The way Ashley starts talking about Jenn with that look on her face then she starts tearing up omg 😭😭😭 i need to find me someone like that UNIVERSE PLEASE !!!!!!
I don't know if you were doing a bit with the cheese, but in case you wanted an infodump: Cheeses use different cultures of (usually) bacteria to ferment the milk (however Camembert for instance relies on a fungus - hence you get that pretty white layer at the top). The fermenters eat the sugars in the milk (usually lactose) and slowly turn the milk into cheese. So, if in Maks instance some bacterial culture, which is usually involved in cheese fermenting processes, found its way to the mozzarella stick, it may turn it into a different cheese... Although I don't think you'd technically be able to call it parmesan. It would just be fundamentally different due to the loss of all the sugars and other nutrients usually needed to make parmesan from the get go, so... New cheese? However there's certain mould and bacteria which are not good for you, not turning your baby cow juice into cheese, but rather upsetting your stomach or even making you ill - and I don't think that constitutes as cheese. This is all coming from a vegan scientist who was determined to finally make good vegan feta and got a whole book about Feta and its cheeses from the university library 🙃 it did not go well but here's the infodump, take it with a pinch of salt
25:37 Danny really nailed it with putting the ad wright when Mak was about to FINALLY read the question 😂. Love the episode btw. Also, I almost love it more when you skip the question because there is more back and forth and you guys can go more in depth. While with the questions, while they ofcourse are insightful/funny/interesting, you never know the full story. So, I hope Alynna can sleep well through the night 😌❤❤❤
The point of a spark is to ignite a flame. The sexual intensity of the first couple of years definitely tapers off, but long-lasting passion and companionship is cultivated by the care you feed into each other along the way. Our eighth anniversary is next week and I still find myself blown away by how wonderful he is. We've been through a lot together - death in the family, infertility, a pandemic, the intense long-term stress of me going back to school - and it's been the safety and security of our relationship with each other that's kept us going through hard times. Just thinking of his face makes me smile. We are more in love now, after all these years and difficult things, than we were in the beginning, and that love gets deeper and wider all the time. ❤
I loved this comment. I am in my first long term relationship and there are moments when I overthink and wonder if it doesn’t feel right anymore because I get in my own head about the feeling changes, spark to flame. This is such a good comment and good reminder that it’s more of an evolution I see him and am around him and I feel safe and at home
This is the only podcast I listen to, and it honestly just makes me so happy. This little family we have here, it’s so refreshing. I love listening to Alaynas school updates, Ashley’s dad jokes, and Maks lovely comments, even on the “meh” days. Thanks for doing this and making me laugh and smile (without fail) ❤️❤️
Mak looking super adorable this episode. I love that you share the downs aswell, it really helps. Same boat here mak and laughing really hurts but loved laughing at this anyway xxx
ahh i love this pod,, i almost started crying when ashley got emotional over jen❤ we’re all so so happy for you, ashley. i hope your cramps got better over the next few days, mak!! love you all❤
Cheese, yoghurts and such are not made using mould (as in fungi). They are made using bacteria. There are exceptions of course like cheeses like brie and roguefort, but those are also initially made using bacteria and later finished of with fungi. but when it is moldy (all over), chuck it! It is bad.
Cheese isn't broadly moldy, though there are a lot of different cheeses that include mold. Cheese is made with bacteria, not mold, so it's arguably spoiled, but it's a big difference. Also, expiration dates are specifically when the quality of the product diminishes enough that the company won't stand by it, but while that quality goes down some, it's not immediately bad food. Some stuff I'm not testing, other stuff I'll eat with no concerns if the package is sealed for months after the date.
Yes, unintentional mold on cheese is most likely a unhealthy one that produces toxins, not one that cures the cheese (safe inoculated fermentation). Also, if food is moldy before the expiration date, unopened and stored at the right temp. at home, you should file a complaint because this seems like there was a big failure to control the temp. somewhere in the cold chain or a contamination in production. This would be a cause for call-backs plus FDA regulation were probably not upheld. Last but not least, please think of the animals and their subjective experience in factory farming.
I’ve called the dairy that made the yogurt that was in the back of my fridge and beyond it’s best by date, and they told me as long as it is still sealed, it was fine to eat.
“It’s a truck” will now be my go-to when I am overthinking. I was so invested with Alayna’s worrying about it being a sign and hearing that was so disarming. I love it!

on the topic of expiration dates, especially if you're on the ashley's family side of not eating food as soon as the expiration date passes, i WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend watching the youtube video "your food is lying to you" by climate town. it's not only educational but the guy is very comedic in his delivery. in summary, expiration dates are pretty much bullshit and just estimations made companies that don't actually correlate to when the food will be bad for you to eat and you should rely more on a 'smell test' to check if your food has gone bad. people throwing out "expired" food without even checking to see if it has gone bad is the source of SO MUCH food waste. please watch the video to educate yourself & your loved ones so you can contribute less food waste!
from reading psychology studies suggest that if you start with fire it will dwindle and it's harder to keep it going but it can last if you can make it past the drop but usually successful love is a bit meh but you build a love that you grow together over time showing higher over all love in the end. please see what's best for you and work towards your goals if it's building a relationship/ life go for it. if it's following your goals that's important u do u life is hard and we all have heart break and love as long as you r happy and there happy

