I love all that you do and all of your ideas for years. I’ve been Thrifting finding smalls like that that are broken. I find it a challenge to disguise it or incorporate it in my designs there’s times if it’s a Santa and his half of his heads off, I work with it and I make like a succulent planner out of it. It’s hilarious, I have a figurine with no arm/hand I have her standing next to a Christmas tree in my assemblages or something in the design to disguise where you really don’t notice. I’ve had some really neat vintage ceramic Christmas trees that the tops of course being pointed are going to crack and some didn’t even have much if the top , made snow caps, and made it look realistic with the glitter and so forth and you would think that the way it came. But I love doing that. I love the fun of it and you inspire me so much and to take on challenges I would’ve never thought I would do!😀
I think of all the years ago that things would end up in the dump somebody would break something and never even think about trying to restore it. The advantage we have now is we have UA-cam with talented people like you, Yvonne! And the availability of all the neat paint techniques and paints and stains That we can get online in the store so we can do these things because years ago when I started doing this, they just didn’t have much to work with, it was a lot of trial and error but we’re so fortunate now to have such great teachers and resources! Thank you for sharing your talent With us!
I am so happy to see you repair those pieces. I hate seeing pieces get passed over because of their brokenness. I know you have inspired some to rethink passing them up. You did a great job of breathing new life into them. Yay!
If it wasn't for you I'd be passing up a lot of brokenness. Your teaching has given me confidence to fix items that need some love. Thank you for all you do! Gotta love Tater! ❤
Repairs are a very lucrative thing and knowing your options and methods to do so is fantastic. You are awesome. Thanks! I think you inspire folks in so many ways.
I love what you do! It's amazing how you repair things. You've given me so much inspiration to fix broken items. I'm 71 and wish I had your knowledge yrs ago. I hope you continue to get healthy. You look great every day.
You are amazing and talented ! I do not know of any other restorer/repurposer/,crafter that does as complete and quality job as you do!! Love watching and learning from you! '
You did awesome & gave me some hope for a couple of items I have! Didn't even know where to start!!!! Thanks so much! Your my hero & my main go to person!
Okay! This was a GREAT video! It made me remember about my CA glue, my little green pointy faced Christmas elf can’t lean on his elbows right now, and super glue was an epic fail! That cat 😮 WOW WOW WOW!!!!!! Absolutely loved it! I ran to bid on Santa! 😂 THEN WE HAVE THE BENCH!!!!!!! That is GORGEOUS!!!!! It would be a STEAL in my neck of the woods for $500!!!!!!! LOVE when you share your tried and true and your let’s see what happens when we do ……. videos!!!!!! Beautiful job Yvonne and Chris!!!!
Oh… super glue… trying to get that to work was always a nightmare.. glue everywhere but on the object.. lol😂 Thank you for bidding.. His imperfections tell his story and add to his character and charm being that old of a piece 🎅🏼❤️ Furniture is still on a slow… almost dead stop selling here in this area still. Man oh man I hope it picks back up soon.
Perfect restoration segment! They all turned out great….love the kitty! And the Tater!❤ Thought…I buy a package of emery boards (nail files)(not the metal ones) from the dollar store and use them when I need to sand down something that I can’t get a regular piece of sandpaper around or in….they’re really basically little sandpaper files anyway!😊
Great job! Love that you saved the painting on the bench. I love how easy the Restore is to use. I have it in several different wood tones. Especially love that you saved the elf.
I collect the little ceramic Christmas figures. I absolutely agree to try to repair the figurine if you can. I have a couple little angels missing a wing or halo or what ever but they are still beautiful to me. It is getting harder & harder to add to my collection but I will keep looking. Thank you for sharing your ideas & talent
It makes me happy that you fixed these beautiful items! The bench is gorgeous! I see people pass up items at the thrift stores because they aren’t perfect and they don’t want to do any work on them.
I so agree one of the employees at the goodwill said 5 people put that tray back on the shelf..are u kidding me I thought 😂it had a slight cup ring..hello paint!❤
Great advice. I grew up in a house with seven kids. My family was working class and there wasn’t much money for decor. But my mother was crafty and gifted at home styling like you. She was always finding beautiful castaways at yard sales and thrift stores that she would repair and reused. They may not have had much resale, but they allowed her to give our home an elegance on a budget. They also had the advantage of not making her cry when we knocked them off the shelf playing ball inside the house. 🙃. I will always appreciate the atmosphere she created and the attitude of resourcefulness she instilled in us. She surrounded us with beauty, but never acted like things were more precious than people. I wanted to also lend this tip. To add a gloss onto the sculpting clay, I often use clear nail polish. It already has a small applicator attached and cleans up neatly with acetone. To dull it if too shiny, use a baking soda paste on the tip of your finger. If greater dulling is needed, use Comet paste to polish.
Love watching you, I buy broken items just because I like them and can turn so can't be seen for my decorating but you are so inspiring on all you do, also wonderful to see you have a great husband who is so helpful!
Excellent ideas for saving items! I will definitely look at broken pieces differently now. I am absolutely in love with that cat and it looks like that tail was always there!!

I use nail polish to "paint". It has a shine and there are a lot of polishes to color match. Sometimes, a touch of clear eases the texture
Good tip.. thank you
