I totally relate to not remembering my Splatoon 1 experience, I only remember a slight feeling of chilling during summer without a worry playing Splatoon. Happens a lot with games i played really young. And I would only end up getting back into the game years later in 2018 when we got a switch. Great video 👍
Nah cuz I would just watch my brother play Splat 1 when I was like 5 💀 I barely remember anything but then years later I got into Splatoon 2 and that’s more personal for me anyways so I don’t really care too much lol
I cannot stress enough how much Splatoon has made me grow as a person. I got into it because of Smash Ultimate and SMG4 and I didn't get Splatoon 2 until late 2019, so I can relate to missing out on the game's lifespan. But, I am not exaggerating when I say Splatoon and its community has gotten me through some tough times and I cannot explain how hyped I got when Splatoon 3 was first announced. And then I got Splatoon 3 on release day and played the Story Mode to 100% in one sitting after midnight. (lol, not missing the party this time!) Splatoon as a whole has really become a big part of my life and is one of, if not, my favorite game series ever. Thank you, Splatoon. For everything.

Octo expansion is what got me into it and I ended up joining splatoon 2 after, I didn't get the dlc yet but I still had so much fun the first time I played, Then I got Octo, And I fell In love with the story more than i already have that to this day I'm very obsessed about. Which is why i WANT SIDE ORDER TO COME OUT ALREADY 😢 But the entire splatoon series got me to be invested in the game and it became my most favorite franchise alongside Mario, Kirby, Undertale, Deltarune, now Zelda and so many more Like when I die I either want to be reincarnated In Kirby Or In splatoon as an Octo :D Inkling is fine too. And Honestly? It's really all thanks to Eight Who was the one who got me here in the first place.
My friend introduced it to me by trying to make me role play a Splatoon match at break time at school, that was one of the best day of my life. I later asked for a Wii u for Christmas and the rest is history :)
I was in the same boat as you. I didn't start playing Splatoon 2 until it was pretty at the end of it's life. I had multiple opportunities, but my platformer brain was in full force. Hell, I didn't beat Octo Expansion until a few weeks ago. But that didn't stop me from being hyped for 3 tho.

It took me 8 years of playing minecraft to go and beat the dragon so you're doing great. And I didn't even get the achievement since I had a single player sleep mod. For splatoon I still haven't beat agent 3 after 5 years of playing the game. I have random friends I added years ago and that's my marker for when I started. 5 years now. Unfortunately time goes by super fast so I didn't enjoy my time with splatoon 2 as much as I should have.
I was never able to play Splatoon 1 as a kid, because I never had a Wii U (Only a Wii) and I remember going to before at night and dreaming that I would get to play as that squidkid I so desperately wanted to be, singing along to the Calimari Inkantation as I splat Octavio back into his mech and save the Zapfish. I would spend hours on my tablet, watching gameplay videos of people playing online matches, or watching a compilation of different Story Mode bosses and mini bosses, and when Splatoon 2 was released, I was ecstatic. I tried to convince my dad to get it for me, and he only said “yes” because he saw Fire Emblem on the shelves, but I still remember sitting in a swivel chair with my motion controls on max sensitivity playing the story mode. I loved every moment of that game, and I really miss playing it, especially now that I lost the cartridge. I have Splatoon 3 now, and I’ve not only 1,000%’d the story mode, but I coincidentally ended up buying my Nintendo Switch Online during Spookfest, so the Splatoween victory theme was the first one I heard, and it still feels unforgettable. Now, the game’s life cycle is wrapping up, and while I don’t have anyone I can directly play with (yet), I’m very excited to keep playing, and who knows, maybe we’ll get something even better for the series later down the line.
Honestly I thought that you had at least 50k subscribers but to see that a youtube account with this level of video production "only" has 1.5k subscribers was surprising. Not to say that 1.5k is a small amound but you honestly deserve a lot more attention because this video i just so well made I really hope that you get the recognition you deserve :D
When Splatoon came out, I was 6, and it looked so fun. At this age, I frequently visited GameShop and would use the Wii U they had there, and they usually had Splatoon there. Sadly, I never was able to personally use my own Wii U, as I didn't have a TV with HDMI at the time, so my mom returned it. Back then, I only had a box TV, which I used my Wii on. It sucked not being able to use the Wii U, but I would always watch Splatoon videos, either it being people gaming, or animation videos. I remember watching those animation videos with my best friend on my 3DS. Years later, me and my neighbor moved houses, not keeping contact, and I had got a Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, I never got Splatoon 2 for the Switch because I only focused on 1 game, which was Super Mario Odyssey, and also forgot about it just like you Ted. Another reason is that I was primarily a PlayStation gamer at the time. The only time I did play Splatoon 2 was the demo on the Nintendo eShop.I had got rid of my Switch, which I regret now in the present, as it was new enough to be jailbroken at the time, which I didn't know. My aunt had got a Switch for my Sister in 2021 for Christmas I believe, and she liked playing Animal Crossing on it. In 2022, Christmas, my sister wanted Splatoon (didn't mention she wanted 3), which had brought back memories of my love for the series. My mom accidently bought 2 instead of 3 but the next day, she returned it and got Splatoon 3. For some reason, she didn't really play it much. I asked her if it could play it , and the day I did, the Fresh season started. Although I didn't play Splatoon for real until 2023, I've always observed from the sidelines. I can totally relate to you with the splatoon 2 transition into 3. Like you, I missed the entire game and all the splatfests, and when splatoon 3 was announced I was so excited! Anyways, great video, it was nice hearing about your entire splatoon journey in a format like this.
My little brother first found out splatoon 2 but he didn't like it,so i played it and i loved it. Thats my short story of how i play splatoon and got into the series
I started back in Christmas of 2017. Me and my sister were opening presents, there were 2 presents that were Wii U games, we opened them at the same time, I got Minecraft for Wii U, as my sister got splatoon, she was so exited to play it. I looked at the case and thought to myself “that game looks stupid, I’m never gonna play that.” So after my sister played it a bit, she begged me to try it, so a did the tutorial… and INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. I would play splatoon 1 NON-STOP! And pretty quickly, my sister stopped playing it and now hates splatoon. And then for Christmas of 2019, i gat a Nintendo switch, with splatoon 2! I again, played non-stop. I was super upset though as with BOTH splatoon games, I had missed every splatfest. Thank goodness nintendo had some redos of splatfests in 2021 or something. And by the time I had saw nintendos trailer for Splatoon 3, I FREAKED OUT. And was so sad when it said it was coming out 2022, when it was the beginning of 2021 when the trailer came out. So I waited 1 year and a half. And it was so worth the wait. Around that time, I got inspired to make splatoon animations. Splatoon has played a big role in my life, and im so glad it did.
Man, it's been nine months since I last got to play Splatoon 3, and I know I've been missing out on all these exclusive events. But going from July 2021 to October 2022, I've been becoming more of a competitive player to the point where I became mentally ill to the real world. As of right now, at some point this year I'll be finally getting a return to see how the game has grown and hopefully not getting too addicted again.
I really like your editing style. Good stuff. I started playing Splatoon 2 around 2018 I believe and loved Octo Expansion. I have almost 200 hours in the game, and I recently got Splatoon 3 and have amassed 100 hours so far. I’m really looking forward to the Side Order DLC. In the meantime, I’ve been grinding the catalog rewards and playing a ton of Rainmaker and Salmon Run. Some of my favorite modes.
during my cringe phase, my dad found a random game and showed it to me (splatoon 2). Little did I know that in the future that this game would make me scream over another tentateak splattershot winning an anarchy battle. (I have literally dedicated my life to big man) Later on, I showed my friend this game and she also joined. (So did my brother and his friend) Right now we are currently wanted for our bigmanswep tentaek splattershot meme team. SPLATOON IS STILL THE BEST GAME AND I AM LITERALLY OBSESSED WITH IT. p.s. I ascend and cry every single time I hear splatoon 2 music and DJ Octavio boss battle in Splatoon 2 made me want to quit (my brother had to help me)
I watched this community from a distance for basically all of high school, and I'm always amazed at how the vast majority of it doesn't seem to fall into traps about nostalgia, or gatekeeping, or constant complaints about balance, it just seems to be one massive vibe session for the most part. I think this video captures that really well, so thanks for making it. And screw it, I think I'll finally give Splat3 a real try after just letting it sit on my Switch since launch
I was 7 when splatoon 1 came out, my dad said it was a thing when he was a kid and that made me try to get interested (almost 9 years after the release of splatoon 1 I'm still in love with the franchise)
my sibling bought splatoon 2, and I was curious in playing it. The issue was I didn't have online and didn't feel like getting it. A few years pass and my sibling dropped splatoon (they had for a while, it's just that they lost it ). Eventually when they found it, they asked if I wanted it, and by this point I did have online due to other games. So, I started playing. I picked up soda slosher, and when splatoon 3 came out, I mained and still main v slosh. so yay funny squid game :)
I got into splatoon in roughly 2016-18, about after the Final Fest and a lot of splatoon content was booming on youtube. Originally it started with agent comic dubs, I didn't even realize there were playable games until I opened my switch and saw it on the e-shop. Also, as an only child with a limited amount of friends, I was fairly alone in my enjoyment of the game and conent, but found social media to be a good way to connect to other players. I've never played the original splatoon; I consider myself a casual fan, but I'm well versed in the lore and I've found myself in an inkredible community on a few platforms, and indulging in a lot of splatoon related content- like this video! I haven't watched it entirely as of writing, but I'm enjoying it so far.
I clicked onto this video because its nice to see people talk about their experience of splatoon and saying so much fun they've had! It actually made me remember myself in the process but i waited until the end to play and write this, thanks for showing how even if you haven't been addicted to a game from the start you can always get back into it and have an amazing time.
The main things I remember about my Splatoon experience was getting both a Wii U AND Splatoon for Christmas in 2015, and my sibling and I being on opposite teams for Callie VS Marie (I was Team Callie and was SO disappointed when I lost). Splatoon 2, though, gave me the Squid Sisters character development I really needed, as well as giving me more characters to obsess over with Off the Hook. I ended up getting the second game a short while before Chaos VS Order, and I was ALSO on the losing side of THAT final Splatfest! I have yet to obtain Splatoon 3, but my obsession over it has grown back into the spotlight in the past few days because of mashups. Back in Splat1, I used one of the Aerosprays, while in Splat2, I experimented more by using Tri-Slosher, K-Shot, and a few more that I don't remember.
Just like you, I really don’t remember much of my Splatoon 1 days much at all, heck I never even played a single splatfest, unfortunately, don’t remember how I got the game but it did get into my hands. Then Splatoon 2 rolled around, and the same thing happened, I don’t remember much honestly. I really didn’t get into it until around Chaos vs Order. That’s where it really all started, I played a ton of splat2, I made friends, and found some communities that I now call home. Now with Splatoon 3, I play the game super often, I feel like I play better than ever but still have much room for improvement. I absolutely love this game with all my heart and cannot wait to see what it has in store for us in the future. Also Octo Expansion slapped and was just amazing, can’t wait for what Side Order has for us. Amazing video as well :)
I got into Splatoon 2 (my first splatoon game) by my dad buying it for me along with another game I had zero interest in, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (still haven’t touched it since day 1 of having it)
me and my brother saw the splatoon 1 commercial on tv and were like “this hide in ink thing looks pretty cool imma kick your ass in this game” he soon got bored of it but i fell in love with the game and the online mode, splatfests, everything. splatoon 2 was announced (or released? i dint remember) around a brand new turn on life for me where i met new friends i still talk with to this day, they liked splatoon. i still remember making some money from my summer job and spending all of it on a switch and a copy of splatoon 2 still early into its life. at the time my friends introduced me to discord where we voice chatted and played splatoon together late into the night. the flight versus invincibility splatfest will be a key moment for me, i still remember and look back on being awake until 4am making it all the way to king/queen rank on the first day, and being sad that the splatfest was over. when splatoon 3 rolled around, i couldnt find the time to play with my friends often, we still do, but we’re always busy. i often play alone. i feel you when you said this series is much more enjoyable with friends, i found myself being burnt out from many things, sadly this time around splatoon is being affected. im going to put more effort into improving my mental health, mindset, everything really, and hopefully i can return with the burning passion i had for splatoon, and other things again
i feel like i wasn't conscious for all of splat 1 and the majority of splat 2. all i know is that i love this franchise, and that im really bad at splat 3 ranked
MAN what timing this video had. I bought splatoon 3 a few months ago, after not playing splatoon 1 since I was basically a kid. I started playing splatoon for the same reasons, also it didn't have chat/vc which made me feel at ease even if I messed up. It was one of the few games available for the wii U, and my brother really wanted the shiny new console even tho I was opposed. I'm glad we got it. I do remember wanting to get splatoon 2 but I was more interested in playing BoTW and I didn't even have a switch. I am kinda sad that I missed the world premiere for splatoon 3 since I was pretty much hyper about it coming out but at least now I'm finally playing it.

