Hey fam just a heads up for this episode. We do NOW know about Raine being non-binary and using they/them pronouns. At the time we were not aware, and I (Top left) was the only one reading chat which is why I corrected myself. The rest of Nani no Anime was not reading chat as we generally don't to avoid spoilers. The episode also didn't help and at least to us made it very confusing. The subtitles on Disney+ S2 Episode 8 at 10:35 also misgendered Raine as well by saying "stop pushing him away" and every time Raine was referred to as 'THEY' there was more than just them on the screen which caused a lot of confusion for us. We all do our absolute best to make sure we use Raine's proper pronouns and correct ourselves and one another for any mistakes after this point. Anyone who has been a longtime community member knows we are supportive when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community but we also know that some of y'all are new or don't know us and this is your first introduction to us. 25:34 Exactly. As I like to say, if kids are too young to be exposed to LGBT+ relationships or characters they're too young to be exposed to cishet ones too.
Speaking of LBGTQ+ characters, did anyone get a good look on the wiki site on what Edric's love interest looks like? Emira mentioned one being a non-binary character from the other episode, which suggests Edric being an LGBTQA+ character himself, but I think I missed a pic or two because I don't see any signs of that character at all. So unless if he's either a bi like Luz or gay like his sister Amity, I'm hoping it's a misinterpretation of what Emira said about him.

I was exposed to lgbtq relationships by Steven universe, and honestly.. it’s really not that bad, it just shows they’re people who genuinely love eachother just like any straight relationship. Im appreciative of lgbtq representation because it really made me understand the feelings people go through when they feel they may be gay, sapphic, non-binary, or trans.. Though when I was 7 I made all my characters non-binary because I didn’t want to decide their gender (and that was before I even knew non-binary was an actual thing lmao)..

Two beefy episodes so I have to split my thoughts up. Eda's Requiem: What a gut punch of emotion this episode was. Eda has quite the past, and emotional turmoil, Raine is the perfect example of why bards are awesome, and seeing eda's reaction to King taking the clawthorne name is heartwarming. Knocking on Hooty's Door: Mission failed successfully Hooty. Everyone came out of that episode for the better though certainly not the way anyone would have liked to do it. Revalations and Relations abound. Edit: Also I like the way that Eda and her curse are attached to each other by the classic Red string of fate
With how Hooty formed a heart around them, I always wonder if the whole thing was an act. Like how much was real and what was planned? Like his final tantrum just happens to form a heart shaped depression for them to confess in.
39:20 - So from what I understand of Dana's posts they got cancelled just before the Grom episode aired (S1Ep16). But obviously execs would have the storyboards and pre-release material ahead of time. But initially it wasn't just a shortened season 3 it was supposed to be a full on cancellation, except Dana fought for it tooth n nail to get at least a finish. So yeah season 2 they already knew for the most part that it will get shortened. 40:00 - The show did change a lot from Dana's initial pitch. She wanted the Boiling Isles to be Hell proper, or at least referred to as such, but that had to be changed. She wanted Luz to be older and have a baseball bat, Hexside school wasn't really a thing initially...a lot changed, Disney didn't seem to like the show from concept level already. It skews too old for them and they prefer episodic shows rather than ones with overarching plots. Some people give Disney the benefit of doubt that it wasn't the LGBT rep that got them cancelled, Dana did so initially too, though she questioned that after the whole fiasco with Disney funding politicians in Florida that supported the whole 'Don't say gay bill'. But yeah there's more reasons why Disney didn't like the Owl House. It's just dumb that they didn't move it to Disney+ instead of shortening it.

Season two was actually greenlit before season one aired. Disney usually does that with all their cartoons for some reason. There’s only been two or three that have ever made it to a fourth season, so if you’re making a Disney cartoon then you can basically count on three seasons being all you get. Dana (the show’s creator) mentioned they got the cancellation news in late 2020, during the production of season 2. It’s been confirmed since that they did change aspects of it for that reason. They were originally planning for “at least 10 episodes” with season three, and got the equivalent of six. Apparently, she wasn’t even a part of the discussion and some kind folks at the studio fought on her behalf to get any season three episodes at all.
Hooty's Door is definitely the episode where I went from "I Like the Show Its fun " to "I LOVE this show so freaking much with my entire soul and I want more of it injected in my body".

