    Hi chris! Its me TinyChibiFox!
My Community tank is a 25 Gallon (I believe. for me its 80 Litres) My Pleco is actually v small, he came from a poor breeder tank at PetsAtHome and just has never grown. I did have him in a 150 Litre but he wasnt thriving! Now he's slowly growing and im hoping to move him back to his bigger tank soon! My sand has 2 different Fertilized soils in (you can kinda see a hint of it bottom right), Thank you so much for featuring my tank! Absolutely made my day!

The deep substrate was an overcompensation. I had some ammonia fears so I dumped way too much inert sand. This tank is due for some proper redo even though I changed some plants and it's looking way better.. I appreciate the exposure.

when i first started my tank the worker at the petshop explained nothing about filtering or cycling and said it would be fine to put a betta with other fish. I had a sword tail guppy and common pleco and the betta killed the guppy and sword tail. then the betta died from swim bladder disease and I don't know why the pleco died but It probably died from there being no filter. Thankfully now I know how to take care of fish 🐠

Mixing colors of shrimp does NOT produce only brown.
Normally when people mix shrimp it's in a community skittles tank where the colored shrimp are being picked off by your fish because they are so easy to see compared to the browns.
KeepingFishSimple has several videos of mixing many different colors , and I've mixed many colors as well.
You see browns because the young colored shrimp are way easier for your fish to see.

Short-finned betta and a group of panda cories in a beautifully scaped tank... Make it a 20 gallon long and it'd be perfect!
And I love the dog analogy! It's exactly the case. If you wouldn't do it to your dog, you shouldn't do it to *any* pet

Hey Chris. I recently rescued a betta from my job (i work at a local pet store) he is currently in a planted 2.5 with a filter and a heater. I bought the "betta substrate" and "betta rocks with live bacteria for bettas". He started building a bubble nest the other day. I have betta pellots and freeze dried blood worms for him. In two pay cycles he is beinf upgraded to a 15 gallon.

I went to cura coa ( sorry for the bad spelling) for scuba diving a few weeks ago and it was amazing I saw beautiful coral reefs and a giant variety of fish many of which were very poisonous. Such as puffer fish (the size of a football) and scorpion fish. It was really cool and had some of the best diving and snorkeling I have ever seen. Their were at least 200 different species hiding around an oil rig (was being fixed for a long time according to our dive instructor). Which was really sketchy because I turned the corner around one of the pipes (in the shadows by a 300 foot drop off with nothing to see) and saw the giant puffer fish 2 feet ahead of me. What was sad though was the dead coral beds on the bottom of the reef. It makes you realize how badly we are damaging the environment. I also wish I brought a under water case for my phone so I could of gotten some pictures.

Yeah, bettas are territorial so they definitely need bigger tanks for a larger range… although there’s one endangered species of Betta where it’s supposed to common for them to live in the crevices of palms during droughts… I still wouldn’t recommend containing them in small tanks.

Favourite vacation spot? I'd like to go various places but the best place to chill out for me is anywhere in the Dutch province of Drenthe countryside. It's where my roots are and the people are so chill.
If I were ever to have a fish shop and breed fish commercially, I'd want one in an old Saxon farm house.
Few weeks ago I was at a pancake restaurant in Aalden, I'd like a place like that! I would take plenty safety and insulation measures though. Thatched roofs and all of those electrics with the tanks inside, you know. Fish tanks where they used to have cows.

  • @Chompchompyerded
    @Chompchompyerded 15 днів тому

AOTW: Are you kidding?! I have pets. Many of them are rather exotic and require lots of special care. The only one which could travel is the goose. She love to sit in whatever moves and watch out the window. Everyone else isn't quite as mobile. The turtle is a fully aquatic species, and rather large, being as big around as a pie pan. None of my other critters are any more mobile than that, so for those which a vet can treat, the vet comes to me, not the other way around. I also use various specialist vets rather than one small animal vet. Small animal vets are generally kind of clueless when it comes to much of anything other than cats and dogs, so I have an avian specialist vet, a reptilian specialist vet, and even a DVIM (vet specializing in fish). I also run a wild bird rescue, and will also take a few other small animals, and all of that is done with a view toward eventual release back into the wild. All of that takes a lot of time, and at this time of year when people are bringing in lots of babies, it's a constant cycle of keeping everybody fed on schedule.
I used to go out to my tiny little cabin in the woods in the summer, but I got put in a wheelchair by a drunk driver, and that little cabin is definitely not wheelchair friendly, so I had to sell it. Now I couldn't go too it even if I could walk because the needs of the critters take up my every waking moment. I suppose in a way, I'm living a permanent vacation, because I really love what I do. I love spending time with my non-human friends, and there isn't much that I could do from a wheelchair which would provide me with as much as I get from the dear little critters in my life. When I'm not working with them, I'm reading everything I can get my hands on about them, or creating environments for them which will assure that they are living their best life. Sometimes you have to get really creative. All animals which have something bigger than a notochord need some sort of enrichment to keep their little minds busy. That's as important as food, though most people don't realize that. I'm no longer roaming the forests and mountains of BC anymore, or kayaking the world's white water rivers anymore, and at first that was really tough. But I've found something else to do with my life which is incredibly fulfilling and enjoyable, and is more or less a vacation in and off itself. I'm kinda like, what would I rather be doing? The answer is always, "nothing. I'm living the dream." Or at least my dream.

