The whole reason that baboons go into town is because the humans don’t know how to manage their houses and food resources. It’s the humans fault. We took away their land where they would forage for food like they would in the wild. Baboons are going to be baboons, we can’t change that. But we can change how we handle our situation. What did you expect them to do ypu built houses on their territory. If you were expecting tbe baboons to just go away you were so very.wrong. ive no pity for people who build on an animals territory and breeding grounds you deserve what you get.
This is the baboons territory , like everything in life we need to take responsibility, when you invested in your homes , you knew they were there ! However, I can also understand the frustration!
The humans went in and built up a town smack dab directly in the very pathway between the rock cliffs where the baboons go to safely sleep at night and the ocean beach where they must go to everyday to obtain the clams, oysters, crabs, fish, seaweeds and other saltwater ocean foods which contain the mineral salts and other nutrients that the baboons require to maintain their health needs and fill their bellies.
Very cool documentary. Because baboons are so intelligent I wonder if a habit couldn’t be taught to them by leaving food for them in designated locations - or also by growing their preferred foods outside of the residential zones. I wouldn’t mind having a garden outside my home specifically for the baboons so that rather than deterring them from coming here for food - I’m encouraging them to go there. Very interesting and fulfilling life the handicapped woman is living. She should be the one speaking to the other locals about the baboons. Electric deterrents should only be used at stores. And theoretically if they have designated feeding locations they know about - and there’s a bounty of their preferred native diet - that should lower the incidents of them breaking into stores, and homes right? And even then noise seems to be most effective deterrent (whistling, the Jets, that one lady with a kazoo). It would be very interesting to see what effects playing Justin Bieber or Nickleback in the stores might have. :P Also very interesting that even when confronted with territorial conflicts - the baboons only go to violence as a last resort. Surely the more we learn about their behaviors and their own little psychology they have going on - there are ways to encourage them to go elsewhere for food. Without deterring. The best way to teach dogs after all is with positive reinforcement- not by yelling and carrying on. And baboons seem to be more intelligent. I’m convinced these baboons could learn new patterns. And if the people learn to be calm, the baboons as well will follow their behavior. To groom a baboon would surely be a once in a life time experience. It also makes me wonder if the baboons perceive her to be injured and thus not as much as a threat/someone they think they are tending to as well? If they refuse to attack a baby baboon - do they also refuse to attack an injured baboon/human? So when that first baboon was in her home and saw her, it was just like, “oh Shit. Sorry. I didn’t know” and did not want to rob her of her resources? Very intriguing documentary. Thank you for uploading! Sorry for the rambling comment. Feel free to respond to this comment and let me hear your input. I’ve never met a baboon in my life.
Leslie Nielsen and the Mayor in Naked Gun 2 1/2 - "Can't you see the town is overrun with baboons ?" asked the Mayor. "Isn't that the fault of the voters ?"
People are spoiled and feel they are entitled to whatever they want, wherever they are. The idea of sharing their environment with other creatures doesn't faze many of them. Even when they have invaded the animals territory. It may not be ideal for humans to take extra precautions, but sometimes we need to made compromises...
The baboons also love the charcoals from the burnt wood. They eat it for the same reasons that humans do.....to remove toxins and parasites and parasites poop toxins, from their digestive systems, blood and organs. The ashes from the burnt trees and plants also serve as jam packed full of nutrients fertilizer for the plants that begin to grow up in the burnt areas. Nutrients, all natural fertilizers! Natures cycles, at it's finest!
Just curious haw much land have people taken away from them? We as humans don't think about the environment they need. Relocating would be a good idea. No more harm to humans and the monkeys! Thats a great solution. If you can give them a place where they can have food and water. I pray there is a harmless way to move them, has it every been tried? 💜🙏💜🌸🫶
The rat in your thumbnail isn't even a baboon, it's a macaque. If that's going to show the level of information we're going to get from this then I don't have very high hopes.
The baboons have lived there for years people are the problem here they destroy there habitat people need to.change and use common sense if living near wild animals. Maybe a they should have some feeding stations on the outskirts to encourage them to feed in certain areas.I would feed them if I lived there and prefer them to a lot of people.
Does not matter how long they lived there. NOT HUMANS. THEY NEED TO BE MASS DESTROYED. What do they contribute to the country? NOTHING. THEY ARE DANGEROUS.
@@billrankin Really? These baboons can travel anywhere in this environment, the same with humans. I have seen them leave the forest to travel in the cities for free food. Don't put all this on deforestation. Plenty of this is animal softies and tourist leaving free food around making them domesticated and addicted. We just need to co-exist and if not! Let the Baboons know that humans are in charge! Baboons are opportunist. If you give them an inch, they will take a mile. A feeding station won't work since the animal softies have gotten these Baboons hooked on sweets. As you can see, they are breaking into homes stealing plenty of junk food. They are accustom to this bad behavior.
My comment from above... Why dont they make a feeding & watering station up in the hills for the baboons? Then they wouldnt have to come down for food & water. Could even do a man-made lake-pool for them to bath, play & cool off in. And, for doors & windows, why not install steel bars that are spaced enough so they cant climb in, so doors & windows can still stay open for the breeze & fresh air, but still keep them out? Solutions arent as hard as it seems, but people always expect the wild animals to change, when in fact, it's the humans that need to use their own brains & change what they choose to do to make things more bearable. Wild animals dont have that capacity to figure it out, so i has to be US that figures out ways to make things work. It might cost a bit for steel bars, but it's a one time expense. The food would be an ongoing expense, but you'd think there are people & organizations that might help with that? After all, they pay to employ a man to stay there daily to watch where, when, and what the baboons are up to. Just modify his job to feed & water them daily too. I'm just saying, those 2 things would be cheaper than the constant damage to homes, people's doc bills & pet's vet bills & the injuries & possibly deaths of innocent animals that just dont know any better. I'm sure there's other solutions that i havent thought of. Basically, if you give them what they need up there in the hills, they wont need to come down. They may still, for a while, until they realize they dont need to. Occasional baboon forays into town may still happen, but not nearly as often as is happening now. If we're going to encroach upon their home, we need to make allowances for them to sustain themselves too, without leading them into the temptation to raid homes for food, water, and such because we've taken their hunting grounds for our homes. We can at least try to coexist, rather than wipe them out to extinction, or make them violent out of fear of humans hurting them. I'm just sayin...
Having gone camping frequently, bears are a lot like babboons. If they find ez food they keep coming back, hence bear "proof" items to try and discourage foraging. If the humans made it harder for the babboons to get in it will eventually change the behaviora. That said it takes time and effort and is the price you "pay" living somewhere like that. That said I do sympathize with the humans, that is very frustrating dealing with them!
So very often our human history has shown that people have never had a problem coming in to an occupied area indiscriminately conquoring, killing and pillaging. Taking whatever we want to fulfill an emotional need. Not a physical one Taking over. Going to war. We'd rather kill and destroy than to compromise and work with the locals and the land. I'm admiring how the baboons negotiate and work with the situations presented to them. When they want something (or need something like food) they will look for the easiest and least confrontational way. They aren't looking to hoard anything or conqor others just for the excess goods or personal power. They seek a peaceful working solution. They aren't malicious or violent bullies, like us. We can and should be enter a place with the attitude of incorporating our lives within the natural environment. Instead of with an eye to change it to suit us.. Completely altering a space ruins it. Running off the inhabitants is morally wrong. We all have a place of value in this world. We need to learn to really respect that other creatures have the right to survive. And we should be using the land gently. We are desiccating the planet. Baboons could teach us a lot about how to negotiate our way in life. How to live at peace within our world. As a species, we are far from the least harmful.
Except baboons rule by ALPH male a totalitarian rule . They WILL kill you ,your children and pets if they want what YOU have. There is no negotiating with them, just like little terrorists. The best defense is a good offense. Take a pro active approach to security and deterrent measures. 1. Big guard dogs ,minimum of two. 2. Dead locks and bolts 3. Window guards ,the kind that you can pop out on the inside incase of emergency exit 4. Electric shock 🤯 5. Burn your rubbish if you are not in the urban setting. 6. Alarm system Because these primates are very intelligent it's necessary to ALWAYS have a plan ( B ) Personally, if it were me I wouldn't hesitate , to do whatever I needed to do, to keep my Littles safe ,by any means necessary !!!
I would NEVER live there.im scared of this species of animals whether it be baboons, monkeys ,chimps, gorillas etc etc My anxiety would be off the charts
I hope people don't hurt babbons.... humans have taken their habitat and they don't hava places to go. Go ahead babbons take over whatever you found, it is your habitat.
Why are these people so resistant and fight locking things up. He was right, its a hard lesson to learn, and these people are so resistant to learning that lesson. For me, I had to learn those hard lessons, but I did, and now it's second nature to me. And I don't mind, id rather lock up, than get ripped off by anyone.