I started playing it again this week. I preordered the game as a kid and eagerly awaited its release and it did not disappoint me. I quickly hit max level (I think 50 at the start) and continued to play for a year or 2. I returned briefly for splatoon 2 but now I have started playing splatoon 3 and let me just say, it perfectly captures that feeling of unlimited replayability and fun that so many games from being a child had.
I got Splatoon 1 as a Christmas gift, but didn't play it much at first-mostly because I was hyperfixated on Pikmin at the time-until one of my friends mentioned that they had it, and I agreed to play it with them. From that point forward, I was addicted and played it every day for hours. To this day, I don't think I've ever been as hyped for a game as my going-into-high-school-self was for Splatoon 2. I watched the Switch presentation SOLELY for Splat2, watched every piece of demo footage from the event along with a LOT of Testfire footage before I had a Switch, and speculated hard about what could be in it. The wait for it was unbearable since on the day of release the package didn't arrive until almost 5pm, and the mailwoman came up mere moments before we were about to leave to go to my grandparents house for dinner. I ended up spending the time there playing through most of the story mode, and finished it once we went home. For the next two years, I was on the game at almost every moment of my free time, whether playing with friends or in solo, and eagerly awaited every update. I even spent some time in a competitive team for about a year. By the end, I had well over 3000 hours into it. (And yes, i was crazy enough to 1000% Octo Canyon lol) Shortly after the final fest, I fell into Smash for a while and basically took a break from Splatoon for a bit and explored some other games. Surprisingly, when Splatoon 3 was announced, my hype wasn't as extreme for a while even with the amazing reveal trailer-I was excited of course, and knew I was going to buy it, but I wasn't a vulture for content like I was for 2 (then again, that's probably because there wasn't much info for a while lol). However, when the Direct came out and with the Splatfest Premiere, I was once again hooked and prepurchased it shortly after the end of the fest. At launch, I hopped on with some friends and played for hours, and with a few play sessions, I finished the story as well, with 3's final boss becoming my favorite of the series. Fast forward to today, despite 3's issues with a slow update cycle and stage design, I still think that gameplay-wise, it has the most fun movement of the series with squid rolls especially. With some changes, it could become the uncontested best Splatoon game, so hopefully with Side Order finally being wrapped up and the full team can focus on the multiplayer, we can see the game rise to its full potential. But no matter where it goes, this is a franchise that I will cherish even when I'm on my deathbed. Long live Splatoon 🙌
I remember going to Target to get Splatoon 1 with my mom in the Summer of 2015. I was only in like 4th grade or so but I remember all the advertising for the game. I ended up playing that game throuhgout all of it's lifetime and had so much fun playing it. I only really had like 1 other friend to play it with, but that's 1 more than I have to play Splatoon 3 now, but I had so much fun with that game
( sorry if this gets really long ) My first experience with splatoon was with my brother, in the Splatoon 1 dojo. I’m not sure why, but I absolutely loved it, and i was always begging him to let me play Splatoon 1, because i didnt have a Wii U . After the Switch dropped, my parents got me Splatoon 2, and i ended up glued to that game for two years. However, i ended up forgetting about it for another couple years until Splatoon 3 was announced. After that, i threw myself into competitive youtube content ( i watched only prochara at first, and then i branched out ), and started to learn more about which weapons were good, which weapons were bad, and how to manage tilt. After Splatoon 3 got announced, ive been playing it nearly everyday. Im fortunate to have good friend that also likes splatoon 3, although they play it like once a month. I usually call them for the challenges, splatfests, and big runs, and im happy to have them as a friend.

I played the first game on my friends wii u, used to go to his house after school every day to play smash and then we started playing that. We'd take turns since splatoons local multi-player on a wii u game pad was not ideal
I've been interested in Splatoon since the first one, but couldn't actually play it due to not having a Wii U, so I consumed as much content as I could. Around the end of Splatoon 2's era, I sorta dropped the series until 3 was announced, and then absolutely relapsed, despite, again, not being able to play. I recently got a Switch for my birthday, my brother got me Splatoon 2 (he would have gotten 3 but couldn't find it, unfortunately) and one of my best friends got me online. I don't even mind the fact that online is kinda dead now, it's safe to say I'm gonna be here a while!
I started "playing" when I got Splatoon 2 the September after it released. I say "played" because I didn't have a Nintendo account and when I got one, I didn't get Online until late April last year. I got Splatoon 3 the day it released and I've been mostly playing it since it released. Another thing: I'm not from America but Ireland so I got both of them at my local Smyths. In Dublin. 30 minutes away.
I remember seeing Stampy play the testfire of Splatoon 1. I got the game twice as my first copy got scratched and I used that until it wouldn't read the disk anymore (I would try and try again until it booted up, then one time it just wouldn't work) and the 2nd copy I still own
My parents got me the game for my birthday 2015. I played it so much and I loved it. I probably did the story mode 3 times now and turf war was my favourite mode. I got splatoon 2 in 2019, played turf war, story mode, and octo expansion. Then I got splatoon 3 on release date, and played the hell out of it.