Its actually crazy to me how so many ppl think its ok to put dogs in crates for extended times and then claim its ok because they like it there. Just because you trained them to accept it, doesnt mean its not cruel. They need activity and freedom to roam. If you cant provide that then you shouldnt have the privilege to own a dog. Applies for fishes, and pretty mush all animals.

my vacation spot will be easily Kota Kinabalu. being Singaporean, somewhat the best time to go is august (applies to taipei too) and i did see wildfires just this march, they burnt a whole hill to a crisp and the nearby shell gas station abandoned. Just at the countryside having some of the biggest ones. recommend to go to Tanjong Aru or Tuaran for their Shangri-La beach resorts are the best, both evenly matched since tuaran’s soft sand and easy find of seashells and sand dollars(legal to bring back 😂) including the stones from the poolside (legal too😂) i mean the poolside orders like 10 thousand rocks for decor and yes just watch out for sparrows, they starting clans to make a war and tanjong aru’s beautiful sunset pictures and the new vr room, friendly staff but yea this aint all.
The next one is Bangkok, stayed in eastin grand, buffet was delicious (their grilled river prawns sell out immediately) and somewhat its free and uh
just dont wear hotel room slippers and bathrobes.the travel was more than convenient since you got a train station just outside, no need to go out the hotel entrance. easy to get to siam paragon for good food and the aquarium at the basement. oh and its 1 hour slower singapore so rn is 8:41pm and for them is 7:41 pm (when i finished typing for bangkok) and street food good too. just try the maine lobster with cheese, delicious.
The last one is Taipei. Stayed in the W hotel (very expensive hotel but not very expensive), yet we get to go everywhere. Taipei 101 is just 2-3 blocks away, go sightseeing. Zoo was okay, just that the seats on the train ride to get to the other side of the zoo was extremely hot (i burned myself) just that dont go during june holiday ok we went while knowing got typhoon :( oh and uhh only airport at taipei so if u want to go to tai chung, just have a 3 hour drive or smth. thats all :]

My favorite vacation spot is a lake back where my mom lives. It’s 100% preserved as in no houses or motor boats. It’s called Rifle River Rec Area in Michigan. 10/10 beautiful and clean water. That or Rhode Island I will admit I love my seafood

Yummy yum! I love seafood too. Problem is I can't eat it at home because that would be too much like eating kids in front of my kid. Just can't do it for a whole lot of reasons.

sadly the nerites leave egg trails everywhere and their eggs are way harder to remove. they leave little white spots all over your rocks and wood, i only use amano shrimp and otos for algae cleanup now

Where do you get the fish bridges from and what keywords do you need to search for it with? I was looking for one a while ago but didn’t have any luck with finding them for sale anywhere I looked online so I think I must’ve been using the wrong search terms or maybe they’re all custom made by the people that own those fish tanks? I like the idea you had for maybe connecting two 75 gallon aquariums with a fish bridge and I think it would turn out amazingly and it would hopefully avoid the problem of having too much water weight on the floor surface per square foot like I think the bigger standard size tanks have to either be on a cement slab foundation first floor or in the basement because the second floors of houses aren’t built to hold that much water per square foot unless they’ve been specifically structurally reinforced, also the really big tanks look like they would be difficult to get home at all and getting them into the house and into place without dropping and breaking them would be really difficult and they’re also way more expensive too than the slightly shorter length smaller ones would be if I just got two of those ones. I forgot to say my favourite holiday is usually to stay at a rented cottage in Ontario cottage country or over in Quebec on a motor boats prohibited lake surrounded by a forest with some of my extended family, or camping at the various national and provincial parks, it gives us the chance to relax together and catch up on how everyone is doing and I really like canoeing and watching the animals in nature and swimming if it gets too hot but I also really like that sort of vacation because it very rarely gets too hot because of the wind off of the lake and the shade from the forest makes it feel cooler and it’s usually pretty quiet too and we can usually barbecue and have a campfire if the fire danger is low enough too which is also really nice.
