"I believe I'm going to do it" | ROAD TO 505 powered by Gymshark | EP2 | Graham Hicks

- In 2016, Eddie Hall made history by becoming the first man to ever deadlift 500kg. In 2023, the bar has been raised even higher.
Graham Hicks has been touted as a serious contender to pull 505 in 2023- does he truly believe he's up to the task? Not always known as a big deadlifter, he pulled 1000lbs in 2022 and hopes 2023 will be the year he takes it out of sight.
There's $55,000 on the line. Will anyone do it?

Hicksy is without a doubt in the small few who could do 505kg
I can do it 495 is part of my warmup
Lol
@@Reppintimefitnessyes. 495 lbs.
@@Reppintimefitness yeah 495
grams 😁
Hicksy has definitely got me psyched for the Deadlift World Championships now. Can't wait for 2nd Sept to watch the livestream.
We cannot wait! It's got the feeling of something special happening already with so many guys looking mega strong.
How do we watch?
How insane would it be if hixxy pulled 505 and then got the wr log as well. He genuinely has a good chance of getting both as well. Going to be there in Cardiff watching. Would be great to see it happen
Considering the toll it took on eddie hall i doubt hell be able to do both lifts. Would be very cool though if he did manage to do so though.
250kg 1st time he deadlifted lol thats a freak right there. Never heard of anyone starting that strong
How can you not love hicksy, one of the very very few that could potentially do the 505
cmon hicksy you got this
Probably not quite enough time to get that required lock out strength required for 505 at the top but think he has a good solid crack at 477kg alongside Rauno Heinla and Ivan Makarov.
Think you are probably right. Maybe in a year or two
I always look out for the Hicks videos both of them are great strength athletes
He's capable. Eddie sings his praises.Someone has to break a barrier to make others see its possible though. The under 4 minute mile, the under 10 second 100meters... Eddie did the 500.. It opens up the possibilities for others. Big up the Beast and go for it Hicksy.
Can’t wait to go to Cardiff to watch this one, 505 here we come! 💪🏻
You got this big man !
Looking forward to watching you pull 505. You can do it.👍
Lovely to see Mr Hicksy talk about this
Good to see him back. hes looking like the beast
You got this for sure big man
Let’s go hicksy! 💪🏼
This is the first deadlift champs in a few years where I think 505 is actually on the cards. A large part of me still thinks these guys need a year or two longer to hit it though.
True. Graham has a chance, Rauno too. Seems like Makarov really improved the lockout and who knows what pavlo will be able to lift if his knee is recovered.
He got this.
Wish you the best!
Its interesting that Hixxy and Adam were when they were 105 athletes the division wasnt huge at that point but now the lower weight classes are doing massive comps now
Definitely in the top 5 soon to be NO 1.
What an absolute legend of earth.
Remember you in the gym on the key side at Lancaster...go for it pal!
He's so quietly confident
Looking good. You can do it for sure.
Big fan of Hicksy but I don't think he's there yet. 502 seems more realistic. I hope he proves me wrong, to come from an undersized man to where he is now is an incredible feat of its own, big respect to him. I dont think anyone has 505 in them besides prime Thor or Eddie at this current moment
These Episodes are great, can't wait for Ep3 now. Good luck to all those going for it 💪
I’m more excited about this one than any other in the past. I think someone’s going to beat Eddie’s record
Respect tu puedes .
Think Hixxy is in with a real shot to be fair.
It would be epic to see the following guys at their absolute prime all at once.
Hicks
Shaw
Thor
Eddie
Pritchett
Hooper
Nackonechy
Rauno
Benny Magnuson
Makarov
Peiman Maheripour
Big Z
All battling it out at their peak no injuries.
It sound cliché, but Eddie still doesn't get the adequate recognition and respect he deserves from the greater public. All of this 505 talk is ALL thanks to Eddie being the one to break the mould and show the world that 500 was possible. There was no one even close before Eddie. Now, thanks to his influence on the sport, there's not a single person with there eyes set on "only" 500. Everyone wants the 505, because Eddie showed them that those heights were possible.
You talking about getting no recognition yet you didn't mention Thor pulling 501 with more in the tank if he wanted to go heavier.
I think a lot of people (Thor fans in particular) forget just how big a barrier it is to be the first to break such a record. Look at how wrecked Roger Bannister was when he broke the 4min. mile, but once this psychological barrier had been broken, such times became commonplace within a very short time
I believe in you .. force your name into the history books ❤.. it will be on3 of the greatest feats of strength.
Music is the bomb🎉
U deserve man this 👍
Good luck! he is getting very big and since he stood up against the convidbullshit i am a big fan of him!!
Yes Hicksy
I’ll be well impressed
💪💪💪
505kg you got this
I love the loud music and the low voice!
Graham's the only human who can do it I feel. Pavlo will one day, but he's not human.
I feel hicks could do 505 and do WR in powerlifting later on in the year
I mean this is hype and all but let's face it looking at the current athletes shape there's no way someone pulls 500kgs+ this year
I hate figure "8" straps. That being said, I hope he does it. 🤘😎
i think it will take a year more, when i see videos of how Eddie was speedreping 450 kg for multiple singels and other crazy weight in training
🎉
Only one man Eddie hall again do it 505kg 💪
That's hilarious 🤣
😍👍👊💪🏅
You just did 450 kg two days ago and it looked so easy.
