Modern Scotland, and I know a chap that was offered work and when he got in the van was told "your f-d now"; hit over the head and taken to northern England where he was forced to work for a certain group of transient people.

After slavery was abolished throughout the British Empire (1833), the British Empire went to war on the Arab slave trade (also known as the East African slave trade), and on slavery across much of the rest of the globe, including SE Asia. You won't hear the toxic left mention any of this. Who were the British fighting against? Who were the slavers and who were the slaves? It's been estimated that some 20,000 sons of Empire lost their lives attempting to stamp out slavery (and piracy, which was linked to slavery) around the world. The left has nothing to say about this. Just a sneer and a smirk.
It doesn't fit the antiwhite narrative.

Nobody talks about the Barbary Slave Trade when Europeans were captured by the Muslim Barbary Pirates and sold as slaves in North Africa and the Ottoman Empire in the Middle East.

In the southern part of Italy we have saracen towers. These were lookouts on the coast for the moor invasions that not only brought pillage, destruction, rape and death but also enslaved the locals.

People need to study history and let go of hundreds years old events, this is a problem especially Americans have but unfortunately it's spilling over to Europe as well.
One of the questions no one asks is, why did slavery become illegal all over the world? The answer is because of the spread of Western Civilization. After Western Nations rid themselves of slavery, they forced the rest of the world to do the same. One of the reasons Africans fought against colonization was because the Europeans outlawed the slave trade which had been part of the African culture for thousands of years. If Africans were oppressed they were also the oppressors, an idea apparently to complex for modern minds.

But the Slavery in the United States in the 18th and 19th century was especially heinous, even worse than what the Pharoah did to the Jews. This slavery was based on dehumanizing a race and making it impossible for those slaves to ever get freedom. They were considered unhuman, and were not even allowed to have their own living areas where they could develop any culture or pass down wisdom to children. They were treated as machines/animals. So its a bit of a stretch to give them credit for saving the world from slavery.

@@Molari Both types of slavery based on debt and war were just as cruel if not more than the transatlantic slave trade , the Barbary Slave Trade in North Africa for instance used to castrate the slaves so they would not reproduce. At the end of the day if you were a slave you were deprived of your natural rights as a human being, whether it is based on race, debt or war , the former is not any better than the latter.
So one of the reasons African fought against the colonisation was because the foreigners wanted to abolish slavery... Do you know how life for the colonised population was? What are your sources?

in the Arab slave trade, it was common place to castrate slaves aged 8. up to 80% of these boys bleed to death and that was only outlawed in the 1960s
In some ways the Arabs had the right idea here, though it sounds a little on the harsh side. They had all the benefits of free labour, with none of the problems associated with having to integrate that unpaid workforce in to their own society and affecting their own gene pool. A generation dies and are gone forever, nothing left behind to show they even existed..........

As Sowell pointed out back in the 1970s Black civil rights leaders do not EVER protest modern slavery in Africa or Asia. Never. Ever. The narrative would be damaging to their “cause” at home.
That's because there's no power to be gained in that pursuit. Domestic subversion by means of exploiting victim mentality and fomenting unrest is the aim, a response to the confusion of a lifestyle alien to their nature. Though they are free in reality they yet remain slaves in mind, like the Israelites wandering in the desert. The problem is that liberalism, through the now disproven behaviouralist rationale, expects all people to be able to adapt instantaneously to a civilisation which is alien to their blood, having no ancestral precedent for such a life. Wolves didn't become dogs overnight; how is it we can observe such things so easily in other species, and yet not in man?
Because there is no real modern slavery in Africa. My father's side of the family is from Western Africa. It's just like most things out of a Westerns mouth, a big ass lie.

One of the things that fuel a growing resentment in me is being blamed for an institution like slavery when it was my bloody ancestors that paid and fought to end it globally. And that's before mentioning that slaves sold to America were treated far better and more humanely than the ones sold to the middle east or countries in Africa that weren't colonized.
It makes me think that if we are going to play this evil horrendous identity politics game, then what right does any other race have to the inventions and products of the West? If we are to blamed for the sins of our past, then you don't get to enjoy the products of our virtues.
You are conflating 2 different things:
1) You should not be blamed for anything anyone else did, your ancestors, your parents, anyone. Not being discriminated against is not privilege, it is your basic right. It is messed and wrong and racist how some people blame white people of today for what happened in the past (and its often other white people who do this).
2) At the same time, you cannot pretend that what happened in the past was OK compared to the rest of the world. The subsequent institutional segregation means that they were not able to properly integrate into the wider culture and absorb back any culture. So they are now having to develop their culture from scratch and racists see that and say look, slavery is over, but they are still so different, as if such a loss can be overcome so fast.

