Recorded straight from game with Audacity on ASUS Xonar DGX sound card using WinUAE to emulate Amiga Paula OCS (MOS8364, 4 channels 8-bit PCM chip) sound.
Old enough to remember Track 4 was originally Zool's music ( first demo of the game ).
glad it endet up in Lotus. it was my goto when I played.

The Amiga was amazing. Such sound quality on a relatively small and affordable machine and the standard floppy disk was less than 1 MB.
Agreed. Always amazes me with the lengthy games often with great soundtracks that was stores on 880 KiB discs. If the same games were to be made to day they would be a lot bigger, to say the least 😄

I'm used to the MegaDrive version so hearing the Amiga version for the first time was quite a shock as it's soooooo much better...
I experienced it the other way around! I had the Amiga version first and got the Megadrive version afterwards

Amiga was an incredible sound machine. Light years better than all the other computers and consoles at this time. All Hail Paula.

i think maybe Monkey Island 2 had better graphics on amiga, than at Pc, at this time...

@@michaeljablonowski5014 But at least for Part 1, the sound was best on Amiga. Even Roland on the PC couldn't catch up. No wonder because they let Chris Hülsbeck do the sound. They should have done that for Part 2 too, this watered down version the Amiga did not deserve. Okay, it was already 11 disks, but when playing this from floppy, what difference would it have made if it had had 15 disks instead of 11 to include decent sound?
@@20windfisch11 I agree ... it was a pity that MI2 AMiga Version missed so many good music tracks from the PC Version...but i think with the amiga nothing more was possible

Played this one for hours with friends two player in one keyboard style :) Those were the days without any worries :)

we played 2 player, with joystick, i think.
Well, not without worries, cause keyboard could only process a few pressed buttons same time and sometimes player 2 couldn't make the turn if P1 was pressing too many buttons - resulting high-pitched screamings :)

This is probably one of the hardest game soundtracks for me to pick my favorite, since all 6 tracks are so legendary.
Track 4 was my jam back in the day. Somehow I had crazy focus back then. Tried the game again a few years back and I was wondering how I did it as a kid. 😅

Somehow i remembered few notes of last track, and randomly play those with taps or pen beats throughout the day( for decades it seems), years after only i found out that this is the game i got it from.

On the PC, the PC Speaker version is actually the second best to Roland for the music. Whoever did the PC Speaker sound was just brilliant, the OPL version for AdLib/Soundblaster was just pathetic. Even the stock OPL2 could do much better.

I've argued this before but, to me, the Amiga version has the best sounding music compared to the Atari, PC and Mega Drive. I must have played this game solid for a year on my trusty Amiga 600. The hidden Gamesmaster track was awesome

Also worth checking, Megadrive, or another name for the same Sega console, Genesis version. And Lotus 2 on Acorn! The Top Gear games on SNES. There are two, which haven't even had an Amiga version. in my dream these pseudo 3d racers are all being cleverly programmed to every 8 bit computer. I bet Amstrad and Sega Master System pkus the Apple II GS versions would stand out among the 8 bits conversions.
I mentioned all of this, because i had heard some rumours and have read Atariage forums extensively, so i suppose someone somewhere is writing Lotus II and III for 8 bits.. Atari 8 bit, Amstrad, Apple II GS, C64.

I only ever played this game on the ST back in the day, so it's really interesting to hear these tunes as the Amiga played them, because I recognise them, but they're different. Mostly better, obviously, though I think there's places where the tracks seem a bit cornier with sampled vocals in them as opposed to being pure chiptune.
The game with the sound, 2 player mode, was great fun at this time.

Think I actually prefer the "worse" version. This sounds super weird in some places.

Wow! zadziwiające jak dużo można zrobić ze starej technologi. Teraz jakieś fruity loopsy cubasy, a człowiek z pro trackerm i paroma samplami z copy party robi muzę, Która brzmi świetnie do dziś!
Wtedy zrobili dużo z tamtajszej technologii (czyli względnie nowej ale skromnej). Dziś nic nie zrobią bo to wymaga pracy i umiejętności (technologia jest i czeka).

You know, out of all the system I had in the 16-bit ear, the Amiga, Snes and Mega Drive, I always felt the Amiga sounded the more pleasing which is ironic because the Snes had a better sound chip but it sounded worse in a lot of games compared to the Amiga and that was likely because of the storage of the two, Amiga being cheap floppies whereas consoles being cartridges.
Track 6 was the best

Dude I look up soundtrack for my favorite childhood game Darklands, and I listen.. I recognize the tunes, but it sounds so wrong when it's not classic PC speaker sound. I know exactly what you mean.
