I think Windu should've explained to those who he taught Vaapad to what it entails. Not just the form and the movements, but also that it requires one's heart and a mastery of one's own inner darkness.

The way the form is described; it sounds like the Jedi would be better served if Mace only gave any of those he taught the form the basic understanding of what the form's intent was, and the most basic of the movements. Perhaps that way, by using it to make the other jedi or otherwise unaffiliated light side aligned duelists use it to address some kind of inner conflict like the one Mace had, it could allow them to walk the edge of the Dark Side and remain in control. The Dark Side has more dimensions than just anger; so I think the problem was that the other practitioners had other kinds of issues than the one Mace developed Vaapad to address, and by learning the whole style, they opened themselves up to the Dark Side on a level that only Mace Windu could get that close to without falling into it.
I will say Vaapad as been something I’ve always wanted to learn more about because it’s always begged a question I’ve always had in my mind on why Windu created it and why the Jedi let it become an official form because of its dangers of falling to the dark side it was just simply to dangerous for other Jedi because they didn’t have the personal attachment to it like Windu so they couldn’t learn it properly without falling so it’s just a very interesting discussion in my opinion keep
Yeah know it just occurred to me. I think the best way to master Vapaad and not fall to the Dark Side is to come up with your own variant. That way it's personal to you and you alone. That way you won't fall.
I think you are missing the point. Vaapad uses emotion etc, and the emotion is what opens one up to the dark side. Creating a personal style wouldnt change the fact that the individual would be open to emotion before the form was mastered. The saber forms arent created and instantly mastered after 15 minutes of brainstorming.

Gotta say, it sounds so much like an understanding of the dark side, how it tempts and how to defeat it was never taught by the Jedi and that allowed so many to not be able to deal with their own internalized issues. They spent so much time saying to never use the dark side but never how to not let the dark side use yourself. Feels like another failing of the Jedi.
I have a dream (or nightmare) that buildings on Coruscant are really tall. Plenty of time for someone falling to use the Force and slow their own bodyweight before the splat at the bottom. I imagine getting betrayed, losing a hand, getting zapped and feeling the loss of the entire Jedi Order would change a man. So if that same man were to heal, get a cyborg hand and return over time, would they still try to use Vaapad? If so, would all those life-changing experiences be tempered by willpower to maintain the light, or descend into the Darkside? C'mon you all know you wanna see a dark-clad Mace in the shadows lol. Mace Windu was a grand master in my opinion in which his vaapad form was formidable to defeat darth Sidious the most powerful Sith lord..it was only fitting the form went with Master Windu.
If Luke did know Vaapad it might've been a variant that applied his inner peace to counter the dark side rather that bringing his volatile emotions to the edge, or it could be that great minds think alike I'm a fan of the former.
It's not even debatable. George Lucas himself said Mace Windu straight-up defeated Palpatine/Lord Sidious and Palpatine/Lord Sidious isn't losing to no Jedi Knight on purpose (ridiculous). Now as a Last Ditch Effort to have Anakin help him from losing/being killed. Yes. Look no Darkside User and probably Jedi Knight can defeat Mace Windu using Full Power Vaapad within a duel. My 3rd favorite Jedi of all time and one of the most powerful right behind Luke and Yoda. Windu would have reached much greater heights if he had an approach to the force comparable to someone like Qui Gonn. His own self mastery makes him an exceptionally unshakable Jedi but he was too in love with codes and rules. As for Vaapad I feel like certain requirements such as a higher level Jedi trial should be in place for Jedi to attain certain secrets such as Vaapad
I think one of the things most people are glossing over is that Mace WIndu's contempt for the Darkness he sensed in himself is how he was able to master the Vaapad. The form harnessed the darkness and allowed him to use it to further the Jedi's goals, which he saw as an insult to the darkness.
I'd actually like to see a video that does a more in-depth look at the seven forms of lightsaber combat. Who created each one? Why did they make it? What were the intentions behind it and who was the true official master of it?