Not to mention there was an active effort from the northern states to free the slaves in the south. It was not impossible to get free for slaves. Hell, a goddamn civil war was fought to liberate them. Pretending that the slaves brought to the US were treated especially horrible compared to life in most other places in the world at the time is just wrong.
Slavery in the US was not "especially heinous". Nobody is pretending it was OK, but it was better than everyone is pretending it was. For most of history most people weren't considered human by the ruling class.
The biggest thing standing in the way of recovery is opening the wound of the historical trauma and selling it as "especially heinous".
@@Molari Slavery is alive and well in the U.S. today, but the slavers are different. Most of the slaves today are a result of the sex trade. And the gangs have found that dealing in human flesh is more profitable and less risky than selling drugs and guns. I researched the number of people convicted of human trafficking in my state for an entire year, as reported in the media. You do not want to know, but can probably guess, what the race of over 80% of the perpetrators were.

My ancestors were miners in the north and it was hell, how badly they were treated.Yet I am now told I am privileged because of my ancestors.
Yes and mill workers and factory workers in 19thc Lancashire like my ancestors in the early days they weren't even allowed toilet breaks- on a 10 hour shift! Well privileged huh.
Too bloody right! My ancestors were fishermen and my husbands were miners. None of them had anything that they didn’t have To work bloody hard for. Anyone who mentions white privilege to me in my own land had better be able to run fast.
My grandfather had tribal scars, he was igbo born at the turn of the century. The scars were if your child was kidnapped and enslaved. His people would know him, where he was from if he ever escaped.

I employed many black people in my home to work in the house and garden while I was living in South Africa in order to help the great unemployment problem that they have in South Africa. For this, I got labeled as a "racist", of course. I had to let these people "go", then II did all the work myself, then I was accused of "stripping the work of African people". (I had house-invasions during that time). I sold the house and moved to an apartment.

The computational advances in the last 50 years have made tracking and manipulation of price/wage balances so precise and manipulable that the majority of people even in the west are working JUST to afford their "freely" chosen shelter and transport, but not have so much excess energy or time or capital that they can reach any kind of comfortable plateau before they kick off.
Well said. Almost everyone alive today is a virtual slave, despite the fact they get to choose which clothes to buy and which car and house payments they get to serve.

I won't go into much detail but I have seen a "slave plantation" myself in Ecuador. Essentially, I was dating a girl very seriously and after a few years I went to visit the "family farm". There were around 100 African slaves which I was not allowed to see - I saw the plantation and was made aware of the slaves through verbal evidence. The fact I was not allowed to see them, when I was deeply involved in everything else, is confirmation for me. It was a sugar cane plantatio

The point made by citing the Florentine tour guide's explanation that the church was built "without the cost of labour" is an oversimplification, and misleading. Of course, Chris didn't specify which church building he was alluding to, but to suggest that 'slave' labour was used disregards the guild system, the social context as well as penitential offering by parishioners towards the construction. Some listeners may think ancient church buildings were constructed by slave labour. We do know that in the British colonies convict labour from India was popularly used for public works. The Anglican cathedral of St Andrew in Singapore for example is an documented example. Today, in the rebuilding of Notre Dame's roof, many of the forestry partners and mills are contributing to the work as 'philanthropy' and one wonders if 500 years from now, some commentator will suggest otherwise.
The point is, it's hardly accurate to cite a tour guide without specifics and insinuate that monumental and beautiful ancient church buildings and furnishings were because there was no 'cost of labour/slave labour': I think what the guide meant was that these were donations or gifted, and hence the misunderstanding. 🤔
Thank you for bringing this up, I'd forgotten that labor was given on a volunteer basis in erecting church buildings - something about trading labor for the prayers of the priest that aided their dead loved ones.

