I love Alyana so much because she's so articulate and talks about sensitive topics like this without spiraling everywhere. She has a voice that makes people want to listen to her because she has an open mind and is so straightforward! ❤
I love to see how Mak’s sense of humor has been developing and showing more and more on each episode! She seems more confident and comfortable. I love it!!!! 💕
I came here all the way from Apple Podcasts to vehemently support Alayna in her CORRECT pronunciation of Badminton. Sincerely, an Atlantic Canadian who refutes any argument based on regional dialect because have you seen a map of Canada?
i believe the things she lists will not "breed acceptance", but create confusion among children. i was confused about my identity in my teens, and in hindsight i'm glad i didn't have easy access to "medication" which would have only set in motion an irreversible process. turns out i was just lonely and hoping that might magically change if i identified as the opposite sex. it's normal to feel curious as a kid, it's normal to be confused about yourself as a teenager, it's normal to feel confused about the opposite sex as a teenager, it's normal to be a drag queen or drag king as an adult. it's not normal to be a man today, a woman tomorrow, a man the day after tomorrow, a woman the day after ...
That's why education (specifically, educating women and girls) is sometimes considered one of the top ways to fight climate change; because it empowers people to become better people and take care of their communities
@@CronoBirdgeneralizing because of your own experience is not a good play in this topic. There are millions of children today that are not able to be themselves because of a lack of acceptance, and this denial of choice only contributes to silence and isolate them, even antagonizing them and breeding self-hatred that will be reflected onto the community. It is much more important to let that grand majority have the opportunity to choose than it is to worry about the miniscule minority that will regret it. Especially considering that those who regret it will be accepted and supported just as much as those who don't. Why would you choose not having to deal with confusion for a few more years over the freedom of self-expression and safety of your peers? And yes. It is normal for people to have a sense of being a man one day and a woman the other. Non-binary people exist, and that person you described is literally the first enby I've met.
I love how the beginning of the episode was Ashley being like what if we buy a cabin in the woods and just make content and Alayna and Mak were like nah and then by the end they were like we are all living in the bunker and making this podcast. This is how all these types of discussions should evolve 😂
Fun fact: the gay wedding website case was based on a lie. The man who supposedly ordered the website is in a straight marriage and the web designer had never made a wedding website. It should never have been heard.
I think both are correct, it might just be a Canadian vs USA way of saying things. In English I'd only ever heard the way Mak and Ashley said it and I'm european
Me over here clapping about half the things were said in this episode. This whole episode deserves a round of applause for the information they’re able to tell here to show and tell about and how clear! Absolutely amazing words Alayna !!!
YOURE ALSO VALID IF: You’ve been trying to have these civil and loving conversations for 20+ years with a father who says you’re going to hell. Sometimes you can NOT change their minds and you need to let go. 💕
It’s hard to ignore the situation that happened. Influencers don’t always handle things as everyone thinks they should, and obviously they can’t please everyone. But i think the only way, Ashley, your apology will actually be taken seriously is if you truly change your actions and think before you say something as cruel as that to a fan. It was not a joke, it came from what sounded like real anger. I get not wanting to bring up shit in ur past but if this has happened many other times it should be something you address if you want people to take you seriously. I really want to keep listening to the podcast because it was my favorite part of Wednesdays but i find it really difficult after hearing the audio and how extremely hateful and violent the words that you said to a fan were. I came to this podcast supporting Alayna and then found Mak and i wasn’t aware of Ashley until them. Although i didn’t start as a fan of Ashley i started to understand a bit more of how their dynamic works together, but at this point it’s incredibly hard to stand by and support someone who told someone to unalive themselves. And their mom should have “unalived them at birth”. This is not trying to “throw out a person”, it’s just really hard to listen to someone after hearing them say that.
Oh shit, I didn’t know that Ashley’s therapist passed away. I can’t even imagine the feelings one goes though that. I have a therapist I’ve had for a year now and atm I can’t see my life without her in my life since she’s such a support for my health. It must be soul shattering when someone that you see for a long time disappears.
U know the Song "someone great" by LCD Soundsystem? That's what it's about. He wrote it abt his therapusy passing. When u read the lyrics with this in mind it makes so much sense. It's really Sad but just so good
For fun dates - there are websites that will give you fun scavenger hunts for certain cities. And even if you know the city fairly well you'll learn something new & have fun walking around hunting for stuff. My wife & I found these during quarantine & loved them!
alayna's right about the "n" in badminton. but in american english at least, the "n" is silent in the pronunciation. this is because the n and t sounds are made in the same area of the mouth and sort of melt together while we're speaking. a lot of words are like that thought, where certain letter/word combinations melt together because we're speaking too fast to care about pronouncing each individual letter. for example, when we say "want to" in a sentence, we usually put the two together because of the two "t" sounds right after another, so it ends up sounding like "wanna". however, when we say "wanted to," we pronounce the "t" in "to" because there's other letter sounds in between the "t" sounds. but even then, when saying "wanted" we don't really pronounce the "t" very much. it's more like "wannid". the english language and its evolution over time is pretty interesting
Ashley, I'm so glad to hear you are getting some relief. That's awesome. You guys are the best humans ever and deserve to, all of you, be happy and healthy 💜
I love what you all are doing so much and I get so much comfort out of listening to this podcast. I will literally listen to this podcast over and over from start to finish while I work, cleaning at the animal shelter. That all being said, you’re not going to address it? Explain what happened and why. I found the situation very hurtful and while I enjoy and understand the person here on this podcast, I don’t understand or connect to the person in that situation at all. I really enjoy this content but I’m really confused and am at a loss about the situation that occurred.
I was watching this whilst I harvested fresh basil in my greenhouse and then sorted this year's onion harvest in my kitchen so am I already a cottage lesbian? Me and my wife have an allotment (UK) so we have the growing our own food down already. As for the topic on America banning information it is damm scary from over here in the UK, I remember my 90 year old (christian) grandad asking me why I wanted to get married and I said I'd like to be married to my wife now that it's legal and if enough guys got married then maybe they can never make it illegal again and he was shocked that they could do just that when all he saw was a girl in love with a another girl and wanting to be happy
"The Bunker" they were supposed to live shielded from the world in their own bubble of peace, it looked like a succesfull experiment, until they heard the knock on the airlock, and there she was, Alayna's sister..... Who texted her the location, and why? The tension is rising....
Just wanted to say thanks to Ashley for sharing her story and I’m so glad to hear you have hope and pain relief. I’m currently going through it I’m trying to get answers about my pain and trying not to loose hope. As nothing seems to be working. Currently lying on the sofa in pain and have been listening to the podcast to keep me company and feeling comforted by my chosen family ❤

