The girl with the burn on her hand absolutely broke my heart. I got a second degree burn on a part of a single finger and I was in agony. It was truly unbearable and I was shaking in pain for hours. And that was a single part of a finger. I can’t imagine how painful her hand must’ve been. I’m amazed she didn’t pass out from it. I hope she was young enough that some of the trauma of it faded with memory. Poor thing :(

I’ve surfed for over 50 years, the last 37 in San Diego. I broke my ankle in 1988 at the Point Loma Nazarene College jump off point south of the rope climb they were showing. It was a big winter am in November and I paddled to the rope and climbed up by my self and hobbled to the parking lot and a guy took me to the old Cabrillo Hospital. Brock my ankle in 3 places.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Both Australian and American Lifeguards undergo rigorous training and work tirelessly to keep people safe. @@ryllaraevans822 I also watch bondi rescue and idk how it is in Australia but here in California lifeguards are employed through the fire department so they are probably act more professional because they are first responders the same as cops, ems, and fire fighters. Whereas in bondi rescue lifeguards seem to be their own entity if that makes sense, not just a division of the fire department.

I ran into a barbwire fence when I was 10, it hooked me in the upper lip. It was terrifying until my older brother said he'd give me $10 if I stopped crying. I stopped and got the $10 bucks!😁It took my mind off the horror of it all as $10 in 2023 dollars equals $80 bucks so it was quite a reward. All I could think was offer that little girl $100 bucks to stop crying to take her mind off the pain! 😁 I hate seeing children go through that!

@@RealLifeRescue The DR. that sewed me up said the scar would go away in several years! I've been waiting 53 years, and it's still there! 😁Too funny, another coincidental story. My daughter's lip, same side was clawed by our cat, and she too has had that scar now for 10 years, and I expect it will never go away. Moral of the story, don't injure your upper lip!👍😎✌🗽

Born in SD in ‘66 and raised in Bay Park & Clairemont. Miss the old days on the Bay and Fiesta Island. Pre-woke OTL team names. Grabbing tostadas at the old Tug’s Tavern in PB after a morning session at Tourmaline’s. Crazy parties at the model yacht basin with Sea World coworkers after baking all shift out in the parking lot directing cars. Riding rental horses from Brown’s Ranch in Sorrento Valley all the way to the beach in Del Mar. Building BMX tracks in Tecolote Canyon after Little League practice. Winter time two for one scuba certification at the PB Diving Locker and meeting the Nicklins. Heading down to K38 for camp/surf/fish trips. All you can eat lobster for $20 in Ensenada. My kids have no idea what it used to be like.

Yeah we can a lot of mental health issues over here. I’m just glad someone was there to help them. Of course having been to sunset rocks before, I know the cliff is pretty slippery and people think they can get down to those lower rocks without getting hurt. Which of course they’re wrong. I just hope he turns out okay.

People jump off the cliffs there for fun. It’s equivalent to jumping off a high dive. I personally would not do it as I know how dangerous it is and how treacherous the Pacific Ocean is, but many young men love doing it and accidents can and do happen.
