You sir are underrated
Thank you! really appreciate that.
Phenomenal! Great job, guys! Very well edited video, too! I'm gonna have me try to build one some day!
You should! They're good fun!
@@FortInTheWoods how can I modify it to ensure it has longer range and power
If you can get some fiberglass rods to pit through the pipe that can add some strength.
Found this on the 11th hour. What a godsend! EXACTLY what I was looking for. Love the wooden end idea. No heating and forming BS. 3 questions. 1. Does the wood elongate the hole of the PVC after shooting it a while? 2 What arrow spine(s) would go good for this type of bow?. 3. Can that Bear Titan bow draw farther back than 28" than it was designed for? This video alone, gets a Like/Subscribe/Bell
Glad we were able to help! We've always used the thicker conduit available at Home Depot and never had an issue with the ends. I think for the bear and pvc bow anything over a youth arrow would suffice. I've noticed youth arrows flowing too much. As far as draw, I think the Bear could likely go further but haven't really tried. Thanks and welcome!
Isn't cutting two different materials, shaving the wood down to size and filing it just as much work as "heating and forming bs"?
Good question, but I don't think so. Way more people have access to blades and saws than to heat guns and this is way easier to get right, less margin for error than the heat and form method.
@@stephenr85 Not if you don't have a heat gun.
This is great for someone who just wants to have fun!
Absolutely!
Does it make sense to compare accuracy, though? I would expect that to depend greatly on the skill. However I expect much more difference in speed/energy, that would be a more useful comparison I think
I'm a little late to the party, but better late than never. This was the best 3 minute video ever. I live up here in the Land of Snow and Ice and I've wanted something to occupy my time in my basement. Like shooting a sling shot or a pellet gun in that my basement is 60' long. But growing up I always loved shooting my bow and arrows. So NOW, you've given me a way to exactly that. Just for "plinking" if you will, my personal enjoyment/therapy and without spending a sky's the limit amount on a compound bow or even a crossbow which have always fascinated me. Thank you again and Happy Shooting. FWIW, I subscribed to your channel.
P.S. How does one go about measuring/knowing what length arrow to buy and use and of what material?
Fantastic! Glad you enjoyed it and it gave you a project to try out. No such thing as late to the party here, I love seeing comments come in no matter how long the video has been out and try to respond to all of them.
When picking an arrow length you need to consider how long your arms are, make sure that you would be able to pull the bow string all the way back without the arrow sliding off the rest point on the bow. A good way to test this is hold your arm out as if you were holding the bow, and then measure from your fist to the corner of your mouth and then add a few inches, maybe 3 or 4. Arrows don't come in a terrible number of lengths so I would just say err on the side of too long if your not sure so you can get the most draw possible out of it.
As far as material the arrow is made out of, I like carbon fiber best. Fiberglass is good if you want to buy a bunch of them for cheap but they usually aren't as high quality.
Thanks for the question, you've given me an idea for a new short video
I'd just go with full length arrows.
You might want to get the proper spine on your arrows depending on the weight of your bow.
There are spine charts to tell you what spine you will need depending on the weight of arrowheads, draw length, and poundage of pull.
I just started learning about it myself.
Good luck bud
Very cool to see others having fun with PVC archery! Thanks for sharing the tradition 🎯✌🦌🦃
Thank you! Always good to run into fellow archers on here!
@@FortInTheWoods likewise, keep spreading the passion ✌
This was really great!
Put 4 Pieces of Fiberglass rod inside, 1-5', 1-4', 2-2', all centered. It will make your bow MUCH stronger
Thats what I was thinking and it keeps its shape for longer as well
Absolutely that's definitely something you can do and would make it much stronger if you want it to be
Upgrades people! Haha yeah if you want to add more power that'd definitely be a good way to go
Could also use smaller diameter pvc inside, might not be as powerul as fiberglass but definitely easier to find
@@then00brathalosIf you plan of using PVC inside another piece of PVC, I highly suggest cutting a slit along the inside pipe like in Themanscave's video.
Other methods that use heat or force to get the smaller pipe in usually ends up causing the outside pipe to crack or pop even with the bow unstrung.
Great video! Can’t wait to try this out
Yeah dude do it! Let us know how it goes!
Very cool! You guys know how to keep having fun :)
Of course! No shortage of ideas here haha
Really well made video, no idea why you guys get such low view counts
Cause UA-cam is an uphill climb lol, thanks for the kind words. We're going to make our YT comeback very very soon
I takie filmy lubie ,krótko ,na temat i do rzeczy !❤
This is amazing
Thank you!
Would putting fiberglass tubes inside increase the power and aim?
Absolutely, we used to do that as kids. You can use old tent poles
Love it!!!
Give it a shot! Good project to do with the kids if you've got them
maybe put driveway markers in the middle !
i like the wood at the ends !! still a good bow and video!!
Thats really cool and also im going to make a bow. I would make it out of bamboo but i dont know if that would be good but goodluck to mean and youve earned a subscriber
Hmm that would be cool to try but my thought is that it would probably break. I don't think bamboo can bend a whole lot without cracking, but it may be worth a shot!
Thanks for subscribing!
Okay... No fuss build... Seems great!
Thanks! That's what I was going for on this one!
Great video /info / demo - THANKS ! Winderinf the lbs / strenght ? 15 - 20 or ? How about adding some type of whatever ( fiber glass rod or ? ) as to get more power / lbs. ? How thick is the paracord you use?
If you made a reflexed version with siyahs, would it be a bit faster?
My childhood toy.
So simple…curious what is the draw weight
Not sure exactly but I know it's pretty low. Probably 25 lbs or less. Good for kids.
@@FortInTheWoods 25 lbs - good for kids or in the house :) Thanks again for the inspiration
What was the store bought bow you used for comparison it looks similar to something I used as a kid
It's the Titan made by Bear Archery. I will say though I bought this one a number of years ago, and I don't like the ones they make now as much. I have a couple of the newer ones as well and the old one has this nice cord wrap on the bow string to keep the arrow nocked into place nice and firmly, but they removed it on the new ones, just to save cost I guess. Still a decent starter bow but I would try to customize it some to add that nock point back.
Will it shoot the arrows hard enough to penetrate and/or go through a deer ?
Bow is 20 or 30lbs. I'd say it would need to have a fiberglass core before larger game hunting.
@@FortInTheWoods What would the fiberglass core do for it ?
Some people put orange driveway markers inside to add a lot of strength to the bow.
@@FortInTheWoods Where would I get those ?
I believe home depot, Lowes or Amazon.
What is the inside diameter of the tube
Damm . Seriously wow . I mean every video of pvc bow shows to get fibre rod inside pvc bow which is expensive. Great video . Thank u .
Yeah that's definitely something you can do to make the bow stronger but not necessary at all. Thanks for the comment!
What is the poundage of this bow?
Pretty low, not sure exactly but somewhere around 25 pounds or less probably
Put an equal length section of 1/2 inch inside the 3/4 inch..
Never done that before. That's a good idea I'll have to give that a shot. Does it work pretty well?
Nice
Thanks
Esta chido perl haci como es de facil hacerlo, es facil romperlo o que se te rompa, a mi se me rompio xd
Wowww the bow really worked for me, do I have any idea how to make an arrow?
I've actually got an older video about that!
Just use rebar
@@hornetIIkite3 what’s that ?
@@h7ain73 steel rods that are used to reinforce concrete. They really pack a punch if your bow is powerfull enough
I made mine today
Awesome! If you're on Instagram tag me in a picture of it so we can see it
@@FortInTheWoods I’ll do that right now I’ll post it on my story
What was the other bow you used
The Bear Titan. They don't come in green anymore, they make them gray now and the string that comes with them isn't as nice
جميل جدا ❤
I have one word for this
How
Is that a native american greeting or do you have a question? Lol
@@FortInTheWoods i dunno
Guesstimated draw weight?
About 25 to 30 as a guess
@@FortInTheWoods awesome. Perfect for teaching my kids thank you
Oops, " wondering ."
What's the approximate draw weight?
I'd say about 25 pounds maybe 30
@@FortInTheWoods Thanks, enough to take smallgame ,even a deer in a pinch.
Draw weight?
Great question, no idea haha. I should probably measure it but if I had to guess I'd say some where around 25 or 30 maybe?
@@FortInTheWoods ah okay, that's fairly decent actually

