Instead of orb of protection try lights embrace. This has an extremely short cd and there’s a perk that gives you haste with it which stays even if you switch to the hatchet. Haste combined with berserk will give you an insane speed buff which is great for pvp.

Been running this combo since I started since I knew I’d be solo and I love it! Thanks for showing the start for attributes, it was the one aspect I couldn’t really figure out
Seeing as how with life staff + hatchet, you'll be fairly tanky so is there a reason to really go with heavy armor. Sure, more damage mitigation is always nice, but wouldn't 20% more damage + dodge cancelling since the travel system is complete ass be more beneficial. I mean, do you really need heavy armor when you honestly shouldn't be dying anyways? Life staff's heals are crazy high, and you'll have the hatchet's berserk giving you 30% of your health back over time. I could maybe see medium, but not heavy. Edit: Something else I just realized. With light armor, you get a 20% boost to healing. If you're planning to use this build to do expeditions as the healer, you would 100% want light armor and switching between light and heavy would be a pain in the ass for anyone leveling up since no one's gonna keep 2 sets of gear while leveling. Wouldn't light armor be the best choice?
The purposed armor change did not go live according to several testers, so you are not loosing 20% from heavy armor. Sacred Ground is by far the best heal ability, due to how long it stays on the ground, mana cost, and overall buffs. Getting the healing passives will give you a lot more survivability if you go into them.
I am pretty sure that orb of protection does not heal you but is meant for group members. Lights embrace would be better than orb. 4 second cd and is boosted alot if healing your self while standing inside sacred ground.
It does scale on weapon damage, however the focus stat will increase the life staff's weapon damage. There is a box on the right side of the attibutes screen that gives your updated weapon damage after attributes.
I don’t even need focus, just run strength & dexterity. Throw an orb on the enemy let them/it chase me then set down sacred ground. Food helps while inside, was able to do this with enemies 9 lvls above me.
Nice video! I've been trying to figure out which weapon I want to pair with the Life Staff, and I hadn't considered the Hatchet. As someone who finds himself soloing a lot, this seems perfect.
Thanks for the video. This is basically my build but a few changes. I think it would be better to show an elite fight for the videos rather than same or close level as these are super easy even if boss. Thanks heaps.
While this build is strong, you all should try the war hammer healer build. If you Stat all in to cc tree and bait all the mobs into your sacred ground. You won't die, you heal for 35% of the damage done for each cc ability, PER TARGET IT. Top it off with 50% increased heals from the ground, and you're also immortal. Plus bonk
But does the hammer deal any dmg? I tried hatchet and great axe so far as 2. For life staff and great axe dmg cant compare at all with hatchet lol and i think hammer will be even worse
@@richardsalzmann7946 you gain cc over the damage its really what you like more, crunch or slash. The problem with gaxe and great Hammer is that they heal with a percentage of your damage done. So for focus heavy build... It won't be much. Hatchet heal is nice because it's a flat 30% of your health over 10 secondes. But there's a point where mobs are going to overcome that healing. What kind of gem is recommended for the life staff, and other avaliable slots in the gear? Recon all in focus heavy attributes, any other perks that are tried & tested and nice to be aware of....?
The dps output is so low that your fights are 2-3x longer than usual. Ya you can stay alive but I think this is way more difficult. Hatchet and War hammer is amazing for pve, you can get heals from their skill trees.
That gem lowers your DPS. Someone made a video about it. After learning that I put the one that increases damage after getting hit 3 times. Great build though I am still pulling big groups at lvl 52 and walking away at full heath.

Are you sure that the heal buffs only apply when the life staff is equipped? I did testing and made sure to max healing output via buffs while in life staff. The one ability gives you stacking heal increase of 5% per stack (or its 10%, dont remember). I buff that up 3x, and then I dodge for that additional heal buff. And then ill pop heals. Ill ground target under my feet to get the orb of protection buff (This prevents me from wasting a point on the 3rd skill buff for that skill), and then ill typically just beacon under my feet as well because that persists on the player even if you move out of the area. Then ill just sit in sacred ground. Did some math and saw that, for example, I'll heal 60 with life staff + buffs on, and then ill switch to hatchet, and i'll heal 60 as well. Both have their pros and cons. Neither have the hatchets damage, but they both are arguably better for large groups and the hammer is 100% better for ccing, while also making you tankier. Like, if you need movement speed, having a passive node that gives movement speed might be nice. As far as hatchet, 100% Berserk, literally never run hatchet without it for any and all content, it's too damn strong. The rest is preference. Feral rush for the gap closer and raging torrent to burst them down is pretty solid, or you could even run one of the throwing abilities to say reduce healing/damage mitigation.

