Saw this on thingiverse. Deserved a subscriber, outstanding video, i've never seen such a high production video with your subscriber count.

That's really a big improvement for the mmu. Thanks hope to successfully print it !

That is a really neat idea! When switching out filament or working with multiple spools i hate it when the filament slips and makes a tangled mess. This could fix this

Hi Vincent, thanks for your great design. Is it possible to upload the modular spring 3.4 separately? I am not able to print it on a Flsun Q5. Thanks

03:05 so your hand is mimicking the action of the extruder pulling the filament turning the spool.. and then when theres no more tension in the spool (filament change) it starts to spin backwards winding up the filament however at 03:06 after it winds it up.. it then spins back the other direction which would loosen up the spool it just wound up and possible making a mess of the spool. With that said perhaps the clutch can be modified to include one of those step lock mechanisms to prevent it from rolling back the other direction. The step lock mechanism will be disabled during printing. When done printing and removing the filament from the hotend , you engage the step lock mechanism which will use a tab that is rounded on one side and square on the other side that is set in a spring which sits inside the hub.. so when this mechanism is engaged, a latch slides open, releasing the spring tab which is rounded on the right side (side facing the direction the spool is rotating) so once it reaches it threshold, the tab's square side is pressed against a tab located on the end of the axle where theres a flat block(not sure what you call it but its function it seems is that of a cotter pin in your design to prevent that axle from slipping through the hub.
Only problem with my design is the springed tab will create friction and thus slow down the spool and cause less rotations which isnt good for those who have lots of filament to rewind.

Good point. Looking forward to view your remix demonstrating your idea 🙂

at5:59 it looks like the spring unwinds itself periodically, are there points every so often where it is completely unsprung and will not rewind?

Nope, as soon as the spring tension drops below the dynamic friction, it decelerates and stops. But if you have issues with remaining tension being too low then you can apply tape around the rim to increase the friction.

At 0:08, what are you spraying on the bed and/or axis rod?

This is so perfectly created, I printed and use it, perfect!! I have only one question I use spools of 2kg it's Spool diameter: 300mm, Spool width: ~ 100mm, Diameter mounting hole: 52mm . Can you extend your curently desing to fit for 2kg spools? You are the best!!

Yes, there is a XL stand available and longer hub and XL nuts. Let me know if you cannot find it. Don't forget to balance the spool so that it does not spin by its own weight.

is there a simpler model that's practical for a single filament printer to print?