I cannot give enough thumbs up for this podcast, everything about it was awesome. Very well discussed topics of what education and information can really accomplish. You folks rock!!!
I just had an idea about your filming schedule... since you record 2 episodes at a time, it might be a good opportunity to have the first of the two episodes focus on updates / sharing / talking amongst yourselves, with maybe a question in there if you have time at the end, then the next released episode can focus mostly on listener questions without the update section. Just a thought :)

Obviously I have huge issue with lots of his thoughts and values, but I'm proud of how progressive he is. If only he wasn't so brainwashed by the church.
I feel like I say this every week but this is one of the best episodes yet. Thank you all for discussing the importance of talking about different views and having those difficult conversations with people . I’ll keep that in mind when I am around my conservative family 😅 👏🏼
Had to look up the badminton thing.. and Alayna is correct with the pronunciation of the word... and I too am Canadian.. but..... I totally pronounce it like Americans Mak and Ashley by using the first n as a silent consonant! So I too would pronounce it as badmitton! 🤣🏸🤔

19:32 I'm half and half with you. I do believe people can learn to budget much better but I also think everyone should be able to treat themselves to something nice every now and again. L Also 3:13 Is super wholesome :D
Yup. Too many people take the mindset of “it’s my money, I can afford it” as they are actively going into credit card debt because they CANNOT afford it. You gotta treat yourself for the sacrifices you make, but the sacrifice is non-negotiable if you need to get out of debt.
17:05 Someone (probably Jen) silently sneaks around at Ashley‘s place. 19:30 Dave Ramsey for sure is one of them. 25:21 I am absolutely with Ashley on that.
16:50 totally agree like I'm on my period right now and the cramps are killin me like why?!? Why does it hurt so much?!? It sucks and to be honest I wouldn't wish this on anybody
Oh my god did they finally do it? Did they get through the entire podcast without introducing themselves?
😂
Literally!!!
😂
But they remembered to say what they had for dinner. This was epic.
BAHAHA THEY DID
I love how Ashley's fake sponsor ad about platelets transitioned into an actual sponsor ad 😂
Ashley: I dont really have an update today.
Also Ashley: shares probably the most significant update in the history of the show
😆

English here and Alayna is 100% correct
It's featherball, anyway.
In most of the United States you do say it like Mak and Ashley did so I'm assuming both are correct, it just differs depending on where you're from.
As another Atlantic Canadian, Alayna is 100% correct in her pronunciation and I was so confused by Mak and Ashley😂
I think Alayan’s words on the power of education was really powerful at 26:51

I had the exact badminton pronunciation argument with my first gf who was Canadian over a decade ago.
Can't believe I'm running out of episodes to watch
Loving the Alayna political rant ... All you wonderful women are on point! Loving it ❤❤🌈🌈
Also loved the bunker joking bit! I was dying laughing 😂 that is one thing I love about this podcast is that it is both insightful and funny
There was no intro 😅😅 they finally did it ❤❤
I’m a professional ballet dancer so my job is literally standing in front of a mirror 40 hrs a week. I know exactly what you mean
Oh this one was so good I was sad when it was over.
Loved the editing!! The transition from the platelet sponsorship to the real sponsor and Mak’s slow-mo replay cracked me up :)
Y’all deserve the most funny podcast! Hell yeah!!
Ugh, thank you guys for voicing and framing these issues with an articulate and simple truth ❤❤❤
Preach Alayna. I'm not even joking that my mom is afraid of reading and watching documentaries with me, because she's afraid she'll see something that makes her want to change and she finds that exhausting.
