Heard the album six times now... THAT was the arpeggio I wanted to figure out... now I am know two parts... the Hybrid part is fun and I got it down.... the arpeggio is more work, but fun.... I'll get it eventually! You two are great! Get over here already!
I can’t stress enough how freaking amazing you both are. You did a great job of being the teacher and articulate things to help a person learn. You and Art of Guitar are my favorite channels and Andy rocks!
Watching this video in this style where you're having a conversation with another musician and talking through "learning" the riff was a very cool dynamic.
Great line Andy. Took me a few minutes to put those first three notes into their own note value group, but man, that line is cool. I can't speak to your Patreon, but if a person has trouble learning without tab, and you have tab on Patreon, that would be money well spent. I have 4 of your lessons from Truefire and Jamplay and they are worth every penny and more. Thanks to both of you for sharing and putting your skills out here for us to enjoy. Now to get this one up to half of your tempo to start with.
This was pretty sweet. When Andy was listing off places the music is available I jokingly said hooters just before he did xD love the wankshop series, would be cool to see guests like him on there once in a while. Keep it up :)
Hey Ben, the production on the album is great! Maybe you could do a quick video talking about how you put it together. what DAW, Plugins, samples (if any) bass recording techniques etc you used and where you had each instrument sit in the stereo field to get the mix. A slight departure from the traditional Uncle Ben material but I'm sure lots of viewers would be interested.
Thank you guys for doing this. One of my favorite tracks on the album. At step dad speed the intro sounds a little "Tool-ish", so cool. Also, how does Andy have a full beard and then no beard for Skankbanger shows? Inquiring minds... haha. Great job guys.
Ben/Andy, can you demonstrate the section of "Back to Austin" that's from 2:34 to 2:58? That's my favorite part of the whole album, I think. It's very melodic. The solo just after that is out of my league. I don't have the chops for that. Thanks in advance.
Question here Been practicing Andy's crosspicking and when I do it after a while it starts feeling smooth but I'll comeback the next day and it feels like all my practice from the previous day was completely erased. Have you (Uncle Ben or Andy) had this happen to you? It's really pissed me off. Do I just need to practice more?
Mr. Metalhorse that’s the battle. So you are off to a great start if you can get it smooth in a session, stay on it and it will get more and more consistent. To me it’s the most difficult right hand picking stuff, so just stay on it!
@@andywoodmusic Huge thanks for the reply man. I actually have noticed how I can get it to work in less time each day on my practice every so it's great to hear confirmation that what I'm doing is on the right path. You're a huge influence in my playing. Again thanks a lot and rock on 🤘
@@MrMetalhorse, that was a really good question. I play since 20 years and there are constantly things that seem not to "survive" till the next day. But yes, it's always getting there over time. Like Andy said already: consistency is the battle. And he is so damn right...
Are you saying without saying that this song is inspired by 1 song we all should know and love to play at GC? You guys kick arse. That whole question really didn't make sense .
You guys make a fantastic power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce should watch out! Seriously though you guys are a killer team and are putting out interesting music that shreds and is melodic and enjoyable. I played my wife some of the Live at the Bijou and she really liked it even though not being a fan of anything with actual instruments.
@@BenEller I just listen to several tracks on that album. Its pretty damn good. I would listen to country radio stations if they played music like this
coyote mangan hahaha that Suhr Hedgehog he’s using sure does sound nice! (I was clearly just sandbagging, I didn’t want to make him sound bad, you know??? ;) )
Just goes to show you that two men *can* raise the next generation of shredders together.
I have 2 *dads* and they're the coolest, hell, one's even my *uncle*

EytschPi42 on our way!!!
Thanks for the great lesson and Andy, thanks for speaking in intervals and not frets!
God Damn! That arpeggio section sounds amazing!
When I heard that arpeggio sequence I was blown away!!! Had not heard such a tasteful sequence in a long time.
As always, Andy has a feckin perfect tone. This man is going places.
I can’t stress enough how freaking amazing you both are. You did a great job of being the teacher and articulate things to help a person learn. You and Art of Guitar are my favorite channels and Andy rocks!
Favourite song on the album.
And f me. Love the arpeggio section.
I think i might have just become an andy wood fan....dude can play the Fiddle
This is just downright amazing.. thanks for putting this together!
Damn! When I saw Andy Wood I was thinking this video had something to do with Mother Love Bone!
That arpeggio melody my favorite lick on an album stuffed with awesome licks 🙂🎸
Watching this video in this style where you're having a conversation with another musician and talking through "learning" the riff was a very cool dynamic.
Yes! My favorite from the new record!
I was not disappointed though. Sounds great! Talent runs through your veins, both of you. Damn!
That's definitely the first minutes of today's practice session this evening. Looking forward to it! Sounds great! Love you guys. :)
Badass lesson, thanks!!!
Thanks so much for posting this! I love this song, and am glad I can learn how to play it correctly.
Love the song very much!!!!!
Andy's tone is so gosh darn CLEAN, hot damn!
RyBan Berr yeah man, I don’t like to pile on tons of gain. I wanna hear the personality of the guitar.
Andy Wood Music music tone

