I never get tired of watching him. Unbelievable. It looks so easy...
He doesn’t even look big. Or like he’s spinning that fast compared to today’s athletes. Crazy that his record still stands
I just love this video. The footage and replay with music is AWESOME. I have meet, thrown with and even had dinner with Yuri. THIS IS AMAZING!!! going to watch it a few more times :-) *****
Yuri was and will always be a true sporting legend.

Щасливий Моцарт молоту Юрій Сєдих!
Yuri was had the most perfect 3 turn technique the world has ever seen, did he take drugs? Almost definitely he was a part of the Soviet Olympic machine but in hammer that doesn't matter, plenty of men much bigger and much stronger have tried and failed to beat him, but hammer isn't that kind of sport. It requires perfect technique and accepts no less.
Drugs make a huge difference in hammer throw as well, being able to recover perfectly and feel the same every throwing session is a huge advantage
@@juggajiggawuggahemp You're not going to feel unfatigued/same after every throw but I get the point you're making. However there are many other factors including mental that has an input on the end result. Declared clean athletes are oft able to throw their biggest on their last throws. I don't disagree that PEDs enhance and have the ability to allow athletes to recover faster/train harder, however having technique in javelin, discus, hammer and shot makes a significant difference with like for like athlete. You only need look at Geoff Capes UK record of 21.68m, Whilst Capes was 6ft 6" he was far from being the most muscular but he was fast across the circle and had fantastic technique, he was also one of the few undoped top athletes of his era. But having that technique/speed and sustained training advantage with drugs does have a benefit of course
@@juggajiggawuggahempits funny how people always claim drugs when a record lasts more than 5 years.
one of my idols
ONE OF MY IDOLS AND HEROES IS MR SEDYKH. I WISHD IM FINNISH SEDYKH
it is weird how nobody hasnt bet it to this day he must of been really strong i nthe arms and legs to throw it that far great achievement on him
What if, just if, the event was throwing a standard framing hammer?

hi is my gym teacher in college xD
‘After Sedykh set his work record in Tallinn in 1986 we received his urine sample in Moscow. Even though I diluted it with distilled water at a 10:1 ratio, it still overloaded my gas chromatograph mass spectrometer with gigantic peaks of stanozolol metabolites’
I WISHD IM FINNISH YURI SEDKYH
I think a lot of today's Hammer coaches have lost plot and believe spinning like a lunatic marking one throw out of 6 is answer.
Yeah, it's also "weird" that there was not a single positive drug test in those Olympic Games...
