Yes they do, there is so many. Most you could keep at 23-25oc some others prefer higher temps, then there is humidity and sizes of enclosures. That's why part one was ghost mantids. 2nd one will be budwings and then moving on to the next three best starter species for beginners.
I have been wanting a ghost mantis for 10+ years and I finally asked my twin sister to get me one for my birthday if she really wants to blow my mind…then she said she wanted to get a dragon mantis. My point is, space is very limited so TOP question…can we keep them in the same enclosure? If not, that’s understandable..where do I buy her? When I was 11-12 years old I raised a female praying mantis and found a male and bred them and when she made her nest I found the best place to put it..and when I was about 32 I lived somewhere with a balcony where a very young female flew up to me and seemed to insist on being friends. So I have experience with them but I don’t want to screw it up if I buy a ghost mantis. I’d be humiliated if I messed this up…
I’m in the Uk just about to start out - will I need a heat mate or lighting , hoe important is a thermometer and hydrometer ? Great site and vid - thank you Barry
Hi Baz, depending on what species you are having I don't use heat mats myself . Hydrometer is the same depends on species, most of the beginners species like, Budwing, ghost, giant african, Shprodomantis etc can be kept sprayed with water depending on there humidity needs. I either use heat lamps or a heated room, or the lights in a exo terra tanks for heat with a dimmer thermostat. So there is a few options there. If you do purchase or going to purchase a mantis let me kmow first if I can help I will buddy. I am on Facebook if that is easier so can drop me a message there and will give you all the advice I can.
Great work taking it all in and making notes 😂 I have a question about the temp I’m looking at getting an Exo Terra not sure of the size to go for I would like to be able to have any size mantid with the necessary experience so only planning on one tank maybe what size would you go for in my position when I have the Exo Terra I see you have a light set up could I keep my ghost mantis alive ok with a heat mat stuck on the side or would you recommend the bulb set up my idea is to put the 16 Oz and then 32 Oz cups in the Exo Terra until they can survive ok just in the Exo Tank and obviously can I keep ghosts together I have read that I can but I would appreciate your advice Regards
Hi the exo terra I bought the hood for with a heat bulb 25w, I use a dimmer thermostat to help regulate the heat, I don't like using heat mats as I have seen some set on fire. However other people have used them just fine. Regarding ghosts in a communal setup I would rather not do it, yes they can live together but they will also eat each other to lol. It happens so it is entirely up to you, some people have been OK with keeping ghosts together others not so lucky. I would imagine a bigger enclosure with maybe 4 adults would work in the hope they don't cross paths until needed to mate. They will eat other though so I would rather keep mine separate 😂😂😂
Hi Cecilla. When they are Nyphms I fed them a few fruit flies every 2-3 days then move up to bigger fruit flies when they are l3. Once they have passed this I feed them either curly wing flies, small green bottles etc and feed them the same. You can tell by there abdomen alot if they need feeding. Over feeding can cause them to be sick and their abdomen to burst.

hello friend i'm vietnamese i'm not very good at english so i might not understand much but i have a question that ghost mantis i've seen have green ones but
+cheesy chits tomato sadly, they usualy don't pull through when the raptors are stuck, well I haven't have had any and seen any. Fingers crossed for you and hope it pulls through.
I wouldn't, they can find it hard to find their food. Ghosts don't move to much so adding a small mantis to a large enclosure is something I wouldn't advise. Kind regards The Mantis Man
@@TheMantisMan I got my L3 in a small solo cup. She is really small. I’m feeding her fruit flies, but until she molts and gets bigger, should I keep that as her enclosure?
They cannot climb smooth surfaces like the devil's mantis and thistle mantis. So need mesh on the sides or netting enclosure. Now about Humidity and heat I would have to look it up as I have not kept this species. I will have a look as they may need higher humidity when they are adults but lower when Nyphms I can try and find out for you.
With it being Idolo I would say high temps, I wouldn't recommend these as a beginner species as if they have needs similar to idolomantis they they needs are very high. Humidity 50% as Nyphms then higher as pre adult and adults and high temps to. Flying prey only and that's all I can say. I would guess with it being Idolo species its needs are very high and that being said I think they would be a hard species to keep.
They are 32oZ or 16oZ delic cups, the company I had them from was Mantis Empire who is closed now but still has them and may still sell them. I have seen other people using them but no where selling them as of yet.
Great video, man. My male and female Ghosts have just reached adult, hoping for a hot date in a couple of weeks.
Hubba Hubba time lol
What are the chances of 1 eating the other ?

It's a royalty free song from a website call bensound, the link is the the description. The sound is called 'summer'.
yea fruit flies are cool feeders but i am just scared they will crawl out so I have one question, can I feed my mantises small ants?

How long do they usually live after they have their adult wings?
Depends on alot of factors, males have a shorter life span, and other factors too. Mine only lived another 2 months after this.