RAINE!! Finally! My precious bean made an appearance, yes! Glad you finally know them ^^ Also.. Hooty is pretty sneaky, haha.. nice to have them finally together :)
I’m glad that the guy on the top left stopped misgendering Raine but the guy on the bottom right was bothering me. Raine does use They/Them pronouns it is confirmed and this is Disney’s first ever Non-binary character and Raine’s voice actor is also no binary so please be respectful and use the correct pronouns.
@@kaileychambers6969 Also Disney just gets it wrong period, like a certain later line will be mislabeled "kill him" while the actual word is inifnintely tamer
The reason why I (guy on the top left) stopped was because I was monitoring chat so I saw them correct us. We generally don’t read chat during the reactions so the rest of the crew didn’t see. Everyone knows and did their best from this point on to make sure we all referred to Raine as their proper pronouns. But yea this ep was confusing at first but happy people let us know 🙏
So... is absolutely nobody going to acknowledge the fact that Hooty was legitimately trying to kill himself there? That was so terrifying and heartbreaking I just.. can barely watch this part...
The way Raine shot up my list of not only favorite TOH characters but characters in general- seriously they're so awesome. I can't decide if I want to be them or date them 🤣
I want to think that this episode was like four episodes combined because they were crunched for time they had to shorten each episode into the short stories of Hootie helping and I think it was genius I don't know for sure that's what happened but it feels that way because all of these could have had some story behind them to increase the time
Poor Eda was making peace with taking her own life in a sxxcide pact with Raine. Thank goodness they snapped her out of it and helped her realize that Luz & King still need her. For those who don’t know, Eda’s curse is a metaphor for a chronic illness. Life with a chronic illness can be incredibly taxing, and I’d be lying if I said I’d never felt the way Eda did, from time to time. Feelings of being a burden to your friends and family are very common for sufferers. The need to get medication (elixirs), or cancelling plans last minute due to a flare or fatigue are a dime a dozen. That’s another factor that’s never really discussed, how illness affects not just the sufferer’s life, bu the lives of their relationships. The next episode even shows that while Eda & Raine were trying to hit it off, she kept pushing them away anytime the stress of taking the next step in their relationship caused the disease/curse to flare up. I can really appreciate how realistic the depiction of dealing with a chronic illness is, even in the show’s fantasy setting.
So far you are the only one who has noticed or at least expressed what eda was going to do, the closest I've seen is people thinking that the two only noticed at the last second what was going to happen and were going to make peace with it instead of it being a pact they had planned on previously
They: i didint expect the turn in this show. Me: you are for a full thing. The colectibe no at the final was hilarius but guys by prepared for the next episodes
I hope you'll catch on on Raine being non-binary and using they/them. It IS canon, and confirmed by the creator, but also they're referred to as them multiple times. It's not a spoiler, it's just a part of the character, them being non-binary is not part of a character arc, it just is, the same way other characters are casually queer.
We know and as soon as it was made aware to us we corrected ourselves. Between the vagueness of when they were referring g to raine and the mistake in the subtitles made by Disney it was extremely confusing. All we can ask is that y’all correct us if we make a mistake and we correct ourselves
@@shayneoshaughnessy2471 As I stated the subtitles said "he". The times Raine was referred to as they was when their was more than one person on screen. This caused confusion and we corrected after this video. If you would like you can go back and rewatch the episode on Disney+ and you will see when the subtitles midgendered them
@@sortastupid it didn't do that for me when i watched it on disney+, im wondering if they changed it which i wouldn't be surprised coming from disney. i understand getting confused by that but if one person was using correct pronouns, why not everyone use them? it just comes off as weird. as a trans person if someone didn't know my pronouns and used the wrong ones and someone else used the correct ones in front of them and that person still continued to misgender me i would be upset.