What about the arrow???
Great question! I actually did a video on how to make an arrow with a picture tip. Honestly though it turned out a bit fragile and could be improved some but the base concept of that video is solid. If I did it again though I would attach the point differently so it was more secure
can anyone help me out, for me it broke at the handle, i do not know what i did wrong.
Ahh that's unfortunate. Did you use the gray kind? What length did you cut the pipe to?
@@FortInTheWoods i got the pipe from a electric shop but it was white and its length was like 4.8 or 4.9 feet, i will be trying again, i watched your other video about pvc bow
I've tried the white pipe before and it can be brittle and especially in the cold. A little longer will also help. Good luck!
@@FortInTheWoods i have built a fiberglass bow now and i am about to make a bamboo bow i will try a pvc bow this way soon, i think mine broke cause mine was not a s40 pipe
I know this is an older comment, but a simple test is to wrap the end of the pipe that you want to test with a towel and hit it hard with a hammer.
If the pipe shatters, be cautious as it is brittle. If the pipe cracks without shattering, it will work better with a core or internal handle support.
If the pipe does not break and instead begins deforming or flattening under the hammer blows, it will work well for this kind of bow that flexes in the handle.

I used to pretend those close hangers were a bow
Same! Never went too far haha 😄

First!
You're the best! Always first!
PVC bows are crap. They only work sometimes and don’t work for long unless reinforced by fiberglass rods or concentric double tubing (1/2” inside 3/4”). Waste of time. Use wood, laminated or composite. I have had good luck with oak backed by hickory and fiberglass. It will be powerful, beautiful and last forever.
All true, all those things make much better bows. But PVC makes a great project for younger people as it's cheaper and takes less skill to do. We made them all the time when we were kids. And if it wears out, just make a new one and keep on rolling!
Woodprix is nice for that.
Those plans can be expensive for something here for free!
Does it have to be grey I only have 3/4 inch white
We used to try using the white pvc but it can shatter. The gray, specifically electronical conduit is the best in our opinion. We do recommend being extra careful when its cold out though.
hi, i tried out your tutorial t turned out really great!!! i also sent you my results on instagram its (h.7ain). thank you so much!!!
Awesome! I'll go take a look! Sorry for the very slow response, we've been away for quite some time busy with lots of other stuff but will be making a comeback very very soon
