Rest in peace, Ryuichi Sakamoto, you were one of the greats! And you will be remembered!
Want to cry? Want to get emotional at hearing and seeing this being played to you and several other audience members in the late 1980s? I've seen a lot of concerts over the years, but this one was uber special!!
NEOGEOツアーは完成度超高い😍大好き!
I'm listening to this in 2023 and it's like I'm back in 1988 when I first listened to this. Love it!
1987 I'm 22 once again !!! One of the track of my life ! An explosion of emotions here in Paris France ! A genius !!!
この曲好き……懐かしさを感じる琉球ソングと、近代のテクノの融合って素敵だよね
I love how he perfectly mixed Okinawan with modern music and a pinch of the Balinese monkey chant
Driving through downtown LA with this playing is otherworldly
it doesn't come much better than this . . . Sakamoto's genius for 'welding' east and west! Brilliant!
Interesting he's still using the early Yamaha DX7 in 1988, I have one here, they were introduced in 1983.
I’ve noticed that a lot of late 80s musicians preferred to use the og DX7 instead of the newer models. I guess if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Absolutely brilliant stuff! Integrating traditional Okinawa folk with "house" music. Killer stuff!
My favorite all time, it still gives me goose bumps.Kyddoemiko.
I was at this show!
Will always love this…..
沖縄合唱団(オキナワチャンズ)が歌ってる民謡は「耳切坊主」です。歌詞はちょっと恐い内容です。
thanks! I would've never known what they are singing... looked up online and found the story of mimichiri bozu
I saw this show in Los Angeles. So great to see this video! Does anybody know who the bass player was? Sounds great here.
Barry Johnson on bass here, from Queens NYC.
@@vbassone Thank you!
@@vbassone and @joanne7631 These exchanges restore my faith in humanity. And the music, too, of course.
@Bierreisender I think we all know Sakamoto is an amazing muso, so it was good to see the girls take the spotlight if only for a moment :)
いい!
RIP!!!!!!
Immenso!
Good music
anyone knows who was on Drums? On the record it sounds pretty much like Sly Dunbar.
David Palmer (ABC, THE THE, YMO, YUKIHIRO TAKAHASHI)
