The more I learn about the VB the more I love it. I just send an 1/8th note trigger to Plonk and fill up its modulation points with outputs from VB and run a 4x4 kick in background. Just keep pressing RND on VB and get randomly created funky bass lines.
Is there a way to limit the random sequence to 2 or 1 octave? Im just planning my first case, dont know if will have budget for VB, but i m sure i wanna buy it later. I love its functions for parameter sequencing but would love if could use it as a pitch sequencer too
Thanks for breaking it down quickly and efficiently. I learned so much even though I've read a ton about this article. Had no idea there was a built in quantizer.
Can anyone answer me this odd question? I have a clock in to my voltage block from my bloom sequencer clock out, if I click shift and "rnd seq" it runs a random sequence. But if I click FWD it stops responding to clock even though the switch remains in "clk" position? I've not used the VB much yet and I think I may have put it into some mode where it doesn't respond to clock in for some reason? How do I get it back to normal?
Thanks again for another great video. One question. In the video it looks like the Voltage Block is also creating a gate along with CV. Is this correct or were you doing that from another module?
Good question! You can hit Shift, and select one of the top row of buttons to select and then edit that particular track. You can hit that button again, and it will toggle back to edit all 8 tracks globally.
You tune your oscillator or other sound source to whatever root note you like (C4, Eb3, whatever) and then the 1V/Octave coming out of the VB channel would move _that_ note up and down according to the sequence you program.
I keep forgetting to patch smarter, but then I watch one of your videos and I remember
Man with Alzheimers forgets he has Alzheimers and remembers everything
I use a Varigate 4+ as gates for the first 4 channels on the Voltage Block. I use the other 4 left over channels as modulation sources.
Are you supposed to use a second channel for the triggers/gates?
That's what the Varigate is for

oooh that sounds awesome!

Thanks for the video. Can someone explain how the gates are sequenced in conjunction with the melody CV from Voltage Block ?
so, in order for the voltage block to go, you need to feed it a gate. So just mult the gate before you put it in the VB and then use that!

looks complicated for me
Still coming back to this video nearly 5 years later to figure things out when I haven't played this one in a while. Thanks Joe!
This one vs Rene v2??
Another solid video demo, thank you!
Welp I was thinking of getting a flxs1 or a renee '18 but shiite....Gonna have to ponder this.
Quantizing is nice but one thing i dont understand is where you can set the key for scales?
That will be defined by the tuning of the oscillator you use.

That’s weird, I haven’t heard of that quirk... you might send an email to malekko, it might a matter of reinstalling the firmware or something!
nice demo, thanks!
Nice
This and Metron
your demos are the best thanks !
👍🏻

I had the same question. I’m assuming the varigate is connected through bus and sending a gate?
I never see the 2 separate so I'd have to assume yes
Thanks. What i don't get is how to select a track without having to move its slider and thus change its sequence ?

Thanks a lot.
Needs more inputs. Is there an expansion module?
Inputs for what?
@@josephwright5140 Such as, Scale, Freeze, Fwd, Rev, Step (step addressable by CV), single-shot sequence trigger
Great demo. Is there a way to not use the sliders to input notes. Like if you want to play a C for example?

Is there a way to recall presets from cv?
krakou2 great question, but I don't believe so... maybe in a future firmware update though...
