Proud Stormers fan, but will be there on Saturday in the green and gold supporting the Sharks, as I think a lot of Saffas will. Cheers for all the great content!
Howzit Tim. Not related to this topic, but just wanted to let you know that one of our big radio stations in SA, radio702 have posted an article with 10 of your best quotes about chasing the sun 2. So ja, you're podcast is definitely making progress and dont think its going to be long before you get to 500k or a million subscribers. Once again thank you for a great show. Lekker🤙🇿🇦😎
First game I ever attended was Sharks vs Crusaders at Kings Park in Durban as a child. Very happy to have the opportunity to support them in London now!
And the U20 Championship started today as well with RSA, ARG & NZL looking as good as possible in absolutely terrible conditions! Rugby watching wkend will start off with Hurricanes/Waratahs, then Rebels/Blues, Crusaders/Reds, Chiefs/Force, Brumbies/Drua, Sharks/Clermont, Gloucester/Benetton, Leinster/Saints & Toulouse/Quins. In between this marathon, will be keeping an eye on the World Relays Athletics Champs in the Bahamas, wkend well & truly sorted :)
Excellent video Tim, I'm going with Gloucester and Clermont, an all European finals. If the Sharks can't beat a fully loaded Munster team in South Africa, they're not going to beat Clermont. As for Bennetton, being choc full of Italian internationals isn't really an advantage in my opinion.
I hope you're right Tim. But my gut says the other way around. Sharks still haven't quite looked the business yet. Gloucester at home should beat Benetton. But either way I'm looking forward to it.
Gloucester when they click are a different team. I'd say Gloucester on their top game will take the win and this is their entire season, they will be up for it.
Nerdy tidbit: Croke Park pitch dimensions will be big, wide and have huge in-goal areas - nothing like the Aviva or RDS. The Croke Park playing surface covers a larger area which means there will be larger in-goal areas while the pitch - keeping the goalposts in the same position - will be considerably longer and a good deal wider. Leinster's training pitch in UCD is modeled after the RDS/Aviva pitches so they will have to adjust. The surface itself in Croke Park also is different from the RDS and the Aviva..its faster. So perhaps that should favor the fast attacking Northampton game but then again the weather is forecasting a little rain...so...??? ps Also means the fans are a bit further away from the pitch.
The Sharks had the option to play in Durban, but said no. There a couple reasons, but I think one of the other reasons is to market the Sharks in EU a bit.
@@EggchasersRugby Yeah, we (those who closely follow) thought that we'd come home for the semi, but understand the idea to avoid travel too. They also mentioned that they wanted to become comfortable (desensitized) to the travel to help with resilience for the final. Hopefully it pays off, us Sharks fans have had many super rugby finals heartbreaks. Like the French national team tbh.
This is not the case. Sharks did not have that option..SA teams are not yet allowed to host European Home semi finals. That might (probably will ) change in future when SA is a member/,Partner.
@@ashBB2407 That is what the media has been saying, but it simply isn't true of the Challenge Cup. Champions Cup, yes, semi-finals away/neutral for SA teams. Everyone has assumed that the Challenge Cup had the same stipulations, but were making assumptions. Sharks opted to play in London as we were already in the UK after playing Scarlets and they wanted the players to get used to playing in England. There is a specific interview where they mention this, and will link it when I find it. You can read the Wikipedia page too, if you like and you'll notice that the wording re semis for Champions Cup and Challenge Cup are different.
Would love for Sharks to win, but I've seen them lose in many, many, many Super Rugby playoffs!! Most successful team never to have won! Hope that changes for them now
As a South African, I love this show! Thank you so much.

Sold out?
Cheers for the support boet!
@@groMMit1981 No way. Got my tickets for Stormers vs Dragons the following weekend!
What would Dobbo say lol
Jokes, all SAFFAs in London are going, to support the Boks
@@groMMit1981 are you asking if the game is sold out?
Thank you for giving the Challenge Cup some love! Being the second tier competition it seems pundits largely ignored it.

I will be there with my son - it is so great to be able to watch the Sharks in SE UK!
Don't go SE - Twickenham is SW!
No,Twickenham is in London and London is in the SE of the UK 😉

Sharks historically aren’t scared of a knock out choke … most successful super rugby team never to lift the trophy …come on the sharks 🦈!!
Would have been 2020 champs if it wasn't for Covid
How are they most successful if they never lifted trophy? Most successful loser? Choker?

Completely agree re Clermont strip, quelle horreur!

Didn't realise that. Assumed it was as before, not allowed. Interesting. Hope it pays off - in every sense.

A new young star in the making, is Ethan Hooker at centre for the Sharks, keep an eye on him
Why is hooker playing centre?
Next Springbok 12 for sure.

Sharks have coaching issues..Is Plumtree the solution ? Well The All Blacks dont think so..I will give him time but so far not convinced .
Another French team going home having been beaten by a point by a South African side 🤣
SA teams never been able to perform at highest level in Europe.
give them time I say ... they will get better
Sharks never performed in Super Rugby either
SA teams shouldn't be in any European competition
