Love how Light goes down cuz of his own arrogance. Honestly, Light would have never been caught if he could keep his composure. He killed Lind Taylor and Ray Pember when he really didn't need to. He bragged to both Pember and Naomi just before they died. He did it again here, and it cost him. Light's intelligent af, but he's got no self control, wisdom, or maturity
You have to understand that getting such a power, to decide wether someone shall live or not, has some concequences in human psyche. History is full of men that once gained incredible power, as you say, lost their composure, and it didn't end very well for them. The last episode in fact underlines what Light has become and what he could have been if only he didn't took that day that notebook from the ground (he probably would become one of the best detectives of Japan). @@meeeeeeeee8249 no he did not their is to much evidence against this, you can look at the rules of the death note to find out that this would be impossible, and even if it wasn’t near still would not cheat
@@meeeeeeeee8249 I do not classify that as cheating, and also light yagami allowed him to do it, its just light Yagami thought near switched the pages for the fake notebook not the real one. And near did not cheat because light wanted him to replace the pages but only on the fake one not the real one but that does not mean he cheated. The game was that near needed to get solid evidence on light yagami without killing them or writing their names in the death note to confess, because they consider this a lost and not actual proof who Kira was And for light to win he has to kill everybody and make sure his identity is not caught. Those are the rules. You can say that light cheated as well because he used rem to write down L’s name in the notebook which gave him an advantage however that is not cheating it is just a tool light had. So near did not cheat it’s just he was able to use resources and information in order to find out that light yagami is Kira and then he needed to make sure there was enough evidence on him. The evidence: replace the notebook pages so when everybody’s name is written down, that name that is not written down has to be Kira, because Kira obviously does not want to die, and then when the notebook does not work they take it and find out who’s name is not written down, which in this case was light yagami. Light yagami would win if he had managed to keep the real notebook from near and made them all die. Sorry if it is confusing but if you look into it it is not cheating and it was just the game of the death note, I recommend you watch/read the second half again to get a better understanding because it takes sometime to get a scope of everything

death note is so complex it’s such a work of art definitely a masterpiece. as for what happened to misa, it was never revealed in the series. ohba stated that this was because he didn’t have a situation to put her in; following the manga’s end, ohba speculated that after someone “like matsuda” let it slip that light died, misa fell into deep depression and despair and “committed suicide... something like that”. her death date is given as slightly over a year after light’s.

