- Finally got the Stihl 036 Vintage Chainsaw put together! I added an aftermarket Meteor Piston and Cylinder kit from Wolf Creek saw Shop. New crank Bearings and Seals. New aftermarket Muffler, clutch and rear handle assembly. Rebuilt the OEM carb. Got her assembled and running and tested Her in some wood! Tried to keep the video under 30 minutes so I didn't cover every little detail, but hopefully you find it entertaining and informative 😊

Nice to see the older saws getting rebuilt and used.
The oil pump drives off the clutch like that so it’s not oiling the chain unless the clutch is engaged and driving the chain.

Very helpful. Rebuilding two 036’s, one has great compression so think it’s carb related, the other saw has little compression, so this will be super helpful. Subbed.

good find for 50 i just picked a Stihl 036 pro up for 50 on facebook guy sed he bought brand new along time ago ran it like 10 time put in the garage it sat for 3 years he tried to get it to start and couldn't get it to run so i went and got it for 50 the guy never cleaned it it was packed with saw dust i pulled the air cleaner and pushed the choke lever down the choke wouldn't close all the way because of it being packed with saw dust ware the choke lever mechanism is fired right up after that going on day number 2 of cleaning tho lol
That's Awesome Bryan, yeah lack of maintenance is the death of most Chainsaws, but that way we get em cheap!😁

I just took apart one my part saws I got gave to me old blue homliteXL12 it had a new looking cylinder but one spot on the bottom of tge cylinder about the size of a match head it had been sugared back in the day why it was retired iv got bunch of them super xl and xl12 iv got new stihl that I use got 3 sears ranger one runs needs air filter cover

What oil did you use for assembly?
I just used regular old engine oil, it burns out when you start it, but you could use your favorite 2 stroke oil as well 😁
Dude thses saws are hard to find. Just like the 044's!