What did you expect them to do ypu built houses on their territory. If you were expecting tbe baboons to just go away you were so very.wrong. ive no pity for people who build on an animals territory and breeding grounds you deserve what you get.
Good shoe, too freaking bad there is a commercial every 3-4 minutes> Really UA-cam?
the story of mankind: let's change or eliminate what's here when we arrive, so that we can live the life we want
Accept baboons? Unbelievable.
You must be the pride of the neighborhood.
The crying baby girl was crying because her mother wanted her to.
Please Craig, come and work in the Tokai, Constantia, Kommetjie area! Your expertise would be welcomed.
Also very interesting that even when confronted with territorial conflicts - the baboons only go to violence as a last resort.
No matter how droll they are, they are the enemy, especially that Dave !!!!!!
If this show is about baboons, then why is there a picture of a Barbary macaque on the thumbnail? 😂😂😂
One of the things that really bothers me is the way the baboons act as thoughit is their right to take what they want, anytime they want.
They’re animals.
you do realise they are wild animals, don't you?
You do realize at one time the Baboons lived where the houses are now right? Are you woke?
Yeah, I hate how lions hunt other animals. It's very annoying.
It’s the baboons home , so if you choose to live there then all I can say is get along or leave
Would you say the same about mosquitoes?
Gosh, we've been so good to the Earth, so balanced, so harmonious, so deeply respectful. Those baboons are messy! It's just not fair.
Yes we have made the EArth heaven. God must be jealous.🤣

