  • In this video I fold a damascus steel billet, twist it, and forge out a blank for a chef knife I made for my good friend Angus. A bunch of people chipped in some cash to pay for this blade in recognition of how awesome our friend Angus is and how much better our lives are for knowing him. Here's to you, bud!

Now i see the value of your earlier instructions on hammer swing technique. I always learn something from your vids. Keep them coming.

Well my friend, Hell of a job making that Damascus billet. I know a few people who have power hammers that they are no longer using. I'll see what I can do for you. Who knows we might get real lucky at one of them.

For any kind of "making of" video like this I think it's always better if you can show the finished product early on, I generally am much more interested in watching it made when I have an idea what it's going to be in the end. Of course the situation may not allow that. And also of course I have seen the finished product in this case.

Yep, that's the whole reason why blacksmiths recruited their apprentices young, so they have more years of sledgehammer swinging in them before they wear out!