Got into it with the first global testfire and got the game day 1, got the other 2 on day 1 also and participated in every Splatfest and got champion or higher in every one, with king/ruler rank in the vast majority. Never got hardcore into ranked. Mostly played Aerospray in 1, but played random weapons in 2/3. Also did 1000% 2 hero mode and inner agent 3 relatively close to the releases of those modes.
I feel your pain with the DJ Octavio boos battle. I had a full on breakdown while fight the egg sucking, no good, cocaine bear that was Grizz. Hell I was BESIDE myself it haunts me to this day.
I love this franchise so much! Still haven't gotten around to playing it but as soon as i get my hands on a swich it'll be the first game I'm going to play! Just haven't decided if i want to play octoexpansion first or the main one
Ive been playing splatoon since the year the first game released when I was in primary school (equivalent of elementary school) and was introduced to it by my dad who showed me the trailers thinking it looked cool, I got the game at the end of the school year for doing well and played the heck out of it, my friend got it too and we did nothing but talk about it for ages. I was very bad at the game getting like 2 splats per turf war. I got a switch and splatoon 2 for christmas the year it released and played about 500 hours of it, eventually managing to get to S+0 maining the dark tetra dualies before splatoon 3, I only played about 100 games of salmon run and got to profreshinal but then forgot about it. I also completed every level of octo expansion as well as inner agent 3 which caused me to realise how using obstacles for cover worked and forced me to improve my technical skill. Then after pre orering splatoon 3 and playing through the whole story mode after launch, my attention shifted to mostly salmon run where I've now got over 1100 shifts and a lovely Hazard Level Max badge. Ive also began to explore using the explosher and E-Liter 4K. Splatoon is very near and dear to my heart and has been a big part of my life for years.
I got splatoon along with my wii u and i also don’t remeber the experience other than storymode, but i wasn’t really playing it i didn’t even experienced a splatfest. But i was starting to get into the in splatoon 2 seeing how great the game is, and then my brother also got into the game. But later we kinda got bored of it, until octo expansion came out and it was amazing pretty much make me love the game even more, and also made octolings my fav cephalopod, And that was my how got into splatoon.
The way I first got into splatoon was my friends were talking about splatoon 3 when it first came out. Up until that point I had never given the series a chance because I thought it was stupid. My friends were talking about and sharing so much splatoon 3 stuff that I got to the point of deciding to finally give splatoon a chance. October 10th, 2022 was when I bought it and the first time I ever picked up a splatoon game. It was hard to get used to, but I’ve been obsessed ever since. I’m still a little self conscious that Splatoon 3 was my first game, but I’m so happy I finally decided to give the game a chance. I loved it so much I ended up buying Splatoon 2 and playing that! This community is the first one I actually feel at home with and I couldn’t be more grateful
I started in 2, I came across a video of all the bosses (pre octo expansion) and just really loved how it looked, and how good the music was to me. Eventually convinced my family to get me a switch and now I’m just a casual Splatoon gamer
3 is my first game in the series, bought it after watching an Arlo review. a year later I have over 1000 hours in the game. Definitely helped me at some of the lower points of my recent life, esp dealing with work & family stresses by playing Anarchy. Nautilus made me fall in love with the game
i got into the game because my friend had another friend that liked splatoon a lot, and she mistook me for her other friend and asked me “you like splatoon right?” and i didnt really know what it was about but i knew what it was so i told her i did, and she showed me a really cool splatoon edit, from then on i started hyperfixating on splatoon, thanks to my friend 👍
I first played this game during the first testfire aka the ancient times of this game. But i didn't get game until a month later on my 9th birthday and i played the hell out of it but somehow only reaching A rank at the end of its life time. I got Splatoon 2 about 1 year and half later from it's release because i didn't have a switch. But i played the hell out of splatoon 2 and is my most played still. I only got splatoon 2 because my little sister was obsessed with it. So i only got experience like 3 or 4 of the splatfests during its lifetime including the last one. And i consistently played until quaratine as for whatever i stopped playing this for whatever reason. Until summer 2022 when i got back into it, and with spatoon 3 on the horizon here we are now. It just sucks that all my IRL friends don't play or even have a switch for that matter, the only i mainly play with is my little sister.
The way I got into Splatoon was that it started by a gamestop employee (great start, I know) recommended me the game and I just kinda ignored it and declined. But after a while I looked it up on youtube to see what it was about and got quite hooked. There was a certain youtuber at the time playing it that I just kept watching and so I got interested and wanted to play it. Still remember my first match on urchin underpass, it did not go well XD. I got Splatoon 2 around launch but didn't really play it that much. I only really remembered the Splatoon series in general when hype started building up for Splatoon 3, so I gave Splatoon 3 a shot and am now an avid on Splatoon again.
I find this relatable. for me, I didn't just start out as someone who just kinda brushed off the series, but I actually started as one of those people who got put off by it cause of the whole "you're a kid you're a squid" thing. Now I'm a competitive player, and it all started because a friend suggested I get Splatoon 2 so we have a game we can play together. Splatoon really is a game best enjoyed with friends. Maybe one day I'll make a video of my history with the series

So, I'm not a veteran Splatoon player... I'm not even a day one Splatoon 3 player, I got it on christmas 2022 so not long ago after it's launch but still. And yet I remember really wanting the game when I was a kid. We didn't have a WiiU at home when I was a kid (we still don't even though I'm 18 now) so I didn't have the chance to play it. And when I finally got a switch I... just forgot about Splatoon. But I really regret that. I love this game. I'm quickly bored of it because I litteraly don't know anyone else playing it except for UA-camrs like you, but I love it. And I forgot what was the purpose of this comment other than saying that but anyway. Great video, I really like your content.
In 2018 my mom got me a Nintendo switch and it also has Splatoon 2 and I didn’t really care but one day I got bored from my other games and decided, ”why not?” I wasn’t the best and only grinded to lvl 76 and just couldn’t get a higher level and I quit after I heard that splatoon 2 is done with updates until splatoon 3 (I was team order in the final fest) I always wanted splatoon 3 when I first heard of it but I didn’t get it until June 3rd of 2023 so almost it’s first year out but with all of my experience from splatoon 2 I decided to actually get good and I’m lvl 32 at the moment and I can say I can definitely beat my lvl 76 splatoon 2 character. Personally the way I got into Splatoon is pretty funny. Basically I recently got into Color Splash, and Paper Mario in general. Keeping things short, I got recommended this game by a friend because it apparently had some cool lore and stuff, was apparently like Color Splash (I don't get how XD) which I'd enjoyed, and it was actually a new Nintendo ip. So I gave it a try. Yeah I loved it. Splatoon kinda became me life for a year or so. The animations were awesome (I miss them), even if they were kinda bad. The community was great (still is but ya know its not exactly the same anymore...) the game itself was fresh, thw story mode was awesome and I love how it takes place after human extinction, showing even a silly little kids game can be dark. Yeah it was awesome and I still remember maining the N-Zaps and Rollers. I once got 29 kills with a roller I believe. (Perhaps I'm recalling it wrong but this is what I've gone with the past couple years so I think that's true) pretty impressive for a casual. When splatoon 2 came around....I lost the cartridge and then forgot about the game... then splatoon 3 gets announced I play one for a bit buy 2 beat octo expansion in 2 days and become addicted and Yeah that's about it.
Every splatoon credits song is gorgeous. I love the ones from splatoon 2. That octo expansion ending makes me cry every time. They're genuinely really nice songs just in a made up squid language.
I was like 6 or something when I first played splatoon 1 but I mostly remember just being in Best Buy playing the splatoon 1 demo and idk at some point I got it in probably late 2015 or early 2016 and I remember nothing, like I don’t even remember that much of playing splatoon 2 in the beginning because I didn’t even get into splatoon until last year just because for awhile my brother had it at college with him so uhhh idk
i cant remember how i heard about the series but i remember getting the game sometime in 2016, and ever since then, I loved the series. Got both splatoon 2 and 3 on their launch dates and suffered the wrath of burst bomb carbon roller in every game since lol
I had recently got a switch for my 12th birthday in 2019, and I remembered, somehow, a game called Splatoon. I was only able to get Splatoon 2, as the switch was my first foray into Nintendo content, but I got it in late October, and I adored it. Even without being able to play online multiplayer of any kind, I adored the campaign mode and played it to death. I didn’t even know there was the octo expansion, that it was DLC, or what DLC even was. Fast forward to the announcement of Splatoon 3 in 2021, and I started pushing for online multiplayer for myself harder than ever, which I was eventually successful with. It wasn’t until the September trailer that I knew that Splatoon had its hooks in me, and would for a long time. The nail in the coffin for me was Splatoon 3 releasing on my birthday, which was the biggest part of that day for me, even though it was my first marching band home performance. I have been enjoying Splatoon 3 almost daily since then, and plan to for years to come. Sorry for the long-winded comment, I thought it would be nice to share my experience
I haven’t even heard of Splatoon (the series) until around 2021 when I discovered rassicas and their lore videos (either that or an animation called “Morning in Splatoon”. Or the 2021 Feb Direct which I woke up at 5 AM for Zelda news. I don’t remember…) but I was intrigued by it. I decided to learn everything I can about it - I watched every lore video I could find, lived on Splatoon Wiki for a while (still do actually) and watched Octo Expansion. I was super hyped during the Splatoon 3 Direct but didn’t get the game at launch because online is expensive where I’m from and thought I was doomed to stand by the sidelines, watching and making art about the game (I loved the game’s art from the moment I saw it) but never playing it. Except that in October 2022 I bought it impulsively (alongside the expensive online required to play it) because I can’t stand anymore and holy crap I’ve never had more fun in my life with a multiplayer game. I even got my best friend to play it with me (currently we live in different time zones so we don’t get to play together that often but whenever we do, we have a blast). Today it’s my second favourite game franchise behind Zelda and I love it with all my heart
When I was like 6, I saw an ad for splatoon and really wanted it, but I never got it. Then I got splatoon 2 as well as my switch and I loved it! I didn’t really toutch on the ranked modes, and thought the golden aerospray was the best weapon, and used to watch splatoon content 24/7. When fortnite came out on switch, I decided to drop the game for a while. After what felt like forever, I gave it another chance around may 2020, and had a nonstop grind for x rank for about 2-3 months, where I switched back to motion. Seeing my brothers improve at fortnite, I started playing that again in late December 2020. Eventually, I fell out of the phase and hopped on splatoon 2 again in November 2021, and peaking a power around 2350 that year. In March 2022, I could barely sleep because I would play the game so much. I was grinding as much as I could in rainmaker cause I was 2500XP, which used to be huge for me. I only ended up hitting the power a few more times in tower control, and clams (I despise splat zones) Then splatoon 3 came along, but I was falling out of it, since it was my freshman year, and I was doing XC. Once x rank came back out though, I was getting interested. I had played a lot, and got 2700xp, and then stopped playing for a while cause the grind is exhausting.
I got to try Splatoon during the Testfire. It was the most fun I'd ever had playing a multiplayer shooter and I was addicted to the full release, sometimes playing for 14 hours straight. I haven't played 2 or 3, though, life happens. My favorite gun was the blue one with two nozzles, one above the other vertically, with the stupid-long range.
Shame you haven't tried out the other games they're both big step ups compared to the original, would highly recommend going back to the series when the time is right. I believe the weapons you're talking about is called H-3/L-3 Nozzelnose.

