We moved to Maryville 3 years ago. While we're glad to be in TN, and are now settled, we wish we'd checked some of the towns further-out that aren't growing so fast and furious. Suffice it to say, the infrastructure is not able to keep up with the exploding population. The traffic is becoming horrific at almost any time of the day. Knoxville is in the list of cities with the highest traffic fatalities. Crime has more than doubled since we've been here and the police force is understaffed. The schools are very over-crowded. In fact, twice they've had to cancel because they didn't have enough staff. We know Niche rates the Maryville city schools highly, but they were very disappointing for our family. They show Disney movies the last two weeks of the year, all day, while it's the nicest weather in the TN year outside. They rely heavily on screens for everything. The kids are also pretty violent. Suffice it to say, the first year living here we had 6 grandkids enrolled in the public-schools and only two still attend. The others are homeschooled or in (very expensive) private schools. Maryville College is very Woke. As for Health Care, Blount County is not a real forward-thinking hospital. We spent a few years hanging-out there while my elderly father was in and out . The best health-care in the state is in Memphis, but, it's Memphis. But there are nice cities outside of it. And before you move within 100 miles of Oak-Ridge, do a deep-dive on the Cancer clusters in this area and how their development of the nuclear reactors have affected the water-table, lakes, etc. I do agree with this video as far as there being plenty of places to eat and shop, (fast-food everywhere) and lots of things to do.
The price point in Maryville is really good for sellers. If you'd like to talk about moving to a different town I'd be happy to help. I actually have videos of most surrounding towns of Knoxville. Sorry, your experience has not been great with Maryville. It isn't for everyone. I personally love Maryville.
Hello Chevy, my family and I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful city in 2019. We spent a week walking around, it was incredible. This time the motivation is to improve my English: at the end of this year my wife and I will go to Maryville for 3 months. We live in Brazil in Curitiba, Paraná. I hope to return to my city speaking much better than I speak today.
Hi Chevy, great info on Maryville Was Wondering at what temperatures does it get to in Jan Feb? At what temperature do you put your thermostat at? And about how much is electricity in those months?
Is that by knoxville right. I never have been there but i heard that it snowed and daw on internet that it flooded at grand ole opry my grandma has been there.
I would also add, easy access to I-75/1-40. You can leave in the morning and be in Florida by Dinner., or leave in the morning and be up in Michigan by Dinner since so many now are from up there. I live in Michigan but spend a lot of time in Knoxville area and the Smokies. Our aunt lived in Farragut and we fell in love with the area and the Vols.
To me Maryville,Tn is the best city to live in!!! I have been in Maryville,Tn for a least for 40 years or more!!! I would not move from hear for all the money in the world!!!❤
Well done video Chevy… I’m currently stuck in middle CO and looking for places to take my family the hell out of here before it gets the SanFran treatment 😂 We’re from the east originally (FL) and still want the 4 seasons, and TN is one of my favorite places on earth… will be calling Maryville our home in a few years for sure! Can’t wait to go visit again this spring.
Crime is on the low end compared to many other places. A lot of people with strong values and don't like riffraff have moved here really and want to keep it that way. the biggest complaints are too many people and ridiculous traffic but if they are quality people it keeps the communities strong and standing up to protect their town. Liberals won't be happy here!
Nicely done.
ty!

Great suggestion Derek! Thanks for watching and commenting!
You mentioned there are several lakes within 30 minutes of Maryville. Are there any swim spots closer? (Not pools)
Another great video Chevy 👍
Thank you!
Was there a movie theater?
Do you get floods there?
My family and I are planning to move to East Tennessee in a couple of years. Maryville is high on our list for the same reasons that you mentioned.
Thats great to hear! If you need any advise or help then feel free to reach out!

Is kayaking available in the fall?
It is! You just have to find a decent day to go. I've seen people going down the river in the middle of winter.
Tell me about the dirt track racing in and around Maryville for Late Model Racing, specifically.
Smokey mountain speedway is the only one in Maryville. You will find tracks all around in other towns though.

Heading over next month to look at properties 😁 what is the crime rate (if any)
That’s great! Let me know if you need any help. I don’t know what the crime rate is but I live in Maryville and love it!

Noooooo wait for me to go look first!!! 😆😆
It's full of closet and open fascism especially the republican government.
Your videos are very informative, but I would rather see videos of the towns than you talking. Please show more videos of the actual towns.
