I bought my first Tom T. Hall record probably in 1966, and I've been a fan ever since. God, where does time go? The good news is, I never dreamed back then of having the internet and youtube. This is truly a treasure!
My dad literally just came through to me with this song. He used to sing it to me all the time. I love you, dad... see you again one day. And tell mom I love her, too.
I sang six babies and three God babies to sleep over the years to this song (amongst many others). One of my favorites from childhood. My oldest daughter would run her fingers through my hair as I rocked her and sing as she was half asleep "I love You, Daddy." Someone mentioned that time ceased to exist when Tom sang this song; I could not agree more 😊
I was there, and it was a memory I shall never forget. I got to thank Tom and Miss Dixie for the blessings of their music after they finished their meal at the restaurant next door before the concert. Thank you for posting this video!
How do I get to see Tom T. during one of these shows? I know he is retired, and deservedly so... but I just love him so much- I know he does a few performances here and there, but I never hear about them in time to attend. I sure wish to see good ol' Tom T. just once. He came to town many years ago and I wanted desperately to see him, but couldn't afford to go at that time. I've regretted it ever since. When a person's music touches you so deeply like his has to me, that person becomes almost like family to you. I'd love to see him even if he didn't sing a note, just to shake his hand and express a heartfelt "Thank You".
I remember this song coming out in the late 70’s and after going through the singers we listen to in the 60’s Tom T Hall was a pleasure. I thought this could never be Sung by no other artist! Tom was great for country music at the time.He really was a great performer, and his shows were entertaining as well. This was a song that grew on his audience over time, but when it stuck, it really stuck. This was a time when we listened to lyrics? People do remember lyrics don’t they?
Hi, Gloria! Thank you very much for this great video of a very amazing performer and story-teller. I love to listen to Tom T. Hall! Bless you, Brother Charlie (Charles)

If you don't love this, you don't love country music. Period.
