There are videos on UA-cam showing retics roaming around the house next to young children, dogs and cats to show how tame and harmless they are yet you can be sure if it hadn't eaten in a while it could easily have the cat for dinner. Also if you follow the rule that the snake length should not exceed the length plus depth of the cage then for an 18ft snake that's at least a 12 X 6 Viv so as not to keep it in cruel cramped conditions. There should always be a second person present when dealing with these animals and I think BOTH people should be highly experienced. Glad to see a video highlighting the seriousness of keeping these magnificent beasts!
‘ Waiting for them would be like trying to plat piss’ is the very reason, I listen to you over a lot of people Chaz you tell it like it is. I’m no where near the level of retic keeping I’m intermediate at best but jeez what a beautifully powerful creature
Great video. I agree with so much that you said, everything really. I love the industry, I've had balls, Colombian red tails, an Argentine rainbow and will be getting my first burm at an expo in April. Super excited! But, I've wondered about the ethics of all the breeding, producing far more big snakes than the market can handle. With they way the laws are going here in US, this over production and subsequent consequences (ie umprepared/irresponsible owners getting hurt & snakes being released) is really hurting the hobby. I live in South Georgia just above the Florida line. We have lots of swampy, wet lands and a semi tropical climate. We've started hearing of wild burmese popping up in South Georgia and North Florida. I have always loved reptiles, especially large constrictors. And I watch a lot of youtube videos about them. You are the first dealer I've heard address the ethics of so much breeding and generic "tom-foolery" (nice lol) as well as taking steps to not contribute to the problem, perhaps at even a financial loss to yourself. For that my hats off to you guys, sir! Great video. I subscribed immediately. Thank you for being passionate, dedicated and well researched prior to doing your videos. Can't say it enough, great video! Cheers!

Well said dude. I agree with every single word. I am a snake keeper with 20 years experience and I have only just taken the plunge and got my first retic.
What will end up happening is that someone will be killed by a retic and then they will just be banned outright. Great vid, and excellent ethical argument. Well done.
I agree completely. I have a male goldenchild who has a lovely temprament but was territorial in a very large enclosure i built for him, so i moved him back into his old 8 ft tank and he calmed down straight away. A noob would have been shredded in that situation. My boas now live in the big enclosure, Lol
Well it was 8 wide, 4 deep and 6 high, i kept a Burmese in the same for eighteen years without problem, but Retics are naturally territorial in the wild so i think they need an enclosure that they consider a hide, rather than space they feel compelled to defend. The main reason i like larger vivs is i can hose out the floors into the bathing pool which drain into a bucket for easy cleaning. i hate scraping elephant size dumps out of the vivarium he"s in now.
Grate views and bang on the mark ...Ive been keeping reptiles since I was 11 years old , I’m now 35 and have a sound knowledge on keeping versus different speeches , I’d go 1 step further and put the retics and burms on a dwa ...sorry if this upsets some people but I’ve been part of a rescue service for the last 15 years , and the state these snakes get in to is disgusting, as adults there almost impossible to re-home , also wouldn’t trust a retic as far as I could throw it ! Always treat them with the upmost respect , glad to hear as a shop your stopping retailing them , anyway grate vid 👍🏻👍🏻
Binge watching your videos over the last few days... huge thanks for the time, effort and knowledge you put into the vids, they are superb. Sadly, common sense isn’t that common in our hobby, or life in general 😉
I really agree about the amount of space these types snakes need. I think they need a whole room if possible with places to hide, then climb, then soak in, and warmth. I'm not sure what substrate is good for them though. It's gonna be a room you'll have to enter from time to time for cleaning. They'll need food the size of a dog or a pig. I don't think releasing them in the wild is gonna give an invasive species issue in my place. They're local species in my country. It's just mortifying to see my own people, who SHOULD know more about these animals, keeping them in places that's just bare cement.
Great video. I agree completely with the video. Just curious as to what you think is enough experience with boas or other intermediate snakes? I appreciate your time

It's really good to see a responsible talk about these snakes. Thanks.
"If it has a bad day your in a world of trouble. " Great line. That's why I'm looking for a dwarf Burmese. Please do a video on carpets one day.

Amazing video
Excellent subject matter.
Excellent video guys. Really good advice
We just try to be truthful mate, too much hiding the truth goes on. I dont think glorification of this species is helpful.
green anacondas and reticulated pythons are only for dedicated extremely experienced snake keepers