Anyone else lowkey wish Light won in the end and ended up becoming the “king of the world of whatever”. I personally think it’d be a cool different take on an anime going in a different direction where the villain ig wins
Nvm misa didn’t actually commit suicide also they let light talk and stuff because they knew they had him and he couldn’t do anything also they didn’t want to kill him they wanted to take him to jail.
Momin Afzal actually she did die 10 years after after trying to kill Ryuzaki she commits suicide by writing her name in the death note scribbled “Misa Amañe dies in light yagami arms”
Misa actually died one year after light on Valentine’s Day committing suicide. Can someone answer this for me though how did Misa even feel suicidal for light when she lost her memory the second time?!? I thought she loved Kira, she didn’t know light was Kira after her memory wipe so why did she do that? Did she meet light after losing her memory and fall for him naturally without knowing his true identity? That part confused me. I haven’t watched this anime in a while so I don’t really remember the details of what happened with that. Hopefully this comment section can explain.
Just finished this had to come back to see Rob, L SQUAD MAN got our come back, almost stopped watching after episode 25, Near and Mello did our boy right
An interesting thing in the manga is that it actually states what his plan is to “talk his way out of” the situation as near said. He plans to kill near with the piece of paper in his watch and then bluff his way out of the warehouse by saying that the notebook Aizawa had was fake and that only he knew where the real one was. No one there would be willing to test the notebook to see if it was real or not. Also when he reveals the piece in his watch Near’s eyes go wide with shock and possibly fear?
I love the ending. Dude with a god complex willing to kill anyone and everyone he sees as a threat to his power (including innocent people like his own family) reduced to a crybaby bitch begging for his own life when he knows he's fucked. Lots of people seem to think that the show portrais Light as an anti-hero when the author confirmed he's the villain. As if Light contemplating killing his own sister and dad to hide his secret wasn't enough of a hint. Fun facts: After the end Misa eventually committed suicide by jumping off that rooftop. Some think it's simply from grief that Light was dead while others think she was compelled to kill herself after having sacrificed half her lifespan twice. Light's little sister (forgot her name) was left in a conscious vegetative state due to the trauma from the kidnapping and near death experience. She never recovers from this and is cared for the rest of her life by her mom and medical staff.
Could you tell me how Misa even kills herself for light when she lost her memory already for the second time and didn’t know light was Kira bc I thought she loved Kira. After she lost her memory for the second time did she meet light, and naturally fall for him without knowing? I haven’t seen this anime in a while so that part confused me. A fun fact that I do know is that Misa killed herself 1 year after lights death on Valentine’s Day.
No matter how great L was No matter how smart near was No matter how much people hate Light for me he was justice, he was the light and the darkness at the same time kira was messed up, psychopath and a sociopath he was, he was my favourite character in DeathNote from the start till the end.
Well yes for you. For me no on is truly justice not even L or Light. Lights motive was good but when he said he wanted to be god i was disappointed. I liked L because he was a genius and was doing his work sincerely.
light outsmarted all of them really, its just he got caught up in his god complex but don't forget, light outsmarted a god of death(shimigami). light yagami is my favoriteand one of the best damn mc of all times.
Its funny Rob was saying the whole time “shoot him. I would’ve been killed him by now” So Light deserves to die? Isn’t that exactly what Kira’s mindset was? This is one of the reasons this anime is so great. The people who root against Light almost always resort to wanting Light dead in the end or have the death penalty be set on him.
Lol no Kira is just a murderer. No one can really care about his mindset. Although Near just wanted to arrest him and let the law deal with him,no one wouldve blamed matsuda for killing him
Too dangerous to let alive, the difference between light and the inmate killed throughout the anime is the deathnote, as long as light is alive no one is safe, that would be minimizing the weight of the deathnote.
Light was prob the person that killed most people in human history. If he existed ofc. Criminals do get death sentences still. Why he wouldnt have to die lol. Its like leaving Hitler alive or smth.
This is so easily top 4 manga/anime in anime history. The writing and character building is just outta this world. There’s a reason why this is the first anime I recommend non anime watchers. It’s a great first anime . Evan probably thinks most anime are this good but this is as good as it gets for the most part.
I love the moment when Light can see L before his death. They become best friends, really strange bf, but still. L came to see his friend for the last time, because Light can't go were L is. That's too sad and impressive at the same time. It would be great if you react to Death Parade.
So here are the estimated totals of people dead via Kira over 6 years (via Mat Patt from film theory) Light: Around 242,000 MIsa: Around 400 Higuchi: Around 8,800 Mikami: Around 28,000 Total: Around 300,000

Actually, its suprise me for how long Light could keep safe his secret (several years). No doubt he was an actual genius.
@@nero2471 History is also full of people who had power and didn't abuse it. "Power doesn't always corrupt. Power always reveals." - Robert Caro. Yes, the last episode shows Light as a student but don't forget that while Light had no memory of the notebook and was chasing Kira, he began to question whether he actually though killing criminals was wrong. Light was always going to end up in a place where he thought murder was justified as long as he thought the person was bad, he just wouldn't have had the power to kill so easily.
He lost because mikame messed up , his arrogance only confirmed everyones suspicions in the last part
@@nero2471 you and op just perfectly explained why light is one of the most interesting and genius characters ever written, and also why he deserved to ultimately lose.
He was fucked anyway, mikami didn’t wrote his name in it, je would’ve lost the same.
It only made sense Light would lose. After L died he didn’t have to deal with any shit lmao. Then out of nowhere, years later, he has to face two halves of L’s personality at full blast. Still really don’t like how the anime cut out some parts from the manga.
Manga readers know how a full elite spec ops team tried raiding Mello’s hideout with helmets covering their faces, but Sidou ripped their helmets off and their names were written in the death note by Mello’s group. Or how there was an actual good explanation as to how Near figured out it was Mikami... something the anime didn’t do. Really wish these were put in haha...haha..ha. 😔
How Near realise that its Mikami?
@@sonixka257
" Near realised that mikami is X Kira in a logical manor. He deduced X Kira appointed takada as spokes person as light was being observed by aizawa at the time. Thus he looked into people takada spoke with on tv, he homes in on mikami as he appeared on tv shortly after killing demigawa to ask permission to appoint another spokes person. Hence the part where he said on the tape "I want to hear from Kira again". It's meant to be a hidden message to Light, he goes on to say somthing about taking action if he doesn't hear Kira's words soon. Anyway Near realised that mikiami was trying to communicate with Kira via the show and when he got no answer he appointed Takada. After that he had Mikami watched and his suspicions were confrimed when Mikami appeared to use the notebook."

