I was addicted for years to watching all manner of soap operas from the moment I got home from work to the time I went to bed. I broke away from that addiction.
Cooee from Australia, Richard 🐨👋😃 I've never tought about it before, but the UK has indeed had quite a selection of Australian soap operas over the years. Because 'Home and Away' was set at a beach, I wonder if that could be called a 'liquid soap'? 😉😆 And I wonder if ones from around the world that have been set in hospitals could be called 'hand sanitizers' 🤣 I've never really got into any soap operas, apart from 'Eastenders' when they started showing it here in the 1980s. Mum, Dad, my sister and I would watch it religeously after we got home from work from the city, complete with cups of tea, before the 7pm news. And it was very popular in Australia, yet after saying that it was returning "next year" before the Christmas silly-season started in 1988 or 1989, they (our national TV station - the ABC [which is our equivalent of the BBC].) never did bring it back, which seemed strange seeing it was so popular here 🙁 ...I think it only came back to Oz decades later on the UKTV channel on Foxtel. Anyhooo ...that was a good poem, Richard 😁👍 (and your changed-hairstyle's looking rather snazzy 😃✨👍).
Congratulations Richard Harries! Sometimes breaking away from TV 'friends' can take time and energy that is tested daily. There was only one soap that I liked - over 30 years ago. The program was cancelled, but I'm not sure why it was shut down. Now that you've kicked the habit, what replaced your attention? Very good my friend!
In the main in usual times performing the poetry I was going out four to five times a week mainly to charity events where I took the stage. Of course that meant I met people of all ages and backgrounds and vastly increased by circle of friends
