Your totem turned out great! Looks so nice in the garden. Great news on your husband's recovery! Thank God! So good of your sons & daughters to help you; credit to them as well. You'll be ready for the tourist season! Cheers!
Congratulations. Great unveiling. Bravo, bravo, bravissimo. Now we've seen ANYONE CAN DO IT. In 9 videos you shown us ANYONE CAN. Seriously in 9 videos you've shown us ANYONE CAN'T do this unless they have real discipline, real desire and real determination. You've shown so much technical skills too, but I don't think that should hold anyone back. I think every clay person should have a large work in their garden and with the totem method ANYONE CAN. Glad you found my old sculpture videos. I'll try to Facebook you some images from my Pipe Sculpture Workshop days. You've taken me back to my workshop days. Back to all the great people, artists, I had the chance to know and work with and the many directions their work took. I've been holding my breath with this and your family issues too, glad to see the light shine on both. You've won the Acadamy Award for potters. I won't ask what's next. It all starts with wedging clay; the big stiff will spring from the small.
Yes! Anyone can do this! Love that you pointed that out. I never tell my students they can't do something. Even if their skills aren't quite they're yet, they will learn something in the trying. Thank you for all your comments. It's been so great connecting and sharing the journey.
So so beautiful!!! The main part has a really peaceful vibe. It's wonderful that your hubby is soo much better. Sending a big hug to you and your family 🤗
It turned out magnificent!!! I just love all the colors you selected to use, that green and white with the blues and purples....all my favs!! And the center piece is fabulous. I too tend to get on this side of tacky myself, trying to display it all!!! But your yard is very beautiful and looks very stylish! When I started my pottery journey, that was THE thing I wanted to make was a totem. My skill level is not there, yet....I doubt I'll ever get to "your" centerpiece abilities....lol!!! Thank you for showing us the how to's and fixes!!! I just love this channel and all you share...you're my favorite potter to follow. Oh and yes...so happy your hubby is healing well, bless his heart, what scary times we live in!!!
Hi. Your totem looks soooo great. I want to make one. It's on my list of things to do. I'm glad your hubby is on the mend. One less thing for you to worry about 🙂
WOW, awesome, beautiful, I'm so happy seeing it finished ! It's been a journey, so glad you brought us all along. And congratulations on hubby's recovery. That can be so draining, take it from one who has walked that road for years. Bless you, and stay strong. PS: better keep him out of the garden😂
watching video on the tv, but writing on my lap top, great news about your other half, so glad he's truly on the mend, what a journey you have been on too, the blue in the plants is beautiful, put together was helpful, and certain NOT Tacky AT All, lol and the lighting at night, beautiful. thanks for sharing start to finish.
Wow this was a great birthday present to yourself! Im so glad Hubbie got the 'All Clear'.... this too is the best birthday present for you both!!!! 🎉🎂🤩🥰
This is so special. I was a thrower in my past life, but now primarily do hand building because I don’t have the strength I used to. I’m learning a lot from your videos… so thank you very much! And I’d love to see more awesome totems - This one is stunning. 🤤
Very impressive! And I love the idea of making yourself a birthday present every year. After watching your owl video(s), I was inspired to make a series I'm calling "My Hooters". I'm currently in the process of fussy glazing them for a September show but will send you photos when I get them done. Thanks for all the inspiration!
Thank you so much for taking us through from beginning to end. I’ve always wanted to make them , and yours turned out beautifully! Happy birthday 🎉 blessings to your family 💫
Thank you for sharing your journey. I started my first totem in October, and it's finally ready to put together. I had intended to use silicone. Lesson learned. In the high dessert, we get very little snow. Not sure how much sealing I need to do. Your input has been great.
This is amaaaaazing!!! My gosh this is absolutely stunning!! I didn’t even know you had to “glue” the pieces together. I assumed there was a temporary way to bond them. I am sooo happy to hear about your husband!!
I put rubber irrigation tubing over the rebar. It works great. I live in Arizona so I don’t have to worry about freezing. I just stack the pieces on top of each other. With them all glued together you will have a hard time getting it off the rebar. I use a metal pvc to create the holes in the pieces so they are all the same.
OMGoodness, that is awesome, incredible, beautiful, amazing....etc etc etc How are you going to protect it from the ice and snow? I live in NJ and would LOVE to do something like this as we are putting in pond in my backyard and this would be absolutely amazing! Can you please let us know (or did I miss your mentioning it) HOW WILL YOU PROTECT IT FROM ICE AND SNOW..INQUIRING MINDS WANT -- NEED -- TO KNOW. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....
I'm siliconing between the pieces to keep the snow and ice out, and I'll probably wrap a tarp around it. I've seen others do that with fountains, so in theory, it should work.
Such good news about Hubby!! I can only imagine the list of chores 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Wow Absolutely stunning!! It really does give the spirit of some sort of dancing lady at your front steps. I'll have to set up an instagram account so I can show you my Dragon sculpture I did inspired by your channel (Almost didn't get it fired as there wasn't a kiln in the area big enough for it. But then my local studio managed to get their super large woodrow going after the big flood we had a year or so ago. Note to self.... don't make stuff bigger than your kiln. This has been an amazing journey watching you craft her. Really special piece of art for your Garden, you must be so proud of yourself! Are you going to name her?
Epoxy is too ridgid for states that have freezing temps. I use marine silicone and build totems with glass since ceramics also crack in the winter. I have no problem with marine silicone. I live in alaska.

AMAZING, ON 2 COUNTS. So happy your hubby is out of the woods. Your totem has turned out beautiful. How nice to see it infront of your studio as well.
Your studio flowers look absolutely gorgeous and your totem compliments them beautifully. Very inspiring ❤

Oh wow, thank you! The cool thing about building a totem is that it could be any shape and made up of any style of pots. You got this.
Super job. Truly a masterpiece of creativity.

Another potter commented about using rubber tabbing over a pipe. She's in AZ and doesn't have to worry about freezing.
Beautiful!

Ooooh, I need to make her now! What a brilliant idea. I really need to see this dragon. And thank you. ❤️
Would fusing the small pieces together in the kiln have worked?
Yes, though they might not have fused on the level as things do move in a firing.
Epoxy is too ridgid for states that have freezing temps. I use marine silicone and build totems with glass since ceramics also crack in the winter. I have no problem with marine silicone. I live in alaska.
Where in Alaska? And that's great to know. Thank you.
what about an epoxy
@@creolelady182 I used clear silicone and E6000.
I hope your husband is well