I got into splatoon by seeing the E3 2014 trailer of it, which I saw when I was younger, so it really wowed me and fascinated me! I was also really into little cute, lovable, cartoonish, characters that gave you imagination because it helped me become better at drawing, so I would draw them using references from the video and show them to my family, until I finally decided, "I want to ask mom and dad if I can get this game when it releases!" So I asked my parents if they could buy it for me, and they got me a Wii U and Splatoon a few days while it was in stores, and I was super happy! I played it all the way, but I didn't play much of the splatfests though, since me and my parents moved a lot, but I still had fun! I got Splatoon 2 in 2017 when I was starting to get a bit older, around 7-8 (late birthday); while I was in school and still having that love for it, It excited me to see the new features, stages, story mode, characters, weapons, etc. I had a pretty good thing going on for me there considering I was playing Splatoon 2 since 2017 up until Splatoon 3's release date (My b-day!!! 9/9), which was like, 7 years... Where did the years go?
I bought a Switch with Breath of the Wild back in 2017, which I put to the side because it didn't hook me at first. Then I decided to buy more games so I went to the store and saw a physical release of Sonic Mania+. Since I had little more money to spare, the only other game I could buy was Captain Toad and I settled down for it. When I was reaching out for my wallet, the cashier said: "Ma'am I thought you had better taste than this! Trust me, you will enjoy this game (Splatoon 2) way more than this one (Captain Toad)" then he got me a discount and said to thank him later lol Then I proceeded to put 1200 hours into Splatoon 2.
If I’m being real, the first splatoon game I ever played was the third one. I have, however, been following the game passively since the first one. I didn’t follow it too much but I remember watching someone play the story mode and the Callie vs Marie Splatfest. When splat 2 rolled around I hadn’t changed my stance, I kept watching passively and I would watch the rare splatoon video. I heard how good octo expansion was and I watched someone play it but I still didn’t get the game, the main reason being that all the splatfests had been and went by the time I started watching. Enter splatoon 3, I watched the very first reveal trailer and decided “Alright, this is the one” and patiently waited. I forgot about the game until the main trailers began to release, I started listening to the music after hearing anarchy rainbow in the trailer and realised “Damn… this ain’t bad” and the music eventually led to me getting into the lore, then the game itself, and then I was obsessed. I watched a ton of splat 2 videos and I was basically obsessed with the game. Then the third one dropped and I got it off rip. I loved the game and I still do, it is 100% one of my favourite Nintendo games of all time and it will forever hold a special place in my heart.
My uncle is one of four Wii U owners and while at his house he got me to try Splatoon 1 and I was hooked instantly. I only remember liking roller and Saltspray. I begged my parents for a Switch and Splatoon 2 when it came it.

Mostly I started playing Splatoon like any other person that had the Wii U at the time with the commercial popping up on tv for the game that was being tease to be released, at me being 13 at the time just bought it an couple of days later from launch of the physical game being out…I can remember an little bit of my experience of the game…..mostly from how I meet artists in Miiverse of the game when they post online their and the splatfests…even remembering how I was an roller user at the time before the slosher class was introduced and how I was an slosher main from then on during turf wars and ranked battles at the time….I even remember having an wipeout kill on an splatfest with an roller one time and was pogging at the time when it happen….tho not being experienced of the heated arguments of the splatfests on Miiverse , but can understand how it can bring major conflict at the time…..Looking back at the times at all 2 games now when playing splatoon 3 (being 21 rn), it feels like yesterday I was 13….having nothing else to do after school with no friends at the time, but was looking for something to change….and that’s how splatoon change my life from that :D

The first time I heard and saw splatoon was from ZackScottGames, me and my brother would watch his let's plays in the splatoon series and didn't hear much of that until I got my switch which was a few years ago Being an artist who spent 10+ years drawing, the main reason is that the art drew me in, it's so lively and happy, something I want to convey, the art was not easy to replicate as I see more new details pop up from just one drawing but that didn't stop me from making the piece. My very first artwork of splatoon made me work on it on my birthday, christmas and new years (I'm on november) I was so relieved on finishing it, I was so happy Even tho basically no one saw my hard work, that didn't matter, sure it hits so hard not having your magnum opus be recognized even by the splatoon community, but once you've been knocked down a few times, you know how to get back up I am very glad to now be part of the community despite how wild most of the people are here haha, my art has improved ever since and I'm very grateful to be part of something big now
I'm a huge fan and love the splatoon series have played it ever since I was in elementary school and now I'm out of school basically Splatoon has been with me for a long time but how i got into splatoon simple the storyline of Splatoon i absolutely love it and octo expansion made it way darker and messed up if u played the octo expansion dlc u might know what I mean but anyway I can't wait!! for more of the splatoon story to unfold when the side order dlc comes out. 😊 I also watched a 4 hour long splatoon storyline video explaining everything for the splatoon storyline call me crazy but it's worth it
I mainly played splatoon 1 story and I played a little bit local play w my siblings then after that I got splatoon 2 played it’s story (never got octo expansion😐) got Nintendo online at the end of splatoon 2 figured out that the vanilla jr is a good kit and then finally got my hands on splatoon 3 (yet to finish the story) I do want to get into competitive but since I’m not out of high school yet Idk if I’ll do it or not (also now a passionate splatana user)
It took me a while to get into Splatoon 1, and I only remember having a whole load of good times with the Wii U to be honest, I especially loved Miiverse and the fact that one time, I remember 3 enemy players each jumped into my Ink Mine. That triple splat was the height of my Splatoon 1 game and I'll wear that like a badge of honor.
I never touched a splatfest until splatoon 3 because i got the games extremely late, i think i got my wii u and my copy of the first game when the switch was about to release, and i almost didnt play splatoon 2 (except the story mode) because i didnt have the nintendo switch online

I forgot about the game for a long time, 5 years pasted by and Covid happened, and I watch his past video on “friends vs Family” and after the video I just ordered a switch with splatoon 2. I joined in the Splatoon 2 octo expansion due to Scott Falco’s side of salt video about the DLC😂 I fell in love with the splatfests, the story, and THE CHARACTERS! From there I entered my first “phase” of the game and checked out a lot of fan content due to how much I loved the characters After the final fest I kind of just left the game as whole……… until Splatoon 3 where I basically relapsed back. That’s where I am 😊

I started all the way back in splatoon 1, and I’m happy to see where the franchise goes. To be honest I do miss some features for splatoon one like the better maps and even how the amiibos work in that game.
Near Christmas 2019, I decided I wanted to try Splatoon, as I’d heard it was really fun, it was in my UA-cam recommended all the time, and I wanted to try it for myself. I got the game in Christmas that year, but I didn’t have online so I played the story mode, and I had a blast with it. Few weeks later, I got online and after a few matches, safe to say I got hooked onto the series, and the Splatfest rematches were perfectly timed for so I got to do that too. Ummmmmm that’s pretty much it haha, basically Splatoon 2 was my first game, I liked it A LOT, and I’m still here!!!
i played every splatoon game but had to let go of my switch and splatoon 2 when i was younger because my switch was broken and i didn't really had friends or social medias at the time to feel the hype but now, recently bought splatoon 3 and i hope that gold dynamo roller is going to be good because i only played this weapon back then!
The Splatoon 3 testfire. After that, I was dying to get Splatoon. I didn't get it on release date, but I remember the night before my birthday, being able to open one present, and it was Splatoon 3. I played a few matches, a Splatfest started, and then I dropped Splatoon for 2 months while Pokemon Violet took over my life. When Spicy vs Sweet vs Sour came around, I was like, "Oh yeah Splatoon. I'll play it again." I have never gone back to Pokemon seriously. Or any other game.