On the one hand, it's cool how it went, and I'm glad it got to keep some of its mystique; it would have been boring if it had become the most prevalent form, or if numerous people had picked it up, but it's also too bad, because I liked how, at least in some ways, it showed the acceptance of the Dark, and that itcwas there, and SUPPOSED to be there. It's obviously important to master your own inner darkness, and keep it from dominating everything you do, but it is also an innate part of you, and better accepted, and accounted for, than just denied, and repressed. I wasn't as happy about the slippery slope scenario Vapaad became, where as soon as you allow it to help you, the Dark Side becomes evil, and corrupts you. It also takes a little away from the Sith, as it then looks less like them doing something with the Dark Side that is unique to them, and instead just seems to be what happens to anyone who let's it in, at all, even though it is an integral part of the Force.
Mace W has no patience and is quick to condemn anything related to the darkside. Which means he has no experience in teaching people how to control their own darkside.
That should be true, but the movements alone couldnt really be used to train someone. The whole channeling his inner darkness thing was the important part.
I have to 100% disagree with S.W. on this one, there are a lot of assumptions without any proof. We don't know what year Mace created vaapad and how long he practiced it before the clone wars. Every swordsman writes notes to ensure he stays on the right track. Windu's holocron has not been discovered, who knows what secrets are on it. I believe Vos was using juyo when he fell to the darkside, because Mace told Sora he switched back to juyo after his fall. Vaapad users cannot use their full anger to fuel the style in my opinion. Different martial arts arm blocks can look the same, but the principles and execution can be totally different. I believe the key to vaapad and the reason why Windu never felt to the darkside was discipline. Both Sora and Depa fell to the darkside because they tried to overpower the situation they were in. However, Mace stops fighting and let the will of the force take place.
I agree wirh you. Mace had an abnormally high level of self discipline that allowed him to master the form and not succumb to the lure of the dark side. And truth be told, even Mace is starting to lose his mind towards the end of the clone wars. That is why he acted so quickly to take out Sidious instead of waiting for Yoda and others to return.

No, because the Jedi are not a perfect reflection of the force, and were never meant to be. His turn to the dark side would be near impossible because he would channel that Innate part of him as the embodiment of the force into vaapad. As we know the Jedi suppressed that natural part of him. Since he is pretty much Ying and yang Jesus, suppression of one side didn’t go so well as we all know.

Mace really was one of the greatest force users of that era. Palpatine was close to his mortality in that 1 vs 1 light sabre dual. And he knew it. Let’s not forget Sidious was the end result of a 1000 years of dark side training. And a real bad ass.
Mace was very powerful.....yes. But I dont think that fight alone is 100% proof of his standing. He literally had the cheat code to beat Sidious. Just like Luke having the only cheat code to turn Vader back. Luke "won" the encounter, but was an inferior duelist at the time.

Have you (random person reading this) watched a cat hunting? Usually hunting a toy, because cats have domesticated us. They’re sneak and a bush hunters. They get ready to jump, their but rises a bit, the tail starts twitching… and then they attack. Once we got better weapons, humans started ambush hunting, but it’s always a tranquil practice. With cats, at the risk of being crude, the closest thing humans have to it is an orgasm. Build up tension until you can’t NOT do the thing. It is, in either case, an act of passion. I think that Vapaad would've worked if Mace had taught the concept behind it and much like Shigure Soen Ryu from Katekyo Hitman Reborn, the form had many different variations due to the users all contributing their own personal touch to the form. It could've been a form that changed depending on the user with the basics being the same for everyone who used it
My thoughts .... ,looking at these scenes on this video , the 2d Animation is vastly superior to the live action . The 2d Mace Windu scene ,in the first Clone Wars, is still one of the most Bad Ass moments in all Star Wars. The live action scenes with the actors are very sad to look at.

Mace would have had a hard time doing this. The form had been around for thousands of years. He is notable for perfecting it without turning to the dark side. So admittedly unperfected training books 📚would be all over the galaxy. So I’d argue stopping teaching it would be way more dangerous

I doubt that Vaapad is dead. Just because Windu didn't record it, leaves one to think that one of the others might have. So, there may be a holocron out there of it.
I think Windu was largely wrong to try to destory Vaapad, yes his fears of the form were real but it was dodging the problem just like forbiding attements not solving it, Jedi should be taught to use Vaapad but only used against powerful dark siders. Windu is such an interesting case because it was meant to answer his weakness if he had used forms 3, 4 and 5 as base for his Vaapad the form could be more user friendly.
Now I know there is a lot debate over Mace honestly win or Darth Sidous throw it but I honestly think the true is somewhere in the middle. Sidous throw it away because he understood that Vaapad with Windu was more dangerous then he originaly thought and if did go on he would have lost for real. He also got really lucky that Anakin arrived sooner then he hoped.
Luke probably understood Vapaad but didn't really use it. He didn't have the strong Dark Side streak that Mace or Anakin had. He was even tempered like Obi-Wan.
Definitely too dangerous for clone wars jedi, maybe even Luke’s students, but I think Anakin, Luke, and Leia could’ve used it very effectively without falling. It might’ve actually helped Anakin stay in the light. Ultimately, I think they form came far too late

