  • Water Well Drilling in 4K
    - Drilling a water well in Louisiana
    - showing a well that's going to be abandoned cause of giving sand
    - Cleaning the mud pan
    - Checking for different layers of sand and clay
    - Just talking about drilling and joking around too
    Thanks to:
    Mr. Teme, his brother Todd and my friend Matt for helping make this video.

      Personally I like to have a lot of information about everything that's going on. Being a driller myself I can see a lot of things you do that the average people don't have a clue about. It's the details that make our job interesting and keep you on your toes. Every well is a little different and you have to know your equipment and how it reacts to the ground your drilling. What size of hole/casing are you running? Did you end up completing the well or trying something different? What was the water level there and the bottom you mentioned was a clay layer, is there another aquifer below the clay or are you pretty much out of luck if you didn't hit good sand there.

      Kenny Kemp Yea thats very true I'm more or less still learning about drilling I have many theories about it. Working with Mr Teme has been the only time I have seen and done this part of the job. I'm more or less a pump installer and water filtration of almost 20 years.
      Were also two different companies that work together from time to time and have become great friends. Teme and I have learned a lot from each other and can solve big problems when we get our heads together.
      For your questions about the outcome of the well, I will have to check in with him about it. Last I was there I didn't record but he was having trouble developing the well. He drilled a 6" hole to 70', then pulled back and did a 4" hole to 150'. This is where he set 10' of. 008 screen, and his own backwash valve. The casing was 60' of 4" for the pump and the rest 2" to the screen. He had stopped drilling the first day almost complete and came back the next morning to finish. There was just so much sand here a day so many levels of it, he said it caved in at the bottom of the hole. Wile trying to wash down the casing the backwash and screen became clogged. He had to run 160' of 1' sch20 pipe down to the backwash and flush out the thick mud and sand. After he pull it all back up really quickly he was able to continue washing down. After blowing the well with the air compressor he found that the well had trouble developing. It was only getting around 5 GPM at 60' drawdown. He wondered what had went wrong down at the bottom, but around here it's very uncommon to have trouble getting a lot of water just about anywhere.
      For how many strata there is many layers of average depths every 50' to 100' all separated by clays and sandie clays some areas with shells even near the lake. From Teme could tell you better but he went through quite a few strips of sand and clay not worth setting to narrow around 5'. The video I recorded was only of him drilling to about 90' that day and I missed the part pulling back up after 70' cause I helped with the drill stem. Thanks Kenny take it easy out there!

    I see that little rig getting about 3 feet down where I live before snapping a rod or spinning itself on the steel. We drilled in rock the other day for 9 hours with a 10 inch hammer bit and got 3 feet

      down here you don't need all that hyped up of a bit. One advantage too is you can often drill a shallow well by hand and get all the water you need within 20 feet. cant do that up north. Move south and enjoy the benefits. You will save money at the same time.

      George P. Well actually he just rebuilt the thing same engine and Derek but new mud pump and trailer. I have footage of the first well and talking about it but it was windy that day and audio sucks. But I should post it anyway, we took the time to document it. Thanks for the comment and watching!

    That’s what happened when you go cheap we been doing it since 1915 I been drilling for 35 + years and we don’t use plastic casing only steel I run a T3W in Missouri

    • @ClearWaterPumpWell
      @ClearWaterPumpWell  10 місяців тому

      Look that's all great but steel wells are trouble down here with water and ground conditions. The older steel wells some are still around but rot off and have big problems. Flow wells start flooding yards or washing out the ground around them.
      The reason those other wells failed was not due to PVC but because of a well driller that I wouldn't let make a POST HOLE in the ground! They would make their own screens, set casing not in the sand or in fine sand or clay. Caused problems with 50% of the wells they drilled. We are very fortunate to have unlimited water in many depths here in Louisiana. But that does not mean everywhere is easy pickings on some shallow wells.

      Take up drilling school at a community College or get a job working with a driller.

    What is the price range for drilling a well.. I am near Morgan City La..

    • @ClearWaterPumpWell
      @ClearWaterPumpWell  6 років тому +1

      Samuel Rock Not really sure man, I don't know any drillers in the area or know if you can even get a well there. It's probably going to be a saltwater well. I could be wrong but anything south of maurepas is brackish water. If you we closer to Baton Rouge you could get one for sure. Anyways take it easy man and thanks for the comment.

      You can hit the Mississippi Alourla Aqufer at approx TD 200. DNR list plenty of wells around me that were used for fresh water for oil rigs. What is the cost of drilling per foot where your at? It should be approx the same or less here our soil composition is mostly black jack clay.
      I am about sick of paying 150 a month to the parish for water there is no way we use that amount with two people in the house! I am to the point I am about to put a flow meter on my side the meter to compare the readings.. Although the parish says they have no responsibility to check the meter for accuracy.

    • @ClearWaterPumpWell

      Samuel Rock Wow man yea that's high for a water bill, they gonna hit you hard when they can! Well if that's so you could also check sonrislite and residential wells by gps make sure you convert mins to decimal and you can see what is around you. The trouble is finding a driller, I don't drill I just help a friend that has a rig and he doesn't go far. But roughly around us a well would cost you 2500 - 5000 depending on depth and system installed. sonlite.dnr.state.la.us/sundown/cart_prod/cart_con_wwr_bylatlong1

      Yea, that is the same site I was on... It list a few Heat Pump wells near me but no domestic wells. I am an engineer by trade and in order for me to use 40,000 gallons per month every sink, toilet and tub in my house would have to run for 80 hours per month.
      At the current rate i can pay a water well off in less than two years of parish water cost!
      If I cant find a driller I will buy a rig, One of the requirements to get a state domestic drillers license is you must have another driller sign off so ask your buddy what he will charge to show me the ropes and sign off on the state paper work.

      Clear Water Pump & Well LLC. I have done lots of shallow well with a pole cup and 3/4 pipe. But that was for water for the garden. I would not want to go 200ft. The deepest we have gone by hand was 70 feet.