I totally relate to not remembering my Splatoon 1 experience, I only remember a slight feeling of chilling during summer without a worry playing Splatoon. Happens a lot with games i played really young. And I would only end up getting back into the game years later in 2018 when we got a switch. Great video 👍

I cannot stress enough how much Splatoon has made me grow as a person. I got into it because of Smash Ultimate and SMG4 and I didn't get Splatoon 2 until late 2019, so I can relate to missing out on the game's lifespan. But, I am not exaggerating when I say Splatoon and its community has gotten me through some tough times and I cannot explain how hyped I got when Splatoon 3 was first announced. And then I got Splatoon 3 on release day and played the Story Mode to 100% in one sitting after midnight. (lol, not missing the party this time!) Splatoon as a whole has really become a big part of my life and is one of, if not, my favorite game series ever. Thank you, Splatoon. For everything.

I was in the same boat as you. I didn't start playing Splatoon 2 until it was pretty at the end of it's life. I had multiple opportunities, but my platformer brain was in full force. Hell, I didn't beat Octo Expansion until a few weeks ago. But that didn't stop me from being hyped for 3 tho.

It took me 8 years of playing minecraft to go and beat the dragon so you're doing great. And I didn't even get the achievement since I had a single player sleep mod. For splatoon I still haven't beat agent 3 after 5 years of playing the game. I have random friends I added years ago and that's my marker for when I started. 5 years now. Unfortunately time goes by super fast so I didn't enjoy my time with splatoon 2 as much as I should have.
I was never able to play Splatoon 1 as a kid, because I never had a Wii U (Only a Wii) and I remember going to before at night and dreaming that I would get to play as that squidkid I so desperately wanted to be, singing along to the Calimari Inkantation as I splat Octavio back into his mech and save the Zapfish. I would spend hours on my tablet, watching gameplay videos of people playing online matches, or watching a compilation of different Story Mode bosses and mini bosses, and when Splatoon 2 was released, I was ecstatic.
I tried to convince my dad to get it for me, and he only said “yes” because he saw Fire Emblem on the shelves, but I still remember sitting in a swivel chair with my motion controls on max sensitivity playing the story mode. I loved every moment of that game, and I really miss playing it, especially now that I lost the cartridge.
I have Splatoon 3 now, and I’ve not only 1,000%’d the story mode, but I coincidentally ended up buying my Nintendo Switch Online during Spookfest, so the Splatoween victory theme was the first one I heard, and it still feels unforgettable. Now, the game’s life cycle is wrapping up, and while I don’t have anyone I can directly play with (yet), I’m very excited to keep playing, and who knows, maybe we’ll get something even better for the series later down the line.
Honestly I thought that you had at least 50k subscribers but to see that a youtube account with this level of video production "only" has 1.5k subscribers was surprising. Not to say that 1.5k is a small amound but you honestly deserve a lot more attention because this video i just so well made

When Splatoon came out, I was 6, and it looked so fun. At this age, I frequently visited GameShop and would use the Wii U they had there, and they usually had Splatoon there. Sadly, I never was able to personally use my own Wii U, as I didn't have a TV with HDMI at the time, so my mom returned it. Back then, I only had a box TV, which I used my Wii on. It sucked not being able to use the Wii U, but I would always watch Splatoon videos, either it being people gaming, or animation videos. I remember watching those animation videos with my best friend on my 3DS. Years later, me and my neighbor moved houses, not keeping contact, and I had got a Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, I never got Splatoon 2 for the Switch because I only focused on 1 game, which was Super Mario Odyssey, and also forgot about it just like you Ted. Another reason is that I was primarily a PlayStation gamer at the time. The only time I did play Splatoon 2 was the demo on the Nintendo eShop.I had got rid of my Switch, which I regret now in the present, as it was new enough to be jailbroken at the time, which I didn't know. My aunt had got a Switch for my Sister in 2021 for Christmas I believe, and she liked playing Animal Crossing on it. In 2022, Christmas, my sister wanted Splatoon (didn't mention she wanted 3), which had brought back memories of my love for the series. My mom accidently bought 2 instead of 3 but the next day, she returned it and got Splatoon 3. For some reason, she didn't really play it much. I asked her if it could play it , and the day I did, the Fresh season started. Although I didn't play Splatoon for real until 2023, I've always observed from the sidelines. My little brother first found out splatoon 2 but he didn't like it,so i played it and i loved it. Thats my short story of how i play splatoon and got into the series
I started back in Christmas of 2017. Me and my sister were opening presents, there were 2 presents that were Wii U games, we opened them at the same time, I got Minecraft for Wii U, as my sister got splatoon, she was so exited to play it. I looked at the case and thought to myself “that game looks stupid, I’m never gonna play that.” So after my sister played it a bit, she begged me to try it, so a did the tutorial… and INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. I would play splatoon 1 NON-STOP! And pretty quickly, my sister stopped playing it and now hates splatoon. And then for Christmas of 2019, i gat a Nintendo switch, with splatoon 2! I again, played non-stop. I was super upset though as with BOTH splatoon games, I had missed every splatfest. Thank goodness nintendo had some redos of splatfests in 2021 or something. And by the time I had saw nintendos trailer for Splatoon 3, I FREAKED OUT. And was so sad when it said it was coming out 2022, when it was the beginning of 2021 when the trailer came out. So I waited 1 year and a half. And it was so worth the wait. Around that time, I got inspired to make splatoon animations. Splatoon has played a big role in my life, and im so glad it did.
Man, it's been nine months since I last got to play Splatoon 3, and I know I've been missing out on all these exclusive events. But going from July 2021 to October 2022, I've been becoming more of a competitive player to the point where I became mentally ill to the real world. As of right now, at some point this year I'll be finally getting a return to see how the game has grown and hopefully not getting too addicted again.

I have almost 200 hours in the game, and I recently got Splatoon 3 and have amassed 100 hours so far. I’m really looking forward to the Side Order DLC. In the meantime, I’ve been grinding the catalog rewards and playing a ton of Rainmaker and Salmon Run. Some of my favorite modes.

I watched this community from a distance for basically all of high school, and I'm always amazed at how the vast majority of it doesn't seem to fall into traps about nostalgia, or gatekeeping, or constant complaints about balance, it just seems to be one massive vibe session for the most part. I think this video captures that really well, so thanks for making it. And screw it, I think I'll finally give Splat3 a real try after just letting it sit on my Switch since launch
I was 7 when splatoon 1 came out, my dad said it was a thing when he was a kid and that made me try to get interested (almost 9 years after the release of splatoon 1 I'm still in love with the franchise)
my sibling bought splatoon 2, and I was curious in playing it. The issue was I didn't have online and didn't feel like getting it. A few years pass and my sibling dropped splatoon (they had for a while, it's just that they lost it ). Eventually when they found it, they asked if I wanted it, and by this point I did have online due to other games. So, I started playing. I picked up soda slosher, and when splatoon 3 came out, I mained and still main v slosh. so yay funny squid game :)
I got into splatoon in roughly 2016-18, about after the Final Fest and a lot of splatoon content was booming on youtube. Originally it started with agent comic dubs, I didn't even realize there were playable games until I opened my switch and saw it on the e-shop. Also, as an only child with a limited amount of friends, I was fairly alone in my enjoyment of the game and conent, but found social media to be a good way to connect to other players. I've never played the original splatoon; I consider myself a casual fan, but I'm well versed in the lore and I've found myself in an inkredible community on a few platforms, and indulging in a lot of splatoon related content- like this video! I haven't watched it entirely as of writing, but I'm enjoying it so far.
I clicked onto this video because its nice to see people talk about their experience of splatoon and saying so much fun they've had! It actually made me remember myself in the process but i waited until the end to play and write this, thanks for showing how even if you haven't been addicted to a game from the start you can always get back into it and have an amazing time.
The main things I remember about my Splatoon experience was getting both a Wii U AND Splatoon for Christmas in 2015, and my sibling and I being on opposite teams for Callie VS Marie (I was Team Callie and was SO disappointed when I lost). Splatoon 2, though, gave me the Squid Sisters character development I really needed, as well as giving me more characters to obsess over with Off the Hook. I ended up getting the second game a short while before Chaos VS Order, and I was ALSO on the losing side of THAT final Splatfest! I have yet to obtain Splatoon 3, but my obsession over it has grown back into the spotlight in the past few days because of mashups. Back in Splat1, I used one of the Aerosprays, while in Splat2, I experimented more by using Tri-Slosher, K-Shot, and a few more that I don't remember.
Just like you, I really don’t remember much of my Splatoon 1 days much at all, heck I never even played a single splatfest, unfortunately, don’t remember how I got the game but it did get into my hands. Then Splatoon 2 rolled around, and the same thing happened, I don’t remember much honestly. I really didn’t get into it until around Chaos vs Order. That’s where it really all started, I played a ton of splat2, I made friends, and found some communities that I now call home. Now with Splatoon 3, I play the game super often, I feel like I play better than ever but still have much room for improvement. I absolutely love this game with all my heart and cannot wait to see what it has in store for us in the future.
Also Octo Expansion slapped and was just amazing, can’t wait for what Side Order has for us.

