Preferably someone with X-Factors that Fits along Kurtz until you can grow one of your prospects. Also regarding the defense you need someone who is around 80-82 overall for the 3rd pairing. 2. In terms of the forward core I think the team could benefit from having a 3rd liner that can provide Goal scoring instead of Kerfoot I think you have enough defense between the Kurri Nabokov and the 4th line that way if the top 6 gets in a slump someone on the 3rd line can pick it up
He has a great Top 2 D-pair now and maybe Kurtz can grow like Cooley and the forwards did picking up X-factors as the season progresses. Next season he'll have 3 great D-men so no need to add more pieces

Like the PK was an issue and needed to be addressed at the TDL but the, we have youth mindset stopped those moves being made. You need an upgrade in the D-core for this season to help Kesselring.

The -1 on D3 is a bit rough... Might just need another PK specialist 80 overall guy to replace Szuber. Also should make Werenski line 2 until he signs that extension. After he is locked up you can move him around. With your top 6 F and top 4 D pretty much locked in for the next 4-6 years really it's just a matter of flipping quality middle round picks into good rental depth for each postseason run. Also gotta start thinking about the future Laine replacement. You should monitor the shot totals for players currently in the AHL and attempt to specifically grow ones that has the higher frequency or find a young player from another team that has it.
this whole 'we're a buyer so we want to trade our high lottery pick' thing the ai does is ridiculous. if youre in your stanley cup window drafting an elite/franchise player with x-factors on a rookie contract is probably the best thing for you. and if youre in salary cap hell at the end of his rookie contract you can always just qualify him. the idea of contending teams trading potential franchise superstars for like victor olofsson and matt grzelcyk is absurd.

Love these videos! You should sim one elite prospect in the AHL and all the rest in their respected leagues. You would be able to compare how potential works in different leagues, and would have a prospect in the AHL you can check in on mid szn for storyline purposes.
Johnny I think you should just use the players you draft as trade bait going forward. Realistically, low-elite 50’s players will be ready by year 8, 9 or 10, they are worthless to the franchise but their trade value is bloated due to their potential. You could gain a lot by bundling them up and shipping them out
I TOLD YOU ABOUT THE GOALIES IN A PREVIOUS COMMENT you have to scout all of the goalies for potential even the really low rated ones. there are some insane goalies that for some reason are genned in like the 500s or 1000s even

Kurtz absolutely should’ve been dropped to ATLEAST the 2nd line. His 80 overall definitely hurt your simming. You probably stunted his growth throughout the season by playing him above current role. Just putting players on the first line to get them playing time isn’t going to make them grow to their full potential. Vesce is an exception because he is a Franchise potential talent. He’s going to grow no matter what.
So just thought I'd leave a little tidbit in here for the vesce doubters. There's currently a franchise power forward in my current GM mode I'm doing. He just scored 85 goals in a season on an AI controlled team. That is all

the only thing poise does is influence star power. it's why marchand always produces in franchise mode as a 40 year old. it's got barely anything to do with playoffs. it's more of a consistency stat for skaters. a decently high overall player with really low poise won't put up a ton of points.
Move Marchand to line 3 + PP. Despite his overall he will still sim like a true star and could easily put up a 70+ point pace given more minutes. Nabokov’s growth won’t be hurt with one more year at 4th line minutes, especially considering the team will sim a lot better with Marchand getting ~15 mins a night vs 10. Also trade one of Joshua/Beauviller (whichever doesn’t play full time) for an equivalent value 81 overall d man to step in for Szuber who can be the 7th guy.
idk how i feel about the werenski trade. yes you gave up medium elite guys but they certainly werent real top prospects by any means. and your 2nd is going to likely be late 50s or worse. he does only have 1 year left on that contract so idk. eh maybe it was fine after all. felt kinda light at the time.