@@HackTheMinotaurTwo I feel like you didnt even test that and are just assuming. I have tested the "tankyness" of heavy vs med vs light and there isn't a big difference at all really.
VS groups dodge is basically useless if you're soloing since they'll just keep charging at you spamming attack after attack and you'll have no stamina at all. Not to mention that dodges don't even have s so you have to be perfect. To top it off, unless you play slow and get like...one to two hits (depends on your weapon aka attack speed) and then dodge...which takes decades btw, you'll get stomped. Honestly, wouldn't be a problem if you could just heal up between fights like what most mmorpg's do but hey...bezos fucked us Edit: Reason why taking slow fights is bad is because enemy respawn rate is way too fucking high. If you take it slow, by the time you kill the enemies, everything has already respawned around you and you get swarmed. I did spear/bow and would just get stuck at the entrances to camps because taking about 5 seconds to kill a mob is too slow....lul
Right on the point. The hatchet healing is nice but it's only a flat 30% of your max health. It gets overcome by mobs easily. GA and great Hammer healing are a % of damage, so only a few. The only weapon allowing to really survive anything is the sword due to it's passive (10% more armor, 10% more healing received, and a shield) imo.
@@Sadoruro I have been enjoying hatchet/life staff in rush outposts, especially when the groups are big. I throw a heal down and berserk, nobody can interupt my melee abilities. It's pretty nice. But I have thought about leveling up hammer or GA
Tried it, works, but one of the most dull, boring gameplay I ever tried in any game....respeced cause I actually want to learn how to play the game, with this build you are brain dead.
People who play new world, I don't think they respect themselves, or their time. The game is so bad, I'd do anything other than play it. Clean my house or play new world? Walk my dogs, or play new world? Do that thing I've been procrastinating on for weeks, or play new world? It's so bad of a game, when it play it, it makes me rethink my entire life. After playing it for a few hours, It's just so meaningless, so repetitive, so God damn boring, that I question why I have this hobby at all. If studios are just going to put out games that waste your time, why even play games at all? BUT BUT BUT, THE PVP: PvP Combat does NOT feel good, it's floaty, heavy attacks are useless. You can toggle pvp off, Nobody has it on, unless they are 30 levels higher than the zone, or running around ganking people in groups. The 50v50 pvp is a spammy, button clicking mess, that makes Dynasty Warriors, look like a realistic game. BUT BUT BUT, THE FACTION WARS: Faction imbalance on every damn server and one faction rules all the important zones so who even cares. BUT BUT BUT, THE SOUND: Yeah it's so cool how you can hear the hatchet in the distance as you cut down your wood. Enjoy your terrible tree cutting, ore gathering sim. BUT BUT BUT, THE CRAFTING: There's NO REASON to craft anything ever, because faction armor and drops are 100% better than what you make. You are actually WASTING your time with this game mechanic, just because you "enjoy" it. Should I even discuss the PvE or the quests/dungeons? The ONLY decent thing about this game is graphics/sound. If you enjoy PLAYING this game, there might be something seriously wrong with you. Like legitimately. Get help. I hate myself sure, but not enough to play new world. That's a whole level of masochism, that I don't understand.

Not to mention that dodges don't even have s so you have to be perfect. To top it off, unless you play slow and get like...one to two hits (depends on your weapon aka attack speed) and then dodge...which takes decades btw, you'll get stomped. Honestly, wouldn't be a problem if you could just heal up between fights like what most mmorpg's do but hey...bezos fucked us
Edit: Reason why taking slow fights is bad is because enemy respawn rate is way too fucking high. If you take it slow, by the time you kill the enemies, everything has already respawned around you and you get swarmed. I did spear/bow and would just get stuck at the entrances to camps because taking about 5 seconds to kill a mob is too slow....lul
Can tell you havent actually fought 60 plus mobs lol
I was thinking this as well.
Could it still work as a max medium?
Medium could work. Make sure to use a heavy chest and helmet mixed with other medium and light pieces for the best resistances possible
@@HackTheMinotaurTwo Actually for med load and max res possible would be, Heavy Head, Heavy glove, Heavy Boot, Med Chest and light pants.
in legit all the clips you are getting down to less that 500 health and using consumables. Thinking this is probably not a good build lol
Amber gem and any ele gem doesnt work and you will not get any damage. You can test it by yourself
facts
People need stop making guide video when their stats not even max out
This only good for open world solo. Cant offer much in higher dungeons.
It can as a healer, given a different life staff tree. I wouldn't focus on damage with this in a dungeon, you will get outdamaged by everyone.
a minute into the video... so basically your average healer build but using a hatchet
What about the last 4 points u havent specked
This build is terrible… this won’t work in end game expeditions or areas
its decent but spear and bow is way stronger atm.
great but 100% unplayable with level 60. To less dmg for Dungeons, to less Heal to be a healer.
zTakes too long
These videos are a dime a dozen, in the games current state any weapon with Life Staff is viable...even fists and Life Staff works...
Tried it, works, but one of the most dull, boring gameplay I ever tried in any game....respeced cause I actually want to learn how to play the game, with this build you are brain dead.
i used this build and died
Sigh, not even 60
People who play new world, I don't think they respect themselves, or their time.
BUT BUT BUT, THE PVP:
PvP Combat does NOT feel good, it's floaty, heavy attacks are useless. You can toggle pvp off, Nobody has it on, unless they are 30 levels higher than the zone, or running around ganking people in groups. The 50v50 pvp is a spammy, button clicking mess, that makes Dynasty Warriors, look like a realistic game.
BUT BUT BUT, THE FACTION WARS:
Faction imbalance on every damn server and one faction rules all the important zones so who even cares.
BUT BUT BUT, THE SOUND:
Yeah it's so cool how you can hear the hatchet in the distance as you cut down your wood. Enjoy your terrible tree cutting, ore gathering sim.
BUT BUT BUT, THE CRAFTING:
There's NO REASON to craft anything ever, because faction armor and drops are 100% better than what you make.
Whew, feel better?
Why even put your time in writing about it? Go clean your house then
Man how crappy is your life to spend time writing out a post on this crappy new world game.
wow! you need urgent therapy sessions