I got into Splatoon 2 (my first splatoon game) by my dad buying it for me along with another game I had zero interest in, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (still haven’t touched it since day 1 of having it)
me and my brother saw the splatoon 1 commercial on tv and were like “this hide in ink thing looks pretty cool imma kick your ass in this game” he soon got bored of it but i fell in love with the game and the online mode, splatfests, everything. splatoon 2 was announced (or released? i dint remember) around a brand new turn on life for me where i met new friends i still talk with to this day, they liked splatoon. i still remember making some money from my summer job and spending all of it on a switch and a copy of splatoon 2 still early into its life. at the time my friends introduced me to discord where we voice chatted and played splatoon together late into the night. the flight versus invincibility splatfest will be a key moment for me, i still remember and look back on being awake until 4am making it all the way to king/queen rank on the first day, and being sad that the splatfest was over. when splatoon 3 rolled around, i couldnt find the time to play with my friends often, we still do, but we’re always busy. i often play alone. i feel you when you said this series is much more enjoyable with friends, i found myself being burnt out from many things, sadly this time around splatoon is being affected. im going to put more effort into improving my mental health, mindset, everything really, and hopefully i can return with the burning passion i had for splatoon, and other things again

MAN what timing this video had. I bought splatoon 3 a few months ago, after not playing splatoon 1 since I was basically a kid. I started playing splatoon for the same reasons, also it didn't have chat/vc which made me feel at ease even if I messed up. It was one of the few games available for the wii U, and my brother really wanted the shiny new console even tho I was opposed. I'm glad we got it.
I do remember wanting to get splatoon 2 but I was more interested in playing BoTW and I didn't even have a switch. I am kinda sad that I missed the world premiere for splatoon 3 since I was pretty much hyper about it coming out but at least now I'm finally playing it.

I started playing it again this week. I preordered the game as a kid and eagerly awaited its release and it did not disappoint me. I quickly hit max level (I think 50 at the start) and continued to play for a year or 2. I returned briefly for splatoon 2 but now I have started playing splatoon 3 and let me just say, it perfectly captures that feeling of unlimited replayability and fun that so many games from being a child had.
I got Splatoon 1 as a Christmas gift, but didn't play it much at first-mostly because I was hyperfixated on Pikmin at the time-until one of my friends mentioned that they had it, and I agreed to play it with them. From that point forward, I was addicted and played it every day for hours.
To this day, I don't think I've ever been as hyped for a game as my going-into-high-school-self was for Splatoon 2. I watched the Switch presentation SOLELY for Splat2, watched every piece of demo footage from the event along with a LOT of Testfire footage before I had a Switch, and speculated hard about what could be in it. The wait for it was unbearable since on the day of release the package didn't arrive until almost 5pm, and the mailwoman came up mere moments before we were about to leave to go to my grandparents house for dinner. I ended up spending the time there playing through most of the story mode, and finished it once we went home.
For the next two years, I was on the game at almost every moment of my free time, whether playing with friends or in solo, and eagerly awaited every update. I even spent some time in a competitive team for about a year. By the end, I had well over 3000 hours into it. (And yes, i was crazy enough to 1000% Octo Canyon lol)
Shortly after the final fest, I fell into Smash for a while and basically took a break from Splatoon for a bit and explored some other games. Surprisingly, when Splatoon 3 was announced, my hype wasn't as extreme for a while even with the amazing reveal trailer-I was excited of course, and knew I was going to buy it, but I wasn't a vulture for content like I was for 2 (then again, that's probably because there wasn't much info for a while lol). However, when the Direct came out and with the Splatfest Premiere, I was once again hooked and prepurchased it shortly after the end of the fest. At launch, I hopped on with some friends and played for hours, and with a few play sessions, I finished the story as well, with 3's final boss becoming my favorite of the series.
Fast forward to today, despite 3's issues with a slow update cycle and stage design, I still think that gameplay-wise, it has the most fun movement of the series with squid rolls especially. With some changes, it could become the uncontested best Splatoon game, so hopefully with Side Order finally being wrapped up and the full team can focus on the multiplayer, we can see the game rise to its full potential.
But no matter where it goes, this is a franchise that I will cherish even when I'm on my deathbed.

I remember going to Target to get Splatoon 1 with my mom in the Summer of 2015. I was only in like 4th grade or so but I remember all the advertising for the game. I ended up playing that game throuhgout all of it's lifetime and had so much fun playing it. I only really had like 1 other friend to play it with, but that's 1 more than I have to play Splatoon 3 now, but I had so much fun with that game

My first experience with splatoon was with my brother, in the Splatoon 1 dojo. I’m not sure why, but I absolutely loved it, and i was always begging him to let me play Splatoon 1, because i didnt have a Wii U . After the Switch dropped, my parents got me Splatoon 2, and i ended up glued to that game for two years. However, i ended up forgetting about it for another couple years until Splatoon 3 was announced. After that, i threw myself into competitive youtube content ( i watched only prochara at first, and then i branched out ), and started to learn more about which weapons were good, which weapons were bad, and how to manage tilt. After Splatoon 3 got announced, ive been playing it nearly everyday. Im fortunate to have good friend that also likes splatoon 3, although they play it like once a month. I usually call them for the challenges, splatfests, and big runs, and im happy to have them as a friend.

I played the first game on my friends wii u, used to go to his house after school every day to play smash and then we started playing that. We'd take turns since splatoons local multi-player on a wii u game pad was not ideal
I've been interested in Splatoon since the first one, but couldn't actually play it due to not having a Wii U, so I consumed as much content as I could. Around the end of Splatoon 2's era, I sorta dropped the series until 3 was announced, and then absolutely relapsed, despite, again, not being able to play.
I recently got a Switch for my birthday, my brother got me Splatoon 2 (he would have gotten 3 but couldn't find it, unfortunately) and one of my best friends got me online.
I don't even mind the fact that online is kinda dead now, it's safe to say I'm gonna be here a while!
I started "playing" when I got Splatoon 2 the September after it released. I say "played" because I didn't have a Nintendo account and when I got one, I didn't get Online until late April last year. I got Splatoon 3 the day it released and I've been mostly playing it since it released.
Another thing: I'm not from America but Ireland so I got both of them at my local Smyths. In Dublin. 30 minutes away.
I remember seeing Stampy play the testfire of Splatoon 1. I got the game twice as my first copy got scratched and I used that until it wouldn't read the disk anymore (I would try and try again until it booted up, then one time it just wouldn't work) and the 2nd copy I still own
My parents got me the game for my birthday 2015. I played it so much and I loved it. I probably did the story mode 3 times now and turf war was my favourite mode. I got splatoon 2 in 2019, played turf war, story mode, and octo expansion. Then I got splatoon 3 on release date, and played the hell out of it.
This is such a great video! It so great to hear other people's stories and what the splatoon series means to them, after watching this video I might be inspired to make one for my experience

