YESSSS. i 100% agree with the fact dazai doesn't change, he just adapts. the only reason hes at the ada is because he feels obligated to go through with odasaku's dying wish. should oda have been anyone else, telling him to protect and help orphans, he wouldn't have batted an eye. he never would've left the mafia. he doesn't get angry, but he does hold grudges-and he has one against mori (and ango) for having a hand in oda's death. he knows he and chuuya, soukoku, was the pm's best assest. so he left, ending the soukoku duo, taking himself, the demon prodigy and pm's grim reaper, away. he's adaptable, multifaced, and a master manipulator. very complex. he's so interesting.

Never thought I'd see a video where they agree with my interpretation of Dazai's character and how he uses a facade around the ADA members because I don't think they would accept Dazai's true self, and how the only reason behind him wanting to be at the ADA is simply to fulfill Odasaku's wish. Plus the fact that we both believe that Dazai doesn't hate the Mafia, it's just Mori that he despises, and how he probably would rejoin the mafia if Mori died, because he was free to be his true self, alongside the childish parts of him, and he was never once judged by anyone in the mafia. I truly cannot wait for the final product, keep up the fantastic work. 😊

i think, and please don't take this the wrong way or something i just really love analyzing characters and discussing it with other people LMAO, i think your view on dazai's character is slightly wrong. i don't think dazai would join the mafia again if mori died because, as you said, he joined the ADA to fullfill odasaku's death wish, but working there also changed his morals and his views on the world. i don't think dazai was "free" in the mafia, his whole character is based off of the fact he doesn't feel human, he must've been treated like he was the incarnation of the devil himself (hence the name demon prodigy cough cough) which only encouraged dazais thoughts about himself, that's why odasaku had such an impact on dazai; he didn't treat him like he was the demon prodigy, he treated him like a human. the only real times we see dazai be "free" or "himself" is when he's with chuuya (apart from the obvious undertones their relationship has....... chuuya is the most similar to dazai; "an inhumane weapon designed to be used by others" (professor N, mori)) and odasaku (the only one who treats him like a normal human and doesn't fear him), but odasaku's dead and he has a complicated love-hate relationship with chuuya, so i don't really see WHY he would willingly join the mafia if mori died when he has nothing waiting for him in there, he himself admitted that "saving people is definitely more beautiful". This looks so great so far, I love that you're not going to include the Fanon idea that Mori SA'ed Dazai but I would also like to point out that nothing in canon has stated that Mori abused Dazai, hell its a canon fact that from the get go Mori was downright terrified of Dazai, stating that he wasn't just smarter then him but also had a darkness to him that was unrivaled even in the mafia. I always have thought that with Dazai its more Nature then Nurture, and Dazai I believe probably used Mori just as much as Mori used him.I also fully agree with the idea that a lot of what the ADA sees in Dazai is mostly a mask and if Oda never asked him to he wouldn't have ever left the mafia, and to be honest I can see Dazai eventually going back as its where he can do the most. Finally one small request is can include the tiktoks where Ango questions Dazai about bringing Sukuzawa to Yokohama and if he was going to start a mass suicide and if you can the ones that show the dialogue where Mori says he's scared of Dazai right from the beginning. One more is the fact that ive never seen anyone actually have the ADA think about how Dazai infiltrated Dead Apple (as far as I know it was something he did on his own) and how that means that he knew what was going on and where to find them but never told anyone and let the deaths continue just so he could get some info on Fyodor.
