At 5:00, where you suggest "grabbing a timer or using your phone", makes me wonder if you're aware of the free official app for this game? One of the app's features is a built-in timer for the Inspection Phase, complete with background sound effects and spoken cues. You can of course set the timer to any number of minutes you wish.
We play 6 players with just the sheriff. We never use the fiddly mess caused by the 2 deputies. No idea why they came up with the 2 deputies. 6 NEW players was perfectly fine as well. Everyone was comfortable after the 2nd round. I was the 7th player playing the banker and marshal. 2 hrs of FUN for everyone. The honest player came in 4th place.
This expansion changes to 80%/20% true/lying to make a good game in shreiff to an 80% lying xd, I guess it makes it funnier and bribes are so much common
Board, Deck & Dice The laws add some nice twists. I like the Merry Men but some abilities are better than others. I always get stuck with Will Scarlett for some reason.
In the second edition of the base game the 6th player, sheriff's deputies and black market are included in het base game. Unfortunately those are not the best modules of Merry Men, so you still want to buy the expansion
Nice review mate! Any chance you could do a top 20 games that play well with 2 players? I say top 20 because with top 10’s you mostly see the same games mentioned on most channels. Cheers!
Luke Hector Would be great if you do get a chance mate, maybe a 4 part with 5 at a time, I like top 10’s but like I said they get repetitive and I think going into 20 games would give people some more good ideas. Cheers!
Yes - I chucked the plastic insert for the coins though but to be honest it's rather useless. Bag up 50 gold for each player in advance, rest in another bag / tub. Keep the plastic insert for the cards though. I sleeve everything in this so the insert holds 3 separate draw decks and the discard decks go to the side. Everything fits fine.
I really want to like the base game, but I felt after one play that games appeal dwindles quickly as there is not a lot you can do. Step A) Claim what yo have and B) Bribe or not bribe. It just fizzled after about 25 minutes.
Justin RizzoYou have to embrace the campy theme as well. Get a group willing to role play it up and try crazy bribes and it's hilarious. The expansion only made it better.
I don't understand the complaints about the game taking too long. With 5 players, the game takes sub 2 hours, but it should buzz past quickly with everyone laughing. I also don't ever see people win by telling the truth the entire game. I'm not sure how that's possible when others have contraband cards through already.

I wasn't at the time, but yeah I use it now.
Love this review!! Thank you so much, Luke!!!
I own sheriff and I think this should be added in the base game
Great review! Thanks for making it!

I liked this expansion too but had different favourite bits! I really liked the Merry Men and wasn’t so bothered about laws haha

Luke Hector because you are a scarlet man?
Nice review! I will try this out tonight :)

Yeah it's fine if you haven't got the game and only play occasionally but others it's annoying. It doesn't have the laws and I love those.

Ge e e k 20 would take me forever to record and talk about each one unless it was a two parter. Tempted to do 2 player games at some point though.

Thanks, I love the review. Does it fit into the base game box?

Wow I was gonna sell sheriff, then I read this review and I’m like taking down the post and planning to buy the expansion next to spice it up.
😂 ha ha nice one! It adds a lot of extra flavor!

Thank you, you convinced me to get it :)
very nice review, didn't know about you doing these. Subscribing! :)
Many thanks!
I wonder if he liked it… was fairly ambiguous. I guess I’ll never find out.

legonut78 two hours is a long time to play a party game though.
If there is so much more incentive to lie, then won't everyone just inspect all the bags?
You'd think that but actually depending on how good your bluffing is you can still get away with it.