I remeber getting into splatoon on my Wii U, although I don’t remember much of it since I was really young. I later got into it again when I got a switch and now regularly play Splatoon 2, and I’m gonna get Splatoon 3 soon!
Got into it with the first global testfire and got the game day 1, got the other 2 on day 1 also and participated in every Splatfest and got champion or higher in every one, with king/ruler rank in the vast majority. Never got hardcore into ranked. Mostly played Aerospray in 1, but played random weapons in 2/3. Also did 1000% 2 hero mode and inner agent 3 relatively close to the releases of those modes.
I feel your pain with the DJ Octavio boos battle. I had a full on breakdown while fight the egg sucking, no good, cocaine bear that was Grizz. Hell I was BESIDE myself it haunts me to this day.
I love this franchise so much! Still haven't gotten around to playing it but as soon as i get my hands on a swich it'll be the first game I'm going to play! Just haven't decided if i want to play octoexpansion first or the main one
Ive been playing splatoon since the year the first game released when I was in primary school (equivalent of elementary school) and was introduced to it by my dad who showed me the trailers thinking it looked cool, I got the game at the end of the school year for doing well and played the heck out of it, my friend got it too and we did nothing but talk about it for ages.
I was very bad at the game getting like 2 splats per turf war.
I got a switch and splatoon 2 for christmas the year it released and played about 500 hours of it, eventually managing to get to S+0 maining the dark tetra dualies before splatoon 3, I only played about 100 games of salmon run and got to profreshinal but then forgot about it. I also completed every level of octo expansion as well as inner agent 3 which caused me to realise how using obstacles for cover worked and forced me to improve my technical skill.
Then after pre orering splatoon 3 and playing through the whole story mode after launch, my attention shifted to mostly salmon run where I've now got over 1100 shifts and a lovely Hazard Level Max badge.
Ive also began to explore using the explosher and E-Liter 4K.
Splatoon is very near and dear to my heart and has been a big part of my life for years.
I got splatoon along with my wii u and i also don’t remeber the experience other than storymode, but i wasn’t really playing it i didn’t even experienced a splatfest. But i was starting to get into the in splatoon 2 seeing how great the game is, and then my brother also got into the game. But later we kinda got bored of it, until octo expansion came out and it was amazing pretty much make me love the game even more, and also made octolings my fav cephalopod, And that was my how got into splatoon.
The way I first got into splatoon was my friends were talking about splatoon 3 when it first came out. Up until that point I had never given the series a chance because I thought it was stupid. My friends were talking about and sharing so much splatoon 3 stuff that I got to the point of deciding to finally give splatoon a chance. October 10th, 2022 was when I bought it and the first time I ever picked up a splatoon game. It was hard to get used to, but I’ve been obsessed ever since. I’m still a little self conscious that Splatoon 3 was my first game, but I’m so happy I finally decided to give the game a chance. I loved it so much I ended up buying Splatoon 2 and playing that! This community is the first one I actually feel at home with and I couldn’t be more grateful
I started in 2, I came across a video of all the bosses (pre octo expansion) and just really loved how it looked, and how good the music was to me. Eventually convinced my family to get me a switch and now I’m just a casual Splatoon gamer
3 is my first game in the series, bought it after watching an Arlo review. a year later I have over 1000 hours in the game. Definitely helped me at some of the lower points of my recent life, esp dealing with work & family stresses by playing Anarchy. Nautilus made me fall in love with the game
i got into the game because my friend had another friend that liked splatoon a lot, and she mistook me for her other friend and asked me “you like splatoon right?” and i didnt really know what it was about but i knew what it was so i told her i did, and she showed me a really cool splatoon edit, from then on i started hyperfixating on splatoon, thanks to my friend 👍
I first played this game during the first testfire aka the ancient times of this game. But i didn't get game until a month later on my 9th birthday and i played the hell out of it but somehow only reaching A rank at the end of its life time. I got Splatoon 2 about 1 year and half later from it's release because i didn't have a switch. But i played the hell out of splatoon 2 and is my most played still. I only got splatoon 2 because my little sister was obsessed with it. So i only got experience like 3 or 4 of the splatfests during its lifetime including the last one. And i consistently played until quaratine as for whatever i stopped playing this for whatever reason. Until summer 2022 when i got back into it, and with spatoon 3 on the horizon here we are now. It just sucks that all my IRL friends don't play or even have a switch for that matter, the only i mainly play with is my little sister.
The way I got into Splatoon was that it started by a gamestop employee (great start, I know) recommended me the game and I just kinda ignored it and declined. But after a while I looked it up on youtube to see what it was about and got quite hooked. There was a certain youtuber at the time playing it that I just kept watching and so I got interested and wanted to play it. Still remember my first match on urchin underpass, it did not go well XD. But here we are, 8 years later and I'm still a fan and boy, what a ride it has been.

Got a Wii U on Christmas of 2015, early 2016 I turn 7 and get Splatoon for my birthday and loved the game (thought I don't have many memories of the game I do have some). I got Splatoon 2 around launch but didn't really play it that much. I only really remembered the Splatoon series in general when hype started building up for Splatoon 3, so I gave Splatoon 3 a shot and am now an avid on Splatoon again.
I find this relatable. for me, I didn't just start out as someone who just kinda brushed off the series, but I actually started as one of those people who got put off by it cause of the whole "you're a kid you're a squid" thing. Now I'm a competitive player, and it all started because a friend suggested I get Splatoon 2 so we have a game we can play together. Splatoon really is a game best enjoyed with friends. Maybe one day I'll make a video of my history with the series

my cousin had a wii u but i didnt. he had splatoon and i was so excited to play because of the commercials. he let me play it when i came to visit him back in summer 2016 and I was mesmerized. Fast forward a year and Splatoon 2 comes out but I didn't have a switch. Finally got a switch in 2019 but decided to wait for the 3rd splatoon game. It was worth the wait
I got into Splatoon around 2018-2019. I had just gotten a switch and my dad bought a few games for it, one of them being Splatoon 2. I didn’t touch it for the first month of having the game. Then I decided to give it a chance and I was hooked immediately. And now 4 years later I’ve bought Splatoon 3 and the DLC and am still a pretty big fan of Splatoon

And when I finally got a switch I... just forgot about Splatoon. But I really regret that. I love this game. I'm quickly bored of it because I litteraly don't know anyone else playing it except for UA-camrs like you, but I love it. In 2018 my mom got me a Nintendo switch and it also has Splatoon 2 and I didn’t really care but one day I got bored from my other games and decided, ”why not?” I wasn’t the best and only grinded to lvl 76 and just couldn’t get a higher level and I quit after I heard that splatoon 2 is done with updates until splatoon 3 (I was team order in the final fest) I always wanted splatoon 3 when I first heard of it but I didn’t get it until June 3rd of 2023 so almost it’s first year out but with all of my experience from splatoon 2 I decided to actually get good and I’m lvl 32 at the moment and I can say I can definitely beat my lvl 76 splatoon 2 character.

Personally the way I got into Splatoon is pretty funny. Basically I recently got into Color Splash, and Paper Mario in general. Keeping things short, I got recommended this game by a friend because it apparently had some cool lore and stuff, was apparently like Color Splash (I don't get how XD) which I'd enjoyed, and it was actually a new Nintendo ip. So I gave it a try.
Yeah I loved it. Splatoon kinda became me life for a year or so. The animations were awesome (I miss them), even if they were kinda bad. The community was great (still is but ya know its not exactly the same anymore...) the game itself was fresh, thw story mode was awesome and I love how it takes place after human extinction, showing even a silly little kids game can be dark.
Yeah it was awesome and I still remember maining the N-Zaps and Rollers. I once got 29 kills with a roller I believe. (Perhaps I'm recalling it wrong but this is what I've gone with the past couple years so I think that's true) pretty impressive for a casual.
When splatoon 2 came around....I lost the cartridge and then forgot about the game... then splatoon 3 gets announced I play one for a bit buy 2 beat octo expansion in 2 days and become addicted and Yeah that's about it.

i cant remember how i heard about the series but i remember getting the game sometime in 2016, and ever since then, I loved the series. Got both splatoon 2 and 3 on their launch dates and suffered the wrath of burst bomb carbon roller in every game since lol
I had recently got a switch for my 12th birthday in 2019, and I remembered, somehow, a game called Splatoon. I was only able to get Splatoon 2, as the switch was my first foray into Nintendo content, but I got it in late October, and I adored it. Even without being able to play online multiplayer of any kind, I adored the campaign mode and played it to death. I didn’t even know there was the octo expansion, that it was DLC, or what DLC even was. Fast forward to the announcement of Splatoon 3 in 2021, and I started pushing for online multiplayer for myself harder than ever, which I was eventually successful with. It wasn’t until the September trailer that I knew that Splatoon had its hooks in me, and would for a long time. The nail in the coffin for me was Splatoon 3 releasing on my birthday, which was the biggest part of that day for me, even though it was my first marching band home performance. I have been enjoying Splatoon 3 almost daily since then, and plan to for years to come. Sorry for the long-winded comment, I thought it would be nice to share my experience

I haven’t even heard of Splatoon (the series) until around 2021 when I discovered rassicas and their lore videos (either that or an animation called “Morning in Splatoon”. Or the 2021 Feb Direct which I woke up at 5 AM for Zelda news. I don’t remember…) but I was intrigued by it. I decided to learn everything I can about it - I watched every lore video I could find, lived on Splatoon Wiki for a while (still do actually) and watched Octo Expansion. I was super hyped during the Splatoon 3 Direct but didn’t get the game at launch because online is expensive where I’m from and thought I was doomed to stand by the sidelines, watching and making art about the game (I loved the game’s art from the moment I saw it) but never playing it.
Except that in October 2022 I bought it impulsively (alongside the expensive online required to play it) because I can’t stand anymore and holy crap I’ve never had more fun in my life with a multiplayer game. I even got my best friend to play it with me (currently we live in different time zones so we don’t get to play together that often but whenever we do, we have a blast). Today it’s my second favourite game franchise behind Zelda and I love it with all my heart

When I was like 6, I saw an ad for splatoon and really wanted it, but I never got it. Then I got splatoon 2 as well as my switch and I loved it! I didn’t really toutch on the ranked modes, and thought the golden aerospray was the best weapon, and used to watch splatoon content 24/7. When fortnite came out on switch, I decided to drop the game for a while. After what felt like forever, I gave it another chance around may 2020, and had a nonstop grind for x rank for about 2-3 months, where I switched back to motion. Seeing my brothers improve at fortnite, I started playing that again in late December 2020. Eventually, I fell out of the phase and hopped on splatoon 2 again in November 2021, and peaking a power around 2350 that year. In March 2022, I could barely sleep because I would play the game so much. I was grinding as much as I could in rainmaker cause I was 2500XP, which used to be huge for me. I only ended up hitting the power a few more times in tower control, and clams (I despise splat zones) Then splatoon 3 came along, but I was falling out of it, since it was my freshman year, and I was doing XC. Once x rank came back out though, I was getting interested. I had played a lot, and got 2700xp, and then stopped playing for a while cause the grind is exhausting.
I got to try Splatoon during the Testfire. It was the most fun I'd ever had playing a multiplayer shooter and I was addicted to the full release, sometimes playing for 14 hours straight. I haven't played 2 or 3, though, life happens.
My favorite gun was the blue one with two nozzles, one above the other vertically, with the stupid-long range.
Shame you haven't tried out the other games they're both big step ups compared to the original, would highly recommend going back to the series when the time is right. I believe the weapons you're talking about is called H-3/L-3 Nozzelnose.

