Love the subtle roar of Air Force cargo air craft. The C-17 is certainly my most favorite aircraft. Fell in love with it when it took off on a deployment and sent my pack up the tail end and then sliding back when we leveled off. And also when I was at Altus AFB doing a tactical communications exercise right at the end of the flight line. I love that sound.
@ashishyadav0007 actually its because these are cargo aircraft which have a large ramp in the rear that folds down, so it has to have a tall " T " tail structure to accomodate the loading ramp, it has nothing to do with weight or aerodynamics, it would be impossible to have a ramp without a T-tail
@brent07 the c-17 is a much newer aircraft with much more efficient, quieter engines. The c-5 on the other hand is from the 60s and 70s and has first generation G.E. high bypass ratio turbofans, engine technology has come a long way since the c-5 entered service
There would be times where you would see them lining up to land just these distant lights, and then they would all come in and the roar of the thrust reversers would let you know they were going to wheel stop for the night.
@ashishyadav0007 it all comes down to aerodynamic forces and weight load involved. take the C-17 for example, the requirments of this aircraft are extreme - it has to take-off and land from small airfields with high loads, so all structures have to be strong and big. hope that helps

Nice takeoff by 3 c17 Globemasters great sound of those engines
wow..!!!
great one..! thanks for posting..!!
Woooh, just wondering when the C-17 takes off do they leave the parking brakes on. Then throttle to 100% then leave it charging once enough release?

Cloud of dust! lovely to see 3 C17s take off

WAIT NOW HOW COME YOU DID NOT GET THE C5 TAKING OFF
@tranceaddict704 The C-5M Super Galaxy has new GE engines that make it quieter, more efficient and more powerful though
can anyone please tell me why these big military planes have so tall tail wing ?
@Matty B
70 kilometers east of down town Vancouver
Sweet c-5 overshadows c-17 in the foreground
Man, was it ever hot that day!
wow that exact Plane the first one did an airshow here on the 7th I can tell it was the same due to the number on the nose.
Nice video!! C-5 WAS NEXT!!
Where is Abbotsford? England?
Canada
Not that loud compared to that roar of the C-5. look at the video response. C-5 is a screamer!
@SkyWestCRJPilot I'd want a yoke :)
good
CAF looks better than USAF (i am american!)
