Fun fact…the smartass kid at the birthday party who tells Ray & Winston that they’re “full of crap” is Jason Reitman, son of the first two films’ director Ivan Reitman. Jason went on to co-write and direct Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and co-wrote Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Frozen Empire was so bad
Love that legacy stamp this series of films has created! Truly a father-son operation! I think that is ultimately what is going to make this entire movie franchise (minus 2016, of course) immortal in our culture. That, and none of the four movies can really be rightly called "crap" sequels. They are all, at the very least, moderately entertaining. Yes, even the most recent one (whose flaws I think are inflicted on it, rather than actually there).
@@handsomeDRACI loved Frozen Empire.
@@handsomeDRAC It was a masterpiece compared to 2016 Wokebusters.
@darkaoshi27 sounds like you have a skill issue with taste in what makes a good movie.
George: "How is no one helping?"
New Yorkers: "You must be new here."
New York is like a sleazy Vegas….it never sleeps
He actually nailed the premise of the movie at the very beginning and didn’t know it.
Someone's dad passed out in the street
The wind-up key woker bees
Buzz right on by
At night he still lies
There 'cause nobody cares
Insects with briefcases ignore him
Been lying here for days
Not my problem, man
'cause look man, this is New York
Kind of the point of the movie.
Actually, we are a very helpful bunch.
Peter MacNichol is absolutely hilarious. He steals the show in Dracula: Dead and Loving It.
To be fair, he didn't exactly have to try hard to steal the show in Dracula: Dead and Loving It
Also held his own with Rowan Atkinson in Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie.
"My God, what are you doing to the furniture?"
"Come, Renfield!"
"Yes, Master!!"
lol
@@jacob4920 “That’s right! He flies, I don’t!”
“We had part of a slinky but I straightened it.“ is such a great line. It‘s funny and it tells you everything you need to know about Egon.
All the proof you need that Egon is 'on the spectrum', just like Sheldon Cooper.

Laughing at George noticing Bobby Browns hair the exact moment his song is playing and he had no clue
I was gonna comment that the guy with the cool hair is Bobby Brown.....whose song is playing when you see him. Lol
Simon- ooh Winnie the poo.
Umm yeah, George can’t talk about that character if he plans on safely returning to the homeland.
THIS 😂
UA-camrs in a nutshell.
@@fubar1217 Not gonna lie, I'm old enough to always think of Bobby Brown whenever I hear the name, so I get confused today whenever someone mentions the actress Millie Bobby Brown.
This film is much better than most people give it credit for.
Pretty close in quality to the first one imo. I've not been a fan of movies that came out after it and they probably should have left the franchise end on this one. New ones feel like cash grabs.
It's totally underrated.
On par with the first, at the very minimum. Bill Murray and Peter MacNicol on fire and joined by a host of both charismatic and competent actors, a high frequency of quality jokes, perfect directing and editing, and Bobby Brown's excellent "On Our Own" complements the already great soundtrack. No problems whatsoever in pacing, either.
No it’s not, it’s just the first movie made badly.
@@noneya3635 How so?
Fun fact: the dock supervisor who, when the Titanic shows up, says "better late than never", is veteran comic actor Cheech Marin (of Cheech & Chong fame) in a cameo role.
He has done non-comedy roles as well.
I love cheech. I was singing his song born in East LA a couple days ago. Had no idea why 😊
"The fact that its Pink, is what makes it look, not, so terrible" Obviously they haven't seen the remake for The Blob (1988).
exactly what I was thinking
The Blob is so good !!
There were so many good remakes of campy 1950s horror movies in the 1970s and 1980s!
The Blob is the third of the trifecta of awesome gorey 80s horror remakes of 50s films. It might not be quite as top-tier as The Fly and The Thing but it certainly deserves to stand alongside them in my opinion. :D
@@carn9507Yes the 3 THEs!! This comment is spot on!!
The guy on Peter's show at the beginning predicted the end of the world on New Year's, which is when Vigo was going to get free. Dude really was psychic.
And the lady was Lisa Simpson. How did George not notice?
If he really was psychic he would've known his son was telling the truth
@@memphisscottrogers That isn't Yeardley Smith. It's Chloe Webb.