I was also really into little cute, lovable, cartoonish, characters that gave you imagination because it helped me become better at drawing, so I would draw them using references from the video and show them to my family, until I finally decided, "I want to ask mom and dad if I can get this game when it releases!" So I asked my parents if they could buy it for me, and they got me a Wii U and Splatoon a few days while it was in stores, and I was super happy! I played it all the way, but I didn't play much of the splatfests though, since me and my parents moved a lot, but I still had fun! I got Splatoon 2 in 2017 when I was starting to get a bit older, around 7-8 (late birthday); while I was in school and still having that love for it, It excited me to see the new features, stages, story mode, characters, weapons, etc. I had a pretty good thing going on for me there considering I was playing Splatoon 2 since 2017 up until Splatoon 3's release date (My b-day!!! 9/9), which was like, 7 years... Where did the years go?
I bought a Switch with Breath of the Wild back in 2017, which I put to the side because it didn't hook me at first. Then I decided to buy more games so I went to the store and saw a physical release of Sonic Mania+. Since I had little more money to spare, the only other game I could buy was Captain Toad and I settled down for it. When I was reaching out for my wallet, the cashier said: "Ma'am I thought you had better taste than this! Trust me, you will enjoy this game (Splatoon 2) way more than this one (Captain Toad)" then he got me a discount and said to thank him later lol
Then I proceeded to put 1200 hours into Splatoon 2.
This is actually such a dope story, that cashier had future vision or something.

If I’m being real, the first splatoon game I ever played was the third one. I have, however, been following the game passively since the first one. I didn’t follow it too much but I remember watching someone play the story mode and the Callie vs Marie Splatfest. When splat 2 rolled around I hadn’t changed my stance, I kept watching passively and I would watch the rare splatoon video. I heard how good octo expansion was and I watched someone play it but I still didn’t get the game, the main reason being that all the splatfests had been and went by the time I started watching. Enter splatoon 3, I watched the very first reveal trailer and decided “Alright, this is the one” and patiently waited. I forgot about the game until the main trailers began to release, I started listening to the music after hearing anarchy rainbow in the trailer and realised “Damn… this ain’t bad” and the music eventually led to me getting into the lore, then the game itself, and then I was obsessed. I watched a ton of splat 2 videos and I was basically obsessed with the game. Then the third one dropped and I got it off rip. I loved the game and I still do, it is 100% one of my favourite Nintendo games of all time and it will forever hold a special place in my heart.
My uncle is one of four Wii U owners and while at his house he got me to try Splatoon 1 and I was hooked instantly. I only remember liking roller and Saltspray. I begged my parents for a Switch and Splatoon 2 when it came it.

Mostly I started playing Splatoon like any other person that had the Wii U at the time with the commercial popping up on tv for the game that was being tease to be released, at me being 13 at the time just bought it an couple of days later from launch of the physical game being out…I can remember an little bit of my experience of the game…..mostly from how I meet artists in Miiverse of the game when they post online their and the splatfests…even remembering how I was an roller user at the time before the slosher class was introduced and how I was an slosher main from then on during turf wars and ranked battles at the time….I even remember having an wipeout kill on an splatfest with an roller one time and was pogging at the time when it happen….tho not being experienced of the heated arguments of the splatfests on Miiverse , but can understand how it can bring major conflict at the time…..Looking back at the times at all 2 games now when playing splatoon 3 (being 21 rn), it feels like yesterday I was 13….having nothing else to do after school with no friends at the time, but was looking for something to change….and that’s how splatoon change my life from that :D

for me i knew about splatoon for a while but never really got into it, i actually started learning more abt it from the manga of all things! - my old friend felt bad that they didn’t have anyone to talk about it with so i decided to give it a read (even tho i had no idea what was going on) and thats where my interest started ! i bought splatoon 2 in 2019 (right during pancakes v waffles ) n then fell in love HARD ! i’m so obsessed w this silly game it’s not funny
.. i also used kshot BAHAJA i didnt know how infamous the weapon was in the community I just thought it was fun to play (do they know) but then i used heavy splatling deco Once and since then i am a huge splatling lover

The first time I heard and saw splatoon was from ZackScottGames, me and my brother would watch his let's plays in the splatoon series and didn't hear much of that until I got my switch which was a few years ago
Being an artist who spent 10+ years drawing, the main reason is that the art drew me in, it's so lively and happy, something I want to convey, the art was not easy to replicate as I see more new details pop up from just one drawing but that didn't stop me from making the piece. My very first artwork of splatoon made me work on it on my birthday, christmas and new years (I'm on november) I was so relieved on finishing it, I was so happy
Even tho basically no one saw my hard work, that didn't matter, sure it hits so hard not having your magnum opus be recognized even by the splatoon community, but once you've been knocked down a few times, you know how to get back up
I am very glad to now be part of the community despite how wild most of the people are here haha, my art has improved ever since and I'm very grateful to be part of something big now

I'm a huge fan and love the splatoon series have played it ever since I was in elementary school and now I'm out of school basically Splatoon has been with me for a long time but how i got into splatoon simple the storyline of Splatoon i absolutely love it and octo expansion made it way darker and messed up if u played the octo expansion dlc u might know what I mean but anyway I can't wait!! for more of the splatoon story to unfold when the side order dlc comes out. 😊 I also watched a 4 hour long splatoon storyline video explaining everything for the splatoon storyline call me crazy but it's worth it
I mainly played splatoon 1 story and I played a little bit local play w my siblings then after that I got splatoon 2 played it’s story (never got octo expansion😐) got Nintendo online at the end of splatoon 2 figured out that the vanilla jr is a good kit and then finally got my hands on splatoon 3 (yet to finish the story) I do want to get into competitive but since I’m not out of high school yet Idk if I’ll do it or not (also now a passionate splatana user)
It took me a while to get into Splatoon 1, and I only remember having a whole load of good times with the Wii U to be honest, I especially loved Miiverse and the fact that one time, I remember 3 enemy players each jumped into my Ink Mine. That triple splat was the height of my Splatoon 1 game and I'll wear that like a badge of honor.
I never touched a splatfest until splatoon 3 because i got the games extremely late, i think i got my wii u and my copy of the first game when the switch was about to release, and i almost didnt play splatoon 2 (except the story mode) because i didnt have the nintendo switch online
I remember watching ZactScottGames play it and it looked fun, but sadly I was 8 years old so I couldn't get it. I forgot about the game for a long time, 5 years pasted by and Covid happened, and I watch his past video on “friends vs Family” and after the video I just ordered a switch with splatoon 2. I'm glad that I've came across this game because it's a masterpiece

I fell in love with the splatfests, the story, and THE CHARACTERS!
From there I entered my first “phase” of the game and checked out a lot of fan content due to how much I loved the characters
After the final fest I kind of just left the game as whole……… until Splatoon 3 where I basically relapsed back.

i always enjoy theese kinda stories. i never got into splatoon or have played it but still like to watch the game and hear about the story/lore. i kinda wanted to get into it on splat 3 but thought id buy it then drop it cause its not my thing "competitive wise" im more into smash

I started all the way back in splatoon 1, and I’m happy to see where the franchise goes.
To be honest I do miss some features for splatoon one like the better maps and even how the amiibos work in that game.
Near Christmas 2019, I decided I wanted to try Splatoon, as I’d heard it was really fun, it was in my UA-cam recommended all the time, and I wanted to try it for myself.
I got the game in Christmas that year, but I didn’t have online so I played the story mode, and I had a blast with it.
Few weeks later, I got online and after a few matches, safe to say I got hooked onto the series, and the Splatfest rematches were perfectly timed for so I got to do that too.
Ummmmmm that’s pretty much it haha, basically Splatoon 2 was my first game, I liked it A LOT, and I’m still here!!!
i played every splatoon game but had to let go of my switch and splatoon 2 when i was younger because my switch was broken and i didn't really had friends or social medias at the time to feel the hype but now, recently bought splatoon 3 and i hope that gold dynamo roller is going to be good because i only played this weapon back then!
The Splatoon 3 testfire. After that, I was dying to get Splatoon. I didn't get it on release date, but I remember the night before my birthday, being able to open one present, and it was Splatoon 3. I played a few matches, a Splatfest started, and then I dropped Splatoon for 2 months while Pokemon Violet took over my life. When Spicy vs Sweet vs Sour came around, I was like, "Oh yeah Splatoon. I'll play it again."
I have never gone back to Pokemon seriously. Or any other game.
