it may not have been relevant to me personally. Thank you..

First of all, I agree with Brandon Wagner's comment that you're videos are awesome because they're genuine. That's so true! You're so genuine and so kind and I love that about you, your videos, and your photography. I love that you talk about your family and that you have a video of you and your son taking photos or you and your daughter teaching flash exposure. That's something rare and beautiful!
Additionally, I am so glad that you're going to keep producing videos, because I love them. They make me feel proud to own a Fujifilm and they get me excited, like really excited, about photography and using my Fuji!
I know that you're transitioning to city scapes, architecture/neighborhood photographs, and street scenes and I support that 100%! I have captured a wimpy city scene once or twice and I love those photos to death. But also, just for the record, all the photos from last year that you showed made me smile. I love the yellow car and the dog on the chair. I think they're all awesome! So whatever you photograph, keep doing it in your awesome Omar way. You, your work, and your attitude are inspiring!
And heck ya I'd wear an Omar t-shirt. I'm on the Omar team!

We watch you for the authenticity, the sense of humor, and the originality. Forget tutorials -- you know who's doing Fuji tutorials already. (And we kind of lost Andrew of Denae & Andrew to the brutal UA-cam algorithm -- another good guy.). Cityscapes are awesome. Keep having fun and Happy New Year.

I think we all find ourselves at times doubting our ability to turn out great work. I’ve been following your channel since I switched from Nikon to Fuji. What I like about it, in addition to being informative, is that your show both your successes and failures. Most importantly, how to learn from the failures. The relaxed format makes the viewing experience very personable and enjoyable. I commend you for not drinking the cool aid and chasing likes. I am a believer in quality over quantity. Keep on doing what your are doing!

Omar, you're not failing, you're growing. 'Gearheadedness', for lack of a better term, only takes one so far. Right now I'm enjoying using the camera on my old phone more than using my beloved camera because the phone seems to be more transparent. I'm also doing sketching and signed up for a painting class. To me, you sound like you want to get away from 'stuff' and do more with the world. Maybe it's the pandemic. Who knows. Anyway, I salute your honesty and integrity!

Omar, your videos are genius and your photography is absolutely amazing. The ideas you mentioned came from what you consider failures, but which I see as a building block to spark your interest.
Also, shoot with what you’re happy with. If Nikon makes you happy and sparks your creativity, then go with it! I know you sometimes like taking the small cameras. If you find one that you truly enjoy, then run with it (maybe the Z50?) No one will judge your camera decisions.
You got this in 2022 and your fans will stick by.

You my friend are the SOLE reason I got into photography. I loved it before but it was when I stumbled onto one of your xt20 videos that I got HOOKED! I started off with a xt20 and now have, the x100t, xt20, xt3, xpro2(my fave) and 4 prime lenses, and 1 zoom. You are diffinetly not a FAILURE. I think you inspire more people than you think. Keep it going!

Before watching your video, I would like to tell you honestly, you are the Best in what you do. I not only love your tutorials and reviews but the way you do it, the way you make it interesting , your sense of humour , your whole PERSONALITY. You and PAL2TECh are the only two youtubers whose content i find worth watching. As Chris said "You are a Winner 🏆 " and us audience value what you do ! Please carry on with your work and what you are passionate about. Happy New Year :)

Pal2Tech made a video about you, and i am with him 100%. You are a winner. A winner to a lot of people like me, who rediscovered their passion for photography through creators like you. Storytime: i got burned out by corporate photography, and refused to pick up the camera for many years, but when I did, i found people like you reintroducing me to that same love and passion that got me into photography. Keep doing your stuff that bring in the YT metrics, but also do stuff that you love, could be in a video, could be off cam with just you and the kids… any which way you decide moving forward, we will be here waiting for your content. Happy New Year!

One can tell that you are enjoing what you are doing , and that is mostly why I keep coming back - it is sooo much fun watching you having fun. Yes, you taught me a lot about my Fuji cameras, and I apprechiate it a lot, thank you for that. But I love your style of videos and your content in general. So please keep it up! Happy New Year and best regards from Germany.

Mr. Gonzalez, you are authentic. I'd watch your videos even if you had a dish washing channel. Your sense of humor is spot on ("Hey, man, this video is not for you". Or, "I'm not a failure, its the camera's fault"). UA-cam's video algorithms based on their central tenets of like, scribe and obey are the Pavlovian slippery slope that send many a well intention creative's channel straight to the bit bucket. Don't be "That Guy". Resist! Be who you are -- it shows!

Hey Omar, I am probably very few audience of you from Taiwan, been subscribing the channel only for couple years. I want to take the chance to say thank you. It was you with this channel to help me to figure out what I should do my cameras, what kind of photography I would like to do. And yes, I do have 2 cameras now, and one is designated as the Noir camera.
Sure, we got that concept that your are really having high standard regarding all the works you do, but still, it is also you, to present this particular craft, photography, in a much more fun way, and tell us it has a much more relaxing approach to begin with.
Happy new year, best wishes to you and your family.

    Hey Omar,
thank you for openly sharing all those thoughts of yours. In general: You are much too hard on yourself. I absolutely enjoyed many "mundane" videos and photos. Especially when you go out and shoot in all those diverse neighbourhoods of NY and New Jersey. Coming from Germany, to me they are fascinating to discover through your photos. For you it might be "mundane" - to me it's quite "exotic".
You are definitely NOT a failure. ;-)
Keep on just being yourself! Have fun! This is the way.
    Cheers
    Uwe

Omar, I take inspiration not just from your videos on settings etc but also from the photos you shot on the street. I pause the video to look at the composition of the photo and try to get into your headspace on how you might have isolated a scene from everything else in the surroundings. Its very inspiring work for me atleast.
In 2022, I would love to see your process - how you compose and shoot your photos in vlog format. 60% on the composition and artistic side of things and 40% on the technique to realize your artistic vision.

Omar, failure is a strong word and one I personally wouldn't apply to you, your life, or your work (based on what I see here). Best I can tell, you have a wonderful/beautiful family and you're earning a living doing what you love.... if that's being a failure, I'll take it! I'd describe your situation as just reaching a plateau... you haven't reached the peak or goals you've set, but maybe you've leveled out for a time while you decide the your next move, and the fact you're talking about it is a good start. Best of luck in 2022 in starting your climb again. Hang in there my Jersey friend.

    Happy New Year, Omar!
You are absolutely not a failure. Your videos are brilliant. I get something new from each of your videos. Even though I started with you because I shoot Fujifilm, all of your videos are a big help, Nikon or otherwise. The platform really doesn’t make a difference for me. It’s the process and the artistry.
I have found that I loved shooting exactly what you’re saying: architecture, wildlife, nature… I threw in abstract this year, too. I didn’t get hung up on whether or not I lighted correctly or if everything I wanted was in focus. I tried to shoot and use what I learned from you to tweak while I shot, oftentimes with very cool effect. I post on FB and IG but I really don’t worry about likes. I just post what I like.
    Thanks to folks like you.
    Keep up the great work.