People have already answered this but Mak's cheese would not turn from Mozarella to Parm. While fermentation is one factor in cheesemaking, what determines the type is more so the culture and the method you use to make it including how it is pressed. String cheese and cheese sticks are also heavily processed in comparison to fresh/homemeade/unpasturized cheeses so its even less likely.
Comment coming from a place of compassion, please don't harass me in the replies: Followed this from the start and loved having a space to feel uplifted and represented with great humour, but seeing how things have gone down I just cannot keep watching without feeling uncomfortable. Not only because of Ashley's response to her actions, but Alayna and Mak's compliance in following along with it. Conversations may have happened in private, but from the outside it really looks like "Nothing happened, moving on as usual". The fact I even feel unsafe posting this because of Ash's growing habit of dunking on people who comment and calling them names I think says enough. Hope you guys can grow from this, thank you for all the laughs 💛
Hey! I feel similarly. Nice to to know I'm not alone. I couldn't find any response from Ashley. Could you tell me what she said in comments or anything like that? I would like to get a full picture but it seems she makes that impossible. Thx for commenting!
Mak and alayna weren't involved and don't owe anyone any explanation or apology for something they didn't do? Ashley took accountability and apologized openly and to the girl. It's time to move on...
OP, thank you - I feel similarly. I've been a fan of Ashley (and Chosen Family for some time) so it was a pretty big bummer to hear what's happened at the shows and actually listen to the audio. I find it comes across a bit insincere that Ashley didn't post her apology anywhere besides Tiktok.

Expiration dates are for the stores. Foods don't suddenly turn poison once they pass the "best by" date. They might be stale or not as fresh, but you should use your judgment in figuring out if it's safe to eat. The big food bank I volunteered for didn't worry about most expiration dates on non-perishable goods & usually had an extended date for things that are "expired" (e.g., 6 months extra for cereal & salad dressing). Throwing away at the food bank was more to assure the clients the food was okay.
Ohhh dose this come out at night in the US? It’s currently 9.01 am in the UK, love listening to this first thing on my way to college or an early morning walk 🥰
I don't know how to express how much joy the pod brings to me... It really does feel like having family/friends to hang with each week.. the voice chat we have in patreon each week about the episode are so much fun I can't wait for Saturday!! I know you guys are going through so much right now just want to let ya'll know how much this pod means to us Thank you for being our Chosen Family!!!!
It’s hard to ignore the situation that happened. Influencers don’t always handle things as everyone thinks they should, and obviously they can’t please everyone. But i think the only way, Ashley, your apology will actually be taken seriously is if you truly change your actions and think before you say something as cruel as that to a fan. It was not a joke, it came from what sounded like real anger. I get not wanting to bring up shit in ur past but if this has happened many other times it should be something you address if you want people to take you seriously. I really want to keep listening to the podcast because it was my favorite part of Wednesdays but i find it really difficult after hearing the audio and how extremely hateful and violent the words that you said to a fan were. I came to this podcast supporting Alayna and then found Mak and i wasn’t aware of Ashley until them. Although i didn’t start as a fan of Ashley i started to understand a bit more of how their dynamic works together, but at this point it’s incredibly hard to stand by and support someone who told someone to unalive themselves. And their mom should have “unalived them at birth”. This is not trying to “throw out a person”, it’s just really hard to listen to someone after hearing them say that.
36:27 I instantly thought of these lines when Ashley was talking about choosing each other. I'm gonna love you when our hair is turnin' gray We'll have a cardboard box of photos of the life we've made And you'll say, "Oh my, we really were timeless" Taylor Swift

36:26 Timeless ✨
I want chosen family merch that says “It’s a truck!” Right tf now
The irony of Mak making a comment about cramps and having sharks on her phone cover 😆
Awwww Mak nooo - I fully understand the pain, going through it right now, so yeah, oof.
Huge hug!
Hhhhhh period cramps is very relatable... me too rn. Mine aren't bad, but they get pretty dang uncomfortable and a little bit painful sometimes
For expiration dates- if it looks okay and smells ok, then it's okay to eat.
36:27 I instantly thought of these lines when Ashley was talking about choosing each other.
I'm gonna love you when our hair is turnin' gray
We'll have a cardboard box of photos of the life we've made
And you'll say, "Oh my, we really were timeless"
Taylor Swift
the way i thought that mak looked extra hot in this video to then be confronted with her literally feeling like trash…
