I haven't ridden Crested Butte since 1988! It was unreal back then! So good! My first time riding there was on a 1986 Trek 850 with rigid fork (all bikes were rigid then) cantilever front brakes, and a Suntour PowerCam brake on the rear. We kinda slowed down...😂 Glad you experienced it. Come to the Gila in New Mexico and I'll show you some fun trails.
I rode Crested Butte in 1990, and the place was incredible. I remember doing some monster climbs followed by endless downhills. The place was incredible. Sweet vid.
What a great video, stunning views and a long winding single track to ride. You come across as a person who is passionate about mountain biking. Thank you for sharing this with us all.
Thanks for this, Matty. I don't think I'd capable of handling trails like this but I am looking for ward to hitting the local rails to trails again and videos like this make me want to get some miles in.
I was out there at the beginning of September. Amazing country and the riding is top notch. Hopefully, you got to ride more trails out there like Teocali Ridge and Doctor Park on your visit.
Beautiful place, I liked the birch forest the best. I could tell you were feeling that one by the time it was over, that's a lot of pedaling at altitude! Of course the lady leading you in didn't crack a sweat, she just rode off!
Spent a week there this past summer during Vinotok “festivities” - a little weird, but very fun and very interesting. MTB ride of note was the Teocalli Ridge Loop and the Teocalli Ridge Trail #557 (that is how they are referenced in MTB Project app). Amazing trail , long climb followed by fairly technical descent - some sections being quite difficult to ride - especially when exhausted. We were able to do quite a bit of gravel road riding on touring ebike which my not MTB friends loved.
The CB is just too gorgeous! I've fantasized about moving there (not gonna abandon the grandkids, tho, & my adult kids won't pull up roots), and your video affirmed my wish! Maybe, after getting my wound back and dropping a couple bowling balls worth of ballast, I might be able to ride that! Your best get, Matty -- and that's saying something!
Hey I’m a total beginner biker but excited to get into it! I’m enjoying your content. Can you make a video geared toward beginners on how to progress quickly? Things you have learned and tips and such. Thanks!
I was in CB this summer. Wanted to do 401 but did get to it. Did Teocalli which was amazing- did it on my ebike. Not sure I could have even done the climbs on my non-ebike. I probably could have done it, just would have taken a lot longer.

I really like that! Just a long flowy single track, not too technical, can do it fast or slow. Right down my alley! Nice!
me to
You have a great channel. I just bought a Trek Marlin for myself and my 9 year old son. So I'm looking forward to riding it.

What a great trail set Matty. I thought you were kicking ass considering the elevation.

That place looks amazing!
Snodgrass is fun. Have you tried the 401 trail? It’s the most beautiful trail ever

@@jeromep4148 teocalli climb is insane. If you like teocalli then you need to check out the 403 trail next time
This is really nice what kind of trail is this single track?
Can decide on a polygon T or a polygon D what do you recommend 👍
Go with T - much more capable.
What month was it? Doesn't seem too hot or too cold, but still green
It was in August
When was this video taken and was it hot riding out there?
Was this from outerbike ?
Yep!
@@MattyActive nice are you headed to
Sedona MTB fest?
Which trail?
Snodgrass
Thanks! Looks super fun, would love to try this sometime!
This is actually lupine and lower loop. Snodgrass is farther up the mountain towards gothic.