We literally fought an unnecessary civil war to end slavery when the institution was already in decline because it wasn’t even economically preferable with the inventions that lead to industrialization. This is why Europe ended it without a war.
The civil war was about more than slavery. It was about preserving the Union.

Inherently no… colonization can be good or bad depending who is doing the colonizing. Most everything we think of as good in the world today is a result of colonization. There have been peoples who have been stagnant for thousands of years who instantly improved due to colonization.

World improved post industrialization and globalisation after WW2, before that all the colonized countries and it's natives were more or less the same. The fact remains that Native American tribes who allied with colonials and accepted the west are FAR better than those who didn’t. When you look at places with European colonialism those places are better off for it because they had access to technical improvements faster. Those who were colonized by Spain are better than if they hadn’t, those who were colonized by the French slightly better than being colonized by the Spanish, and those colonized by Anglos are doing the best of all.
Feels weird that the first point (and video title) seems like a dramatically more important issue to talk about than dwelling on the past, and then the rest of the talk dwells on the past. I mean we _should_ remember the mistakes other made in the past, but they're _others'_ mistakes, and if we're aware of a modern crisis surely that's a more worthwhile topic to cover and bring to peoples' attention in greater detail.
It’s true that Europeans didn’t really go into the interior of Africa and catch slaves. They just turned up to the ports and bartered with the natives who captured slaves usually after a raid or war with a neighbouring tribe that was defeated in battle. Everyone probably has a ancestor that was a slave, the same way that probably everyone has a ancestor that was part of a ruling class at one time. I mean usually in the past it was really a dog eat dog world. If you won the battle you ruled and if you lost you were sold into slavery or killed. The chances of you being a descendant of someone who lineage didn’t taste both sides over say the past 5000 years is extremely unlikely.
Look at the Irish who were also sold into slavery yet one of their descendants became the president of United States. The same came be said of the Slavs and say Putin.

Thank you Douglas, you are so correct regarding these permanent black slave victims, they just cannot let it go. Plus the fact, what they write is usually fictitious and erroneous. The slave trade by the Arabs was usually worse because most of the males were castrated and their life span was quite short. As regards reparations, I would offer a single ticket to their ancestral home, take it or leave it. Looking forward to reading his new book.

Actually Douglas there’s a lot of evidence now to suggest that the pyramid builders or a highly skilled group of trades people which were provided food and medical care and lived at a level much higher than that of the average Egyptian
There's also evidence that black slaves in America were treated well on the whole by the plantation owners, as they were valuable commodities. It was the transportation of these poor souls that was particularly horrendous. But both groups had no choice in their destiny, which is enslavement. You could also argue that the poor working class people who facilitated the Industrial Revolution in the UK were slaves, as the companies made sure they were indebted financially to the company for life. Slavery has many forms, and is definitely on the ascendancy.....

7:30 I speak Arabic, and I would like to correct his statement. The word "عبد (abed)" means "slave" or "worshiper" and is commonly used in Arab-speaking countries to refer to all fellow Muslims (no matter the color or ethnicity) because we are indeed slaves to Allah (God) and worship him. I can't judge his intentions but it's funny that he scratched his nose right as he was starting his sentence.
The word “abed عبد” lost its slavish context except for its religious context which you emphasized , when an arab says “abed” it either means black without thinking at all of any kind of racist slavish superiority , or it means a slave in its religious context that is a slave to allah.
I live in the middle east, surly i cant speak of all middle east areas but the country i live in is palestine and i have many black friends which we sometimes adress them using the word abed , when i was a kid growing up i had never had any idea what racism is and never thought that i have more worth , these things rarely exist and seen btw people here.

Slavery is still legal in the USA. Prisoners still provide slave labor. The 13th Amendment abolished slavery and indentured service generally but carved out an exception for those convicted of crimes. Prisoners can be forced to work without compensation. The USA has the highest prison population in the world, around 25 percent of all prisoners are in the USA. Around .06 percent of the US population is incarcerated.
What about those people complaining about slavery but use a mobile phone etc, that are made by slaves, surely, they are profiting from slavery?
A lot of this is misdirection by politicians as well; they know what is going on but misdirect into other redundant causes because the truth is too uncomfortable for their careers.
