I've heard your testimony many many times, throwing your mom under the bus to make yourself look good. That is not honoring your mother by publicly calling her a raging alcoholic, married 7 times with many boyfriends in between. Publicity throwing mud on your mom's name is a sin and violates one of the commandments.
First of all. The Ten Commandments were sorely misinterpreted. Honor thy Mother and thy Father, actually means honor our Father, Creator of all things with his light, and the Earth our Mother. They are both living beings who were given life by father and mother nurtures us with the elements of her many physical forms. We have gotten away from knowing that Father is our actual Father he just doesn’t do sibling labels. That’s a human thing for he nor mother are not human.
Honor like trust and respect, is something that has to be earned.

I have just made a recommitting decision as a Prodigal daughter to Jesus Christ. I have repeated the Prayer after you, Pastor Greg. I haven’t been going to my local church for almost a year now. However, I want to start going back. I’ve been sick & my 3 children have gone astray. I’m very fearful of them possibly going to hell because, of their fatherless upbringing & my neglect as their mother while growing up. I Have Been Watching You Online & You Have Truly Blessed Me With Your Sermons! Oh Lord, Please Reverse What I Have Done That May Have Caused My Children To Walk Away🙏. Thank You Father God. Yes. However, when you are facing parental abuse, you have to walk away. Why? It never is God's plan that a child be abused, since we are called to fulfill the Great Commission. This cannot be done effectively, if you are 'shelved' tolerating abusive parents. Amen
Agreed. I've had a sense of peace taking my abusive mother out of my life. Some people don't change.
My mother disowned myself and one of my brothers.
She was very hateful and controlling. We took it for years but when she started to destroy my daughter I put my foot Down.
My brother tried to stick up for me and she disowned him plus she hates my sister in law. My sister in law is wonderful and they just celebrated 51 years of marriage 💗
I have forgiven her ; she doesn’t want to reconcile. 😢

My mom was abusive twoards me she allowed my brother to beat me she talked down on me for talking back to her and trying to defend myself my brother who beat me also molested me my mom found joy in my abuse she allowed it my sisters closed their doors on me and talk down on me I wasnt raised with love and self respect since I was never respected and loved properly growing up I have ptsd I cant keep a job I have severe depression and sometimes in the verge of killing myself i lost faith in God i feel like i cant trust him my baby girl doesnt live with me anymore cause I was being the way my mom was being twoards me with my poor baby my sister betrayed me and behind my back she helped my sperm donor win custody of my daughter my enemies rise above me they do better then me and cause the way my mom talked down on me I was an easy target my own family made fun of me laughed at me and backstab me God Yahweh failed me now I'm stuck I'm hurt and I'm sick I want death to come get me i dont want to live a nother year my life has made me miserable I cant be happy anymore I dont find joy in God anymore I'm tired I'm just so tired why am I still here if God had just evil intentions twoards me what horrible thing is he going to come up with next I'm hurt and I'm tired what does God not understand from that

Pastor. I was married the first time when I was 16. Im 73 now. I was married 4 times. I had 6 beautiful children I thank God every day. I have been so ashamed for all of my sins. I was brought up loving Jesus. I had a wonderful grandmother who taught me so much about Jesus. My parents were divorced and I loved being with my grandmother. How can I not be ashamed of my adult life. I’ve prayed so hard for God to forgive me. I broke the 10 commandments so many times. Please help me. God Bless you and thank you.

You do not have to be ashamed before God for your past sins. If you have asked for forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ and you're trying not to sin anymore, you are absolutely forgiven by God.
Jesus died on that cross to pay for our sins. Do not worry because God says that when we are forgiven, he even FORGETS our sins and it is as if we have always been innocent.

The term "Honour" is ambiguous. But in reference to this context, Honour can also be identified as the moral knowledge of what is morally right. Bmif your parents are abusive and toxic and causing u to sin. Then morally u still have to regard them as Yr parents but u should not allow them to cause u to sin, in whatever way it may be understood. As Jesus stated, if your right hand causes u to sin, cut it off. So if your parents are abusive, loving them from a distance is the best way.
Sorry, this is another post on the same day but am just curious about your opinion out there on this. What to ye does it mean when God says to honor your father and mother and does not also mean to respect your father and mother and if so, what does that imply? Jesus also said that whoever does Gods will is my father, mother, brother and sister. Now, what must a Christian do when dealing with and or living with non Christian parents and family and also false Christian counterfeit Christian family such as uncle and aunt for instance??? When I was late with the rent for Mum, she said that the Bible says to honor your mother and that you should obey your mother and put your biological family before yourself and anyone and anything else, she also said today that it is my turn to buy for the house but I don't buy anything, which is actually not true,as I have bought mostly dinner, milk, butter and bread for the both of us for a long while, yet on many times Mum says to me and she tells others also, that I don't buy anything for the house or the basic necessities so she has to get them because there is nothing there. I confess, this provoked me to writing posts of gossip online to my Facebook wall in the hopes of informing others of her behavior so I could have a positive outcome. But I see now through the word that Jesus God says to not treat evil with evil and to not speak with evil, to be careful of what comes out of the mouth because it is wicked, to not hold grudges or hatred in the heart and to speak less and not argue over things which don't matter because this life is only temporary. So I tame and restrain myself know, even though it is hard because my family speak evil of me but I am trying my best not to curse them or violate the commandments or grieve the Holy Spirit so I will Mum and my family in general have their last word and I will just work on being holy and humble as best I can.
How does one honor their parents when neither of them want anything to do with their son?
We pray on behalf for them. My parents aren't talking to me ever since I revealed myself as christian. But remember we should always humble ourselves, and pray that Our Father in Heaven heal broken hearts, forgive their sins and ours and let God reveal His work and will. Jesus Christ so full of grace, has heart what your heart is yearning for ♥️
You can honor them without ever seeing them again in life. You can’t force your will upon them.
Jesus made new covenant it didn’t describe all 10 comments he’s not telling you Jesus told his apostles believe in me love me as I love you and you love your neighbor as I love you and all the other laws commandments fall under these two things ! Jesus knew even people will break one of those 10 commandments it’s not by your works or being obedient to Old Testament laws ! Besides the original commandments God destroyed them when Moses came down from mountain he saw the golden calf worship the original commandments that God wrote were destroyed smashed on the rocks only Moses by memory wrote what He could remember the commandments God wrote on the stones best he could remember! Jesus gave only 2 at time of his crucifixion!

Like you said, all the other laws fall under the two that Jesus emphasized on. That doesn't dismiss the others, it just shows them in a different light. Jesus also said that not one of the laws written down shall pass away, even when heaven and earth pass away. We still have to follow the laws, but when we break them, we can have forgiveness through faith.