I have to 100% disagree with S.W. on this one, there are a lot of assumptions without any proof. We don't know what year Mace created vaapad and how long he practiced it before the clone wars. Every swordsman writes notes to ensure he stays on the right track. Windu's holocron has not been discovered, who knows what secrets are on it. I believe Vos was using juyo when he fell to the darkside, because Mace told Sora he switched back to juyo after his fall. Vaapad users cannot use their full anger to fuel the style in my opinion. Different martial arts arm blocks can look the same, but the principles and execution can be totally different. I believe the key to vaapad and the reason why Windu never felt to the darkside was discipline. Both Sora and Depa fell to the darkside because they tried to overpower the situation they were in. However, Mace stops fighting and let the will of the force take place.
I agree wirh you. Mace had an abnormally high level of self discipline that allowed him to master the form and not succumb to the lure of the dark side.
And truth be told, even Mace is starting to lose his mind towards the end of the clone wars. That is why he acted so quickly to take out Sidious instead of waiting for Yoda and others to return.

No, because the Jedi are not a perfect reflection of the force, and were never meant to be. His turn to the dark side would be near impossible because he would channel that Innate part of him as the embodiment of the force into vaapad. As we know the Jedi suppressed that natural part of him. Since he is pretty much Ying and yang Jesus, suppression of one side didn’t go so well as we all know.

Mace really was one of the greatest force users of that era. Palpatine was close to his mortality in that 1 vs 1 light sabre dual. And he knew it. Let’s not forget Sidious was the end result of a 1000 years of dark side training. And a real bad ass.

But I dont think that fight alone is 100% proof of his standing. He literally had the cheat code to beat Sidious.

I think that Vapaad would've worked if Mace had taught the concept behind it and much like Shigure Soen Ryu from Katekyo Hitman Reborn, the form had many different variations due to the users all contributing their own personal touch to the form. It could've been a form that changed depending on the user with the basics being the same for everyone who used it

Vaapad wasn't for the Clone Wars Jedi, I believe. Old Republic Jedi and Master Skywalker's Jedi Academy might have been able to wield it, though.

Mace would have had a hard time doing this. The form had been around for thousands of years. He is notable for perfecting it without turning to the dark side. So admittedly unperfected training books 📚would be all over the galaxy. So I’d argue stopping teaching it would be way more dangerous

I doubt that Vaapad is dead. Just because Windu didn't record it, leaves one to think that one of the others might have. So, there may be a holocron out there of it.
I think Windu was largely wrong to try to destory Vaapad, yes his fears of the form were real but it was dodging the problem just like forbiding attements not solving it, Jedi should be taught to use Vaapad but only used against powerful dark siders. Windu is such an interesting case because it was meant to answer his weakness if he had used forms 3, 4 and 5 as base for his Vaapad the form could be more user friendly.
Now I know there is a lot debate over Mace honestly win or Darth Sidous throw it but I honestly think the true is somewhere in the middle. Sidous throw it away because he understood that Vaapad with Windu was more dangerous then he originaly thought and if did go on he would have lost for real. He also got really lucky that Anakin arrived sooner then he hoped.
Luke probably understood Vapaad but didn't really use it. He didn't have the strong Dark Side streak that Mace or Anakin had. He was even tempered like Obi-Wan.

Definitely too dangerous for clone wars jedi, maybe even Luke’s students, but I think Anakin, Luke, and Leia could’ve used it very effectively without falling. It might’ve actually helped Anakin stay in the light. Ultimately, I think they form came far too late

I have always hated windus fight with palpatine because it is just so slow and with no skill between either of them
Which is WHY Yoda WAS the best choice as the OVERALL Grandmaster... He WASN'T honestly an absolute Master of Masters after all. An way too try to hide your flaws an mistakes IF assuming he went through the trouble to MAKE a form BUT instead of PERFECTING it like a True Master SHOULD have done went an destroy it .. thats like murdering your own child, there goes your Legacy an possible contribution to Society. An not to mention he didnt pass on critical secrets like Darkside Resisting an HOW Other Jedi SHOULD ALSO Master THEIR Darkside too .. OTHERWISE theyd been successes or least had some working form of it.. Mace failed here. Even better if perfected it BUT then make it a form that PULLS Force users to at LEAST a balanced Middle Ground an AWAY from Darkness. Then went an had Jedi Learn it thatd then benefitted like Quenlin or even Anakin to pull them away from the Darkside.

Mace Windu should have been the Grand Master and should have stayed no matter what people said. and if I'm being honest He should have trained Anakin Skywalker along with some other Jedi and show him his forbidden lightsaber form. As well as his Forbidden Force power. Because purple is a mix of blue and red light and dark. That's the meaning of the purple lightsaber in Canon.
