I do a roast on my SCTO setup, and show how my fume hood & cooling chamber work. More detail on the fume hood can be found on my site: tracezero.net/...
Great video. I'm using almost the exact setup except that I have made my own stirrer base. At the beginning I also used a p.i.d controller but now I just set it to full power and control the roast with the timer. It works very good.
I have the original arms on the stir crazy and a pretty powerful oven. However, I am getting inconsistent results with half the beans being smaller than the others. Would you think the modified arms would help with that?
Ha, I figured as much but...doesn't hurt to ask. You don't by any chance live in Oregon? Then you could become my friend and trade deep tissue sessions or banjo lessons for one :)
@@DavidPx yes way!! hahaa!!! it has a fan to evenly distribute the air/heat with the fan which also helps to get rid of the chaff and has additional IR-heating elements.

I built a vent hood using yours as guide. It works great, and it's great to have a dedicated fixed roasting space! Thanks for the post!
Wow, what a good job to build a nice chamber by your own!!
Thanks, very helpful!
It's very simple, lm impressed
I had the same problem with my Behmore. Much better results with the Stir Crazy
i have similar oven, but i don't know how i get the down part, can u help me? thanks.
Nice setup and good even roast. Well done. What's the largest batch you can do without sacrificing the quality?
***** Which wire do you disconnect to stop the heating element?

Does the stir crazy popper release heat? or is it only used to stir?
Do you have any info on how you built your SCTO? I found some various posts but none have the look of your stir arms, etc
+David Peters Thanks David!
Is there any chance you'd be willing to reproduce and sell the modifications you made to the stir crazy? I want to start roasting with mine!

I love the smell of coffee smoke in my house
I'm just getting into roasting. Is the popcorn popper not enough on its own to roast? Is the Turbo Oven necessary?
It depends on how much you want to roast. Bigger amounts the turbo is great. The popcorn popper is great for small batches.

Can you still use the lid to cook in the turbo oven after you have roasted coffee with it? Thanks
But does the lid pick up strong coffee odors that might transfer to the food you're cooking? Thanks again.
Hi. Are you still roasting coffee this way and if so are you still happy with the setup? Thanks.