@@shayneoshaughnessy2471 Maybe they updated it but we had quite a few people in chat confirm its an issue. If you check S2 Episode 8 at 10:35 you will see the wrong subs. But honestly you right knowing Disney they probably did change it Unfortunetly. When it comes to the pronoun thing I personally was referring to Raine as they/them (because I read chat) but you have to remember that Raine was pretty much always with another person when they were on screen. So the other guys in NNA would not have realized I was referring to Raine and assumed I was referring to the group. Just an honest mistake. We are trying and mistakes will happen. All we can ask is that y'all see we are trying
it was never said in the show but it was word-of-god confirmed that eda is in her mid 40s (and raine is the same age as her and lilith is 2 years older). so raine didn't age particularly well, eda just looks older than she actually is. ALSO in the hiatus between episodes 10 and 11, dana and some other crew members did a big charity livestream (basically, disney had been donating a LOT of money to honophobic politicians and she wanted to do what she could to counteract that and raise money for lgbtq charities). in it, there were 3 canon, fully voice acted audio recordings. one of them is lilith's response to hooty's letter (we also get a diary entry from luz and and some palisman observations from hunter). it's just some fun bonus content, so you're probably just gonna wanna listen to them when you watch all the bonus shorts. i'm just mentioning them here because, despite being canon/direct from the shows creators and fully voice acted, they probably won't be listed alongside all the other bonus content, because nothing about that stream was approved or licensed by disney. plenty of people uploaded them to youtube, though.
I (guy on the top right) was the only one reading chat. The rest of the crew wasn’t aware during these sets of videos as the show misgendered them in the subtitles and only referred to raine as “they” when there was multiple people on screen. Unfortunately everyone isn’t psychic an d sometimes we need to be corrected. All we can ask is if we make a mistake y’all correct us and we make that adjustment.

the official reason it was cancelled was bc of a new boss at disney, specifically in the tv animation department, and for some reason new bosses think the best thing to do is cancel shows :|
so *_officially_* , nothing to do with luz and amity
I love hooty HES SUCH A FREAKING TROLL LOL
25:14 is like perfect harmony.
When people react to these episodes my heart just feels with happiness
I just woke up, checked notifications, and ZOOMED AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT TO THIS VIDEO
Hooty eating the mail.
Me: HOOTY YOU MOTHERFU!!
When i tell you i clicked SO fast. I’ve been waiting for this all week yet forgot it was Tuesday :/
Lol same I havent pressed play but I know this is gonna be good ♥
LOL SAMEE
2:26 That's Soos's palisman
The collective jaw drop when the older looking King shows up was gold
the way i refreshed my tab for an hour for this
"How to force them to interact? I'm going to kidnap her!" that's how I've met my parents =D
You kidnapped your parents?
30:00
I just can't woth this, you guys had me craking up 😂😂
RAINE!! Finally! My precious bean made an appearance, yes! Glad you finally know them ^^
Also.. Hooty is pretty sneaky, haha.. nice to have them finally together :)
Raine is such a top tier character
Can we talk about how Raine was absolutely on board with the ride or die approach until the photo came out? Like they were *ready*
25:07 this is cursed, but these reactions are golden
I have been waiting for these 2 episodes for so long, but this will be so awesome!
Hooty is the perfect troll, and for that I can only thank him
I’m glad that the guy on the top left stopped misgendering Raine but the guy on the bottom right was bothering me. Raine does use They/Them pronouns it is confirmed and this is Disney’s first ever Non-binary character and Raine’s voice actor is also no binary so please be respectful and use the correct pronouns.
The subtitles apprently used he/him so fucking disney
Yeah that really bothered me the whole time too. It seems so disrespectful to the character and the creators ignoring their real pronouns.
@@kaileychambers6969 Also Disney just gets it wrong period, like a certain later line will be mislabeled "kill him" while the actual word is inifnintely tamer
It was driving me nuts 😭
I can't decide if I want to be them or date them 🤣
Ep 8 was really so good..❣️
Hooty was *so* close to being helpful...and then he ate King's letter...;)
I'm convinced the worm at the end of the intro is just a detention worm that's fed a lot better.
I love seeing them come up with theories when I’ve watched the entire series. Because I’m like doing the hoody smug face
Same
I’m hyped for the week after episode 9 and 10 because oh boy it’s gonna be spicy
This just makes Hooty as my no.1 fav character
i have been refreshing your channel literally everyday waiting for this you have no clue✨✨✨
Me constantly in depressed mode the guys just casually bringing up every owl house character having depression for the last few episodes
Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived at *Hooty the god*
Best Wingman award goes to Hooty
Star vs The Forces of Evil has like the most relationship combos I have ever seen
It's like Deadpool Sensei once said, the best way to get the girl of your dreams is to kidnap her. Also kill any romantic rivals.