No, not really
Rog What? I’m just going to ignore that you said Monster is too old to watch because that is dumbest thing I heard. You know Monster is done by MadHouse who also did Death Note and if you think it’s first 20 episodes is too slow than Monster is not for you. That’s a shame because Monster is a masterpiece.
ppl who said death note is "amazing/masterpiece" but angry with the end and say that its wrong miss the whole point of death note, the author himself saying that the most important thing is no one/human can play "god" which exactly what light/kira exactly right after he kill with death note, his "good plan" is gone, his "true nature" as a "psychopath narcistic god complex murderer" showed up with death note,u know exactly like the phrase "money show the real out of person" in this case, its the death note aka "power".
if u pay attention the whole death note is basically showing what human is,how pityfull human is,thats why ryuk always laughing at human, just look at every single death, every single one of them is just because 1 mistake, yeah only take 1 mistake to lead ppl to their "downfall/death",ray penber being reckless when he supposed to stalking a suspect, naomi when she still let her guard down,L(ryuzaki) with being so focused on his ego instead of his "priority" that he forgot that shinigami never on his side and can betray anyone if they want, and one that the most pathetic one is light/kira defeat/lose which is because he is too arrogant that everything will be "perfect" that he forgot that he and his "friend" is still HUMAN.
in the end near showing what normal human is,he is lacking many thing, not even close to light or L,but he still trying look at other instead of being arrogant, which is lead to his victory, imagine if near like kira(light) and didnt check/follow mikami for the second time?? sure he will be lose,no everyone will lose,so all of u saying near win is BS are missing the whole point why death note is a masterpiece.
death note is a masterpiece where a unique concept, non classic battle shounen with complex theme and interesting character using an "op weapon(death note)" BUT did not make the "person" who use death note itself unbeatable/OP.
Most ppl dislike the ending because L died early, I don't think it had anything to do with the overarching theme.

Well said.
Its crazy seeing Light reflecting on his actions and regretting what he had done
Did he tho? Doesnt seem like thats the case at all. He doesnt regret what he did. He believes what he is doing is a necessary evil and that he is bringing peace to the world. If anything he doesnt want to die
He realized he was cocky and kinda wanted to die cause at first his plan was to help others not himself...the book power and worship changed him...he regretted it he made mistakes..was it right to change the justice of the world if you only did because of that numbness to it all and boredom and wanting it to change but you do bad things yourself becoming what you seek to destroy....not sure
This anime is a masterpiece.

The author stated that he did not want light to make a mistake, he wanted Mikami to be the one to screw up
And near was actually not suppose to win in the end, it was actually originally mello who would be the victor but it was changed last
Minute
near cheated
@@meeeeeeeee8249 no he did not their is to much evidence against this, you can look at the rules of the death note to find out that this would be impossible, and even if it wasn’t near still would not cheat
@@Thetopnoobpro he actually did he changed the death note papers
he cheated
@@meeeeeeeee8249 I do not classify that as cheating, and also light yagami allowed him to do it, its just light Yagami thought near switched the pages for the fake notebook not the real one. And near did not cheat because light wanted him to replace the pages but only on the fake one not the real one but that does not mean he cheated.
The game was that near needed to get solid evidence on light yagami without killing them or writing their names in the death note to confess, because they consider this a lost and not actual proof who Kira was
And for light to win he has to kill everybody and make sure his identity is not caught.
@@Thetopnoobpro bro why wont u just face the facts

death note is so complex it’s such a work of art definitely a masterpiece.
as for what happened to misa, it was never revealed in the series. ohba stated that this was because he didn’t have a situation to put her in; following the manga’s end, ohba speculated that after someone “like matsuda” let it slip that light died, misa fell into deep depression and despair and “committed suicide... something like that”. her death date is given as slightly over a year after light’s.
