Your technique and thought process are paramount. Mine is much simpler, probably not as lifelike. Dragonflies are a staple for warm water species where I fish. They eat the nymphs all year round. The thorax technique is especially good. I'm going to try Antron for the wings rather than flash. The flash looks amazing. Tight lines.
Hi Paul, and Thanks for the comment. The Antron will do the job, I sometimes use "Tiemco TMC Aero Dry Wing" which is a Hollow Fiber (a bit expensive) but floats well. If You don't know the deer hair Dragon Nymph, check it here, it's my favourite dr. nymph pattern. Take Care. BK. ua-cam.com/video/Ln78B1ejXng/v-deo.html
Once you get your master pattern get a firm piece of thin plastic or aluminum and make a duplicate master. Lay the master on the foam rubber and cut new patterns repeatedly. This will save mega time in completing you fly.
Great fly! Thanks for sharing and taping in English. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I only speak English. Wouldn't it be easier to glue the sections together before tying them together? Just wondering. Hope you catch a large fish. All the best, Sean You have a new fan.
Hi Sean, I had tried to glue it, first with superglue - did not work, then Contact Adhesive ( Pattex Chemoprén) that worked. But did not find it necessary. :) Sure it can improve durability. Thanks for kind words. Take Care. BK
Hi Andreas, of course, it is kind of occasional pattern. I will not fish it all day long. Thrown it, is like cast big pike streamer. I did some realistic wings before, from a thin plastic sheet, now that was an issue, made a noise like a chopper and twisting line horribly. :) But this work just fine (little twisting) And is more durable than feather wings. I raised few, very nice, bottom lying Brooks on hot summer days with these. Have a nice day. BK