Eda is not that old, she is even younger than Lilith, but her hair change because of the curse
eda looks older than raine bc of her curse but they're actually the same age
MAN, I've been waiting ALL WEEK FOR THIS! 😁
I want to think that this episode was like four episodes combined because they were crunched for time they had to shorten each episode into the short stories of Hootie helping and I think it was genius I don't know for sure that's what happened but it feels that way because all of these could have had some story behind them to increase the time
30:13 yeah guys we all had the same reaction and thought, damn it hooty
Is it just me or do I find Eda super attractive 😭
Nope. My Brother has a huge crush on her, & he's married 😆
I never thought, that a hooty episode, is going to be a Lumity episode…
"King's growing wings"
The next episode
*adulte king with wings"
Knock Knock Knockin' on Hooty's Door is by far my favorite episode.
I'd been SO looking forward to seeing you guys react to episode 8 ^^
Love this video and Raine is non binary and goes by they/them
Poor Eda was making peace with taking her own life in a sxxcide pact with Raine.
They address this in the pinned comment!
@@karmacean I commented before they pinned that comment, just really wanted to make sure they're aware, thanks anyway tho!
Eu tava esperando tanto por esse vídeo
Meu Deus o sofrimento que é a espera pela terça-feira😭
Raine goes by they/them as a non binary person that’s extremely important to me
We know and as soon as it was made aware to us we corrected ourselves. Between the vagueness of when they were referring g to raine and the mistake in the subtitles made by Disney it was extremely confusing.
All we can ask is that y’all correct us if we make a mistake and we correct ourselves
@@sortastupid raine has only been referred to as they/them, even in this episode. it is easy to mishear "them" as "him" though.
16:35 You're right, it was thousands
Remember that pot plant that's going to be important for season finale
it was never said in the show but it was word-of-god confirmed that eda is in her mid 40s (and raine is the same age as her and lilith is 2 years older). so raine didn't age particularly well, eda just looks older than she actually is.
ALSO in the hiatus between episodes 10 and 11, dana and some other crew members did a big charity livestream (basically, disney had been donating a LOT of money to honophobic politicians and she wanted to do what she could to counteract that and raise money for lgbtq charities). in it, there were 3 canon, fully voice acted audio recordings. one of them is lilith's response to hooty's letter (we also get a diary entry from luz and and some palisman observations from hunter).
it's just some fun bonus content, so you're probably just gonna wanna listen to them when you watch all the bonus shorts. i'm just mentioning them here because, despite being canon/direct from the shows creators and fully voice acted, they probably won't be listed alongside all the other bonus content, because nothing about that stream was approved or licensed by disney. plenty of people uploaded them to youtube, though.
introducing THE BEST CHARACTER
Harpy Eda make me feel.... things.
Cubone learned screech!
You guys should watch Infinity Train! Amazing cartoon show.
ever since I first heard about their opinions on hooty, I have been dreaming for them to see episode 8
I’m glad the guy on the top left stopped misgendering Raine at least but the guy on the bottom right is bothering me.
@@sortastupidOmg I can’t believe you actually answered, I completely understand what you mean I was kind of confused too at first because of the captions. I just wanted to make sure you guys knew. I love your Owl House reactions and I really hope my comments didn’t come off as rude because that was not my intention.
@@gracielasoberon7045 no not at all we appreciate the heads up
The video we’ve aaaaaall been waiting for!! 🙌🏻😍🔆
Jesus christ. A character's pronouns not being explicitly explained in-show is not an excuse to knowingly and purposely to use the wrong pronouns... that shit hurts us irl enbies too, yknow?
yeah I think most of them just weren't picking up on it but the guy in the top left did start using the correct pronouns just wish he would've correct h man cuz he kept using he/him... (hopefully they'll realize for next episode tho cuz my guess is its just from being unaware, as most of them weren't reading chat as well)
Nobody purposely used the wrong pronouns
@@ruffsenpai they acknowledged the chat saying that Raine uses they/them pronouns. They then actively ignored that and continued to use he/him pronouns. Seems purposeful to me.
@@nerysstuart4210 I think Ruff is the only one who can see the chat , that's why the others don't know
@@nerysstuart4210 after Ruff reads the Chat , He did call Raine by they/them pronouns , he even told the others to call Raine they/them , but they got confused cuz Disney put the wrong subtitles for Raine