I can see Hicksy pulling 502
Y'all crack me up saying Thor don't have the world record when the Guinness Book of World Records says otherwise 🤣
Yeah theyve angled it more towards "in-comp" records which is fair. Thors dont the most ever, 100%. Bit eddies still done the most in competition
@@dylanpiazza6358 but that's not the point the point is Thor has the world record no matter what scenario people use to try and say otherwise it's not his fault COVID hit when he was in training to beat the record
@@dylanpiazza6358 the only ones angling it towards in comp are giants live who has a hard-on for Eddie Hall
Still puzzled why Thor didn't go for it first if he had it in him.
According to the comments not long after his lift there was a lot of people saying he had more in the tank, so if he was confident going 1kg more he really should've set the bar higher and made a serious statement by being the first to do 505 kgs, why he didn't is anyone's guess.
@@charles-mp9nt Thors timing was super unfortunate with covid. You can't stay at that size for long and he got a bad rap. However, he did lift the weight, but it was also not in competition. You can't have people just do records at their home gym.
It's also crazy to realise that Hickey is only 5'10.
I did a 500 pound Deadlift too 🏋♂️
i think that doing the biggest deadlift raw without suit traps etc is far more impressive
I do genuinely wonder what happens if more than one man pulls 505kg. Will you call it or go up in weight on the night...? 507.5kg or 510kg..?
Can the guys choose to attempt 500 if tthey want?
...when you pull 505...., mate. When! Not if.
Great video, please adjust sound next time, music is too loud compared to hixy’s voice
Eddie set the bar, great to see no-one considers Thor's 501 as it wasn't in competition. All these athletes have a big gap to breach. Good luck to them all! Records are there to be broken!
🤣🤣 Thor has the world record quit crying about it y'all Eddie fanboys crack me up
@@charles-mp9nt did it get mentioned by the "fanboys" that are going to the deadlift champs this year??
I know its not gonna happen but imagine if Eddie or Thor decided to come back and lift 505 to themselves
But I really hope we see the 505 deadlift, LETS GET IT HICKS
(Please, do not cause a war in the comment)
@@_____________3500 As that kid, I can confirm.
"I pulled 1000Lbs pretty comfortable" - hitches as much as you can
Must’ve watched a different lift buddy
only 505kg ? the 540kg is already taken on deadlift even 505kg is taken by hafthor bjornsson
501 kg is the conventional deadlift record by Hafthor, Eddie's is 500 kg in competition.
The heaviest deadlift is 501 kg (1,104.5 lb), by Thor Björnsson on 2 May 2020 sanctioned by the Worlds Ultimate Strongman, which is the Guinness World Record
WUS doesn't even exist now anyway
I really hope Hicks gets it but it's not gonna happen. He will get hurt and get set back unfortunately
Those reps at 400kg didn’t look like he’s got another 105kg in the tank to me…
U be surprised how different training can be to comp
at least when he does lift 505 it will be legit not the sham of thors 501 lift
😂 Thor has the world record quit crying about it
Thor lifted 501 using same equipment rules as Eddie, off the floor to lockout. Cope harder
Yeah cos gravity is known to be less over in Iceland.
I believe Hicks has the best chance...
Why don't athletes pull 500kg first,we don't b even know if you guys can do that instead of going straight to 502-505
Because they need to warm up into weights keep the system warm
Rauno Heinla gonna beat him to it
Spoiler alert: HE DIDN'T DO IT.
the event is on September
What we are witnessing is very close to the limit of what a human can deadlift. Eddie Hall nearly killed himself at 500 kg. My guess is that we will not see anyone lift much more than 500 kg ever. Also, you are putting your body at a tremendous risk pulling this much weight, it's really not worth it
There is no limit of what a human can lift...
In 100 years they'll be lifting close to 600kg.
Why don't they go 502 like the cry, baby.
We can hardly hear what he's saying. Lower the music volume.
I doubt that anyone will ever be able to do that. eddy set the record and since then, nobody has even came close in competition. thors does not count because he didn't do it in competition. nobody else got a chance to try the weight. Ivan Markov the only one out there I think that could even come close but till this day not a single soul is able to pull what Eddie did in competition. I would love to see it but I just don't think the human body is capable of such a thing. Eddie Hall broke the rules of human biology to lift that half a ton LOL🤯💯👍🏋♂️🏋♂️
not one dot or comma. that sentence gave me a stroke
@@amazingnaturesounds483 there I edited it lol. most intelligent people don't point out punctuation or grammar they argue the points. Even if there are typos and run on sentences an intelligent person can figure out what is being said. My whole point is that since eddy set the 500 in a competition Noone has beaten it. Thors doesn't count because it wasn't done in competition and no other challengers were allowed to try the weight, which ruins the validity of the lift.🏋♂️🏋♂️
Thor has the world record quit crying about it 🤣
@@charles-mp9nt lol yeah he does but I just find it so weird that he didn't do it in a competition and decided to do it in his home gym. Who knows if that bar actually weighed 501 there was no other competitors there to lift it. What if after he lifted it a smaller strongman did two reps of it? The the only person we know for sure has lifted 500 kilos using conventional deadlift in a competition setting is Eddie Hall.
@@brandonellis3704 are you high it was because of COVID they didn't have competitions. And the weights were Rouge and Magnus Ver Magnuson weighed each one on camera
Not gnna happen dude
But it's not up to you...
Eddie hall de best
next year
