FlossTube #11 Sawdust Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Per requested, I have produced this video as a tutorial for filling small cross stitch pillows and other types of small pillows with SAWDUST.
I've learned so much from Vonna Pheiffer and love her tutorials on her youtube channel called Vonna Pheiffer. I recommend watching all her videos for more information regarding all kinds of finishes. Her video titled "FINISHING: A Simple Pillow Ornament with Vonna, The Twisted Stitcher" shows the machine sewing the edges of her pillows and reinforcing the corners.
Stitch Etc in Farmington MO is selling bags of their pure wood sawdust. Give them a call to order some.

Enjoy!
I cannot tell you how I have been waiting for someone to do a tutorial on this. This was so helpful and I feel like the next time I try sawdust it will go a whole lot better. Thank you!
Thanks Lori for a great tutorial, the little pillow looked beautiful. Great work cameraman.
Thank you Lori so much for this great tutorial!! Several years ago I bought some Natural
Pincushion Pine from Brenda Gervais, she said she uses it for all her smalls, but I never used it because I was sure how to. So now thanks to you I can start using this for my
smalls. Your husband did a great job on those close up shots and I could see really good
how you stitched the opening. Thanks again Lori, Lynn
Great tutorial Lori! I am so glad you filmed this and Thanks to Chris for the assist! I have never considered sawdust because I thought it would be too difficult, but you just proved that it can be much easier than the fiberfill. I will be searching for a sawdust guy very soon! Thank so much!!
Yeah…that is how I fill my pillow also. Thanks for the tip on the rectangular pillow.
Happy Stitching! 🧵🪡❤️
Thank u. Finally, a tutorial on this.!!!!!
Your tutorial was wonderful!! Thank you for sharing, keep doing them, I love to be shown how to do things!!
Thank you so much for a really good tutorial. I’ll be using saw dust from now on. 🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
Thank you so much.
The close up of stitching the seam up were so helpful...
Feel much more confident noe about using sawdust as stuffing
Thank you, thank you for such great tips. I used sawdust on some Christmas ornaments in December and it was a messy job, but i did like it when it was finished. After several different attempts, I did start using a funnel, but mine is from my kitchen and a hard plastic. This tip to use the flexible funnel is brilliant! You did a wonderful job on your tutorial. Please do more of these! I loved meeting and talking to you at Stitch etc. in October. Great experience!
Very nice video with lots of information. Thank you. I love your videos! 🌲🌲🌲⭐️⭐️
Thanks, Lori! Great tips--you made it look so easy!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I love cedar shavings. This is so helpful.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been wanting to try a sawdust finish and now I know how.
Great tutorial! Thank you so much Lori for sharing!
I always use sawdust in my little pillows, and I love the way it feels, but I never thought about putting dried lavender in with it, great tip!!!
Good job Lori and no way should you stop tutorials. I have been so reluctant to use sawdust but this didn't seem to be messy at all. I need to find a source and give it a go. Thanks for all the information as well. Very helpful. Hope to hear from you again soon. Norma in Boise, ID
Hi Lori! That was a very informative video. You did a great job! Lots of good tips and easy to follow. I will be using more sawdust in my finishes now. Thank you! 🪡🧵🪡✂️✂️✂️💕💕💕
Thank you Lori, great tutorial 💜
Thank-You Lori. Great tutorial and tips with using sawdust! Definitely does not seem that messy. Purchasing the funnel ASAP.🪡🧵
thank you for the tutorial. After watching you I did one and it turned out great!
I love stuffing with sawdust love the feel of the finished piece. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. I have put that funnel you use on my list to pick up. Great idea :)
Thank you so much for the tutorial. You answered many questions that I had.
Perfect Lori , thanks🤗♥️
Great tutorial, Lori. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this video. I’ve had my sawdust for years and didn’t know how to get the sawdust into the corners. Or if I had to add some batting to keep sawdust in the pillow when you close up the pillows. Great tutorial
Great great video. Thank you so much. I learned a lot.
Thank you Lori. Very helpful and please don’t stop doing tutorials! You did a great job!
Love your tutorial, I have learned a great deal!!
This is an awesome tutorial… Thank U ❣️
Ok, Lori! You are my hero! Someday I will meet you and hug you for doing this great tutorial. I was using the wrong sized funnel and didn't know to use my chopstick to help it go into the pillow! Great tips. I do most everything else that you and Vonna do, so now I feel empowered to do this. And, by the way, I am stitching that very adorable Pineberry Lane pattern next week. Your hubby did a great job filming and supporting! Thank you, thank you!
Great tutorial. My bag of saw dust has been just waiting for me to have the guts to try it. Thank you❣️
Thanks for sharing!
❤❤❤ thank you for the tips!
Thank you!
Thank you so much, Lori, for this sawdust tutorial. I’ve been wanting to use sawdust in my pillows but thought it might be too messy - you showed that is not the case and I’m excited to try it. Thanks to Chris, too, for being such a good cameraman! The close up shots were so helpful!
This is great!!
Great tips, thanks!
Thanks Lori...I need to find a wood guy!
You are such a delight, you even make sawdust stuffing interesting and sophisticated. Thanks for the tips, I need one of those funnels and my husband being a car guy can fix me right up. Hugs, Kristy.
Thank you - missed "our song" though!
Thank you Lori ! Got to find me some sawdust now ! Happy Stitching and Designing ❌🧵✂️🪡
When you are talking about the fabric manipulation book, we’re you talking about “layered cloth the art of fabric manipulation” by Ann Small?
That could be the one, I haven't seen it for years.
I cut the top off of a large plastic Pepsi bottle and it makes a great funnel.
Just found your Flosstube- really enjoyed your tutorial on sawdust filler. Where do you get clean sawdust and do you know what linen you used for the Shepherds Bush Happy Thanksgiving pillow? Thank you, Lori. And, oh, I love your stitcher’s folk song at the beginning of your flosstube!
Thank you, Cheryl! Email me & I'll send you the sawdust guy info. I think the linen is just an orange or Halloween Orange Zweigart. Jamie at Craft Center of Fine Stitchery will know the linen color/type for sure...you could call her and ask. Refer to me buying it from her & that it was a weird long strip that was left.
Thank you for sharing your stuffing process and set up. What is the design and linen of the second pillow? So cute.
I'm going to share the second pillow in another video that I've filmed, just need to process it. But, in the mean time, I believe the one your asking about is in the "Thanksgiving Triffles" from Shepherd's Bush.
Shepherd's Bush can kit it up. I used a Wichelt orange linen that I had in my stash.
May I ask, do you interface the stitch side and the backing cloth?
Yes, I do interface both the front & the back pieces👍🏻
Can you please share where you get saw dust
Yes, I can, please send me an email with the request 😉. My email is in the drop down box.
Email for wood worker.?

Sorry, I forgot to add my email. I'm gathering my sawdust guy's information.