Man that sounds bad ass. I’ll probably have to buy this.
Great guitar playing and a very nice lesson!
You guys are freaking dorks. I love it!
Thank you so much for this! I've been struggling with the "chorus" section for a week now!
Andy Wood is a wizard.
Great lesson!
Bad ass song! Bad ass playing!
Good video. Loved it. I really liked the lead riff and how you both went into all the specifics.
Initially read as “Andy Wood Forgets Secrets.” Would’ve been even more psyched for that one.
Best hybrid picking lesson to date for me.....and classic Uncle Ben-isms. BTW, the Elements of Sound show was stellar!
10:34 "I never use finger rolls" Proceeds to do a finger roll at 12:09 :D great video!!!
This is awesome, I’ve been wanting to learn this arpeggio ever since I saw Andy play it at Summer NAMM last year!
Next level picking
Those two parts daunted me for a week, now I can play them too :D thanks a lot you fine folks
Got the album. It’s amazing. He’s a solid player for sure.
amazing guys

Hi..Thanks Uncle Ben ! You could have used " Bending your B " Turn Andy on ! Good to see you
For me a nice fresh new approach love it struggling but will get it
Engineering credit right there.
Sweet!
NICE! just bought the album!

love stepdad speed ,Great video:-)
Great! Maybe a piece from Tokyo next ?
« I never roll » that’s huge. I will try that…
Mint!
This was a shade bit above my 1st year of playing, but entertaining. Favorite song is Catapult.
JayP 03 stick with it. You’ll get there 👌🏼

Michael Wilson Hahahaha Andy can grow a beard on command. No lie.
Guess that's why he's Commander Andy!
Skanky! Sick new album Andy.
How does one "get a pull". If so, ill take two. Awesome video Eller.
Bill Knott get a pull, give a pull... pull with your friends!
That was fucking sick!
I didn't realize there was an "H" in 'wank' haha, Thank you for the enlightenment Uncle Ben.
The opening riff -to me- sounds like a hip version of Alice Coopers "Poisen" :-D. Great!!!!!!
That was soo nice the arpeggio stuff, hope I can learn it, am I good enough to WANK
This Wood guy seems like he has the knowing of a lot of musical
Please do Back to Austin for me and your other Texas homies!
You can play along at home!!!🤔😂😂
Not going to lie, the title initially had me thinking you somehow resurrect Andy Wood from Mother Love Bone...
Could you do a lesson on the interlude to mastodon’s scorpion breath?
Damn dad and uncle in the same room!?!?!? Mom told me different.... smh..
andy is a fine looking man
that arpeggio part is the shit
sounds a bit like a part from Eric Johnson´s Cliifs of dover......
Man if you could teach the solo in dont damn me by gnr, I would be eternally grateful.

Shoulda harmonized that lick in 3rds 👌😁
#AndyWoodManCrush
Sounds to be inspired from the slowed down part in Master of Puppets and One.
Is it possible to buy guitar backing tracks for this album?
can you do the Celtic part as well?
American country rhyming guitar slang!
Sooooo..stuff TDEP does up next?
I wish you guys were my friends.
im drunk as a skunk
coming at this just now, buuuut, that's hot stuff goin on, especially the beginning riff, destroys much today
Andy Wood is doing important shit for guitar-centric music.
Couple of beauties
"You're Marie."
Ben, is your chair _Calling on You_

It could also be that it takes you an hour or so to be properly warmed up and in sync. It's different for every person.

I still say “Wanking with Wood” is a better title.
Mecki213 needs to be a video series!
Comedy teamness.
Would?
tasty licks give me......wood?
That hybrid picking lick be like Nashville Hot Chicken.
eric johnsonish
Now this is Really a nice Video .
You do my Favorite Videos on UA-cam.
But Please a Bit more eighties Rock .
first
Why is Andy's tone just mercilessly beating Ben's tone to a bloody pulp? It seems totally uncalled for. And really, kind of mean.
coyote mangan hahaha that Suhr Hedgehog he’s using sure does sound nice! (I was clearly just sandbagging, I didn’t want to make him sound bad, you know??? ;) )
nyumnyumnyum
So unc, if i played it better than andy, would it give you wood?
