MAKElog#11 TI cheap sub 1 GHz spectrum analyzer tool - Quick Review

The Texas Instruments MSP-SA430-SUB1GHZ is a Sub-1 GHz RF Spectrum Analyzer Tool for $249. TI mentiones it is an inexpensive tool, which cannot be compared to professional spectrum analysers. I was curious how it works compared to a Mid-Range Rohde & Schwarz HAMEG HMS3010 Spectrum Analyzer. I am using the tracking generator of the HMS3010 for generating arbitrary carrier frequencies.
Summary: The MSP-SA430-SUB1GHZ is worth its money to determine a signal's frequency with a very good accuracy. The precision of power measurements seems to be limited, but the for the price you get a good and handy tool.
