I know this was posted a while ago but it totally helped out so much my truck I just bought for my 16th birthday decided that it didn’t wanna stop when u push on the breaks so I looked it up and watched your video and turned out that was the problem thank you a lot
That's how I prefer how to videos, just show me the info I really don't care about your life story. I do my best to make videos like that. Glad you found it helpful.
The local parts store asked if I needed the electrical or mechanical vaccume pump. I'm guessing the mechanical v.p. is the one the video shows. Is that right? What's thd difference?
The local parts store has no clue about these trucks. There isn't an electric vacuum pump on the obs trucks. Electric vacuum pu ps where introduced in the 1999 model year and when they where introduced the mechanical ones went away. Find a new parts store my friend.
super helpful, 95 OBS 7.3 as the occasional driver, took lovely out for a spin today and just as I got home (thanks Ford for getting me home lol) break light on and hard peddle that would barely stop the truck... I will give the trouble shoot a go or from the prior vid and see how it goes. Now a shady tree would be super helpful as its like grease monkey on Mars right now~! have a good one Andrew!
So glad you found it helpful. I've got a video coming in the next week or so on the lift pump replacement so if you own an obs 7.3 make sure you're subscribed so you see that video.
Good day from across the pond, I'm not sure what retailers or brands you have access to, here's a puller from Amazon that should do the trick amzn.to/3M8PCTc I used a snap on puller #CJ117C but that's an expensive solution for a diy person. Let me know if that works or if you need more help, I'm happy go help however I can.
Very frustrating. I am on my second one within 6 months. The stock one failed after 136k. Replaced at 136k from Napa, failed on my way home yesterday at 137334. Wish the Motorcraft was readily available. Lifetime warranty on the Napa, hopefully it will last longer this time.
I have a different Dorman one and it stripped the stock ford pulley a little but seems okay is that normal ? I would like a ford/motor craft one, did you call a dealer to obtain yours or ?
@Ungodly Sorrows I got mine off Rockauto.com that was the best price I could find. The pulley is pressed on so I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say it's stripped, as long as it presses on tight and there aren't any sharp edges that will damage the belt you should be safe.
@@RogueWrenching oh okay they are out of stock sadly and I should’ve been more specific it stripped the bearing/inside of the pulley a little bit but thank you so much man
@Ungodly Sorrows Take the part number from Rock Auto and Google it. Maybe you can find it elsewhere. If I can help in any other way, please let me know, and I'll do what I can to assist you.

Good video. Professionally done, great information without the usual fluff and theatrics. Thanks.

I’ve always removed the pulley in the truck. I like your way a lot better.
Thanks for the feedback, the first few I did I pulled the pulley first then someone showed me this way and it's by far easier and faster.
Many thanks! Just installed the vacuum pump on my 7.3.
I'm so happy I could help you out!
Where did you order the vacuum pump?
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips! 🇨🇦👍
Happy I could help!!!
Greetings from Norway- I need the pulling tools- Have you items number for tools to remove pulley

Thanku very much I’ve got a 96 f 350 and don’t know that much bout diesels just know they pull hard and forever and havin that same problem
I hope you get it figured out soon!
I want to know why they fail and why I keep buying the same problem part

Cheep parts have gotten worse since covid. If you can find a notorcraft that's the best option.
Now you can’t get your hands on an OEM vacuum pump without paying $600 for it. Most websites are completely sold out on them, very difficult to find.
Yikes. I haven't looked for them in a long time.
Awesome thank you!
Share with your friends madman!
Where u order the Motorcraft?
Rockauto.com, Amazon, or a Ford dealer.
Part number?
Here's a Dorman one (probably the lowest cost option) amzn.to/3Li3hcb
Personally, for my trucks, I prefer Motorcraft.