The humans are building on their territory. They are intelligent enough to fight back
Would an offering of food and water at the edge of town help keep them out people's homes?
Ever since baboons ripped off the limbs of a 4 year old, my opinion of baboons has changed dramatically. I do think that they are predators.
Look at how big that thing is that’s throwing the tantrum. He is too old and big to be nursing.
Dave barking at that jet looks so silly.
Get a good PCP airgun rifle with 40-50 Joules energy. Problem sold out!
That man feeding them is the direct reason why the baboons go to town to find food.
The baboons will come to your house irrespective of whether others feed them or not. That's a ridiculous statement to blame others who do feed them.
People are spoiled and feel they are entitled to whatever they want, wherever they are. The idea of sharing their environment with other creatures doesn't faze many of them. Even when they have invaded the animals territory. It may not be ideal for humans to take extra precautions, but sometimes we need to made compromises...
Why don’t the town just supply them some food for them onplant food for them and everyone chip in for some sort of food for them drop on outskirts
I thought they didn’t like alcohol. The invasion of these baboons could be stopped by people locking up their homes and businesses.
Very interesting
Why don't you feed them everyday outside of town then they would not need to come into town.
No
Rat traps laden with food so they can’t see the part that will snap their claws.
If people can’t live with animals move somewhere else. Seriously
The rat in your thumbnail isn't even a baboon, it's a macaque. If that's going to show the level of information we're going to get from this then I don't have very high hopes.
Electric fences?
People need to put bars over windows and doors.
They can also learn how to lock things up
They do exactly as they please.
The baboons have lived there for years people are the problem here they destroy there habitat people need to.change and use common sense if living near wild animals. Maybe a they should have some feeding stations on the outskirts to encourage them to feed in certain areas.I would feed them if I lived there and prefer them to a lot of people.
They would tear you apart. Limb from limb.
Does not matter how long they lived there. NOT HUMANS. THEY NEED TO BE MASS DESTROYED. What do they contribute to the country? NOTHING. THEY ARE DANGEROUS.
@@littleme3597 it’s there natural habitat they should be left to live
I promise if one of them entered my house he'd never come back
Having gone camping frequently, bears are a lot like babboons.
Yes, we are educated with a similar situation but with bears. We as humans need to act responsible and we do. Karen from Canada
2. Dead locks and bolts
3. Window guards ,the kind that you can pop out on the inside incase of emergency exit
4. Electric shock 🤯
5. Burn your rubbish if you are not in the urban setting.
6. Alarm system

Yes i agree Humans are a menace.

So they have a way to get food. Therefore they should not be breaking in houses stealing food & people should not feed them period!!
They will all die off from eating that poison that people call food

Why don't everyone leave their leftovers in a designated spot away from town
Why are these people so resistant and fight locking things up. He was right, its a hard lesson to learn, and these people are so resistant to learning that lesson. For me, I had to learn those hard lessons, but I did, and now it's second nature to me. And I don't mind, id rather lock up, than get ripped off by anyone.

The authorities' position is that "baboons are people too!", rather than that human society should have dominion over the land.
I wish more people would see things the way you do!
“Dominion” is a silly term, such a thing doesn’t truly exist. Proper precautions should be taken though, use of firearms may prove effective in making the baboons more wary of humans.
If they don’t want to kill them, why not relocate them.