@@memphisscottrogersThat was actually a different actress who happens to look like Yeardley Smith, who plays Lisa Simpson.
That is consistent with Venkman, in the first film he punishes the male student subject who actually demonstrates ability; and plays up the (lack of) ability of the attractive girl.
Fun fact, Rick Moranis (who plays Loius) often ad-libbed lines and very rarely stuck to the script as he was a radio show comedian before becoming an Actor. Most of his rambles like the courtroom were just him riffing.
He was also one half of Bob & Doug McKenzie - which was almost entirely ad-libbed
That blue thing i got from her!!
Best line from a lawyer in a movie
@@exile220ifyi loved that movie.
"The Man with No Dick' sounds like Western movie we never got XD
Flashed to the George Carlin and his seven words you can’t say on TV b it.
Specifically when he suggests replacing the work kill with one of the seven words in old movies….
Or a western porn parody??
Directed by Quintin Tarantino. Lol.
More like an homage to "The man with the golden gun". :)
@@brozy5720 He was almost definitely compensating for *something*!
The guy who George said "that guys hair is awesome" was the musician Bobby Brown whose song was playing in the background.
Oh yeah. The guy who turned Whitney Houston into a crackhead.
Actually, it was the other way around.
Kid that says "My Dad say's your full of crap..." at the kids party is Jason Reitman, son of the director and director of Ghostbusters Afterlife. (Also kissed a girl in Kindergarten Cop)
“Kissed A Girl In Kindergarten Cop” is Katy Perry’s most underrated follow-up album.
And the girl with puppy that Egon is examining is Jason’s sister Catherine
@@andrewft31aka Maureen Ponderosa from Always Sunny
*So glad* you two gave "Ghostbusters II" a chance. One of the most sorely underappreciated sequels ever. A lot of people heap so much hate on this movie, and I don't know why because I personally think it stands on semi-equal footing with the original in terms of being a classic. It doesn't deserve all the negative reception, it's so entertaining.
People crap on this movie, but it has its fair share of great lines: “Everything you’re doing is bad. I want you to know this.” Or, “I had part of a slinky, but I straightened it.” Or “Very good Louis. Short, but pointless.”
Or - Venkman: Where in the hell are you from anyway?
Janosz: The Upper Vest Side.
"This city will be mine and Viggos! ...Mainly Viggos"
"She's a harbor chick!". Makes me laugh hard every time.
Now the big question for Simone and George.....who has the most over the top accent, Peter McNicolls in this or Bronson Pinchot as Serge in Beverley Hills Cop :D
Bronson Pinchot, of course. Don’t be ridiculous. 😉
@@0okamino Dance of joy commencing! 👏

@@MitchClement-il6iq I'm going off ones they have seen
Remember Ghostbusters Afterlife have two end credit scenes. Don't forget to watch those too 😉.
that would require watching that movie again. no thanks
@@Turnabout Oh hi Wally Wick, how's the rest of the rodents you hang out with?
@@Turnabout The first half of it is completely unwatchable. It's only marginally better than the bagged 2016 "Answer the Call" but only because it rips off the plot from the 1st movie. They should have left it at Ghostbusters 2.
Before this movie, I recognized Peter MacNicol from the very awesome 1981 movie "DragonSlayer". You 2 HAVE to watch that movie. It's one of the best 80s sword and sorcerer movies, hands down. And, it's one of the best looking dragons ever. The fact that it is all animatronics, puppetry and some stop motion makes it that much cooler. Also George, if you are looking for some cool artwork, may I suggest something from Frank Frazetta. He does epic fantasy artwork. I used to have a copy of his painting "Silver Warrior".
DragonSlayer is so freaking awesome. Loved it as a kid. Back when movie dragons were scary monsters.
The best Wizard and Dragon ever to be put on film... bar none.
The guy who has the Ghostbusters committed is played by Kurt Fuller. He's good at playing slimeballs.
And he hands them over to Bill’s brother Brian, of course. 😄
Rob Lowe’s henchman in Wayne’s World
People rightfully hold the first movie in higher esteem, but Ghostbusters 2 was one of the movies that was on repeat at my house growing up. My family still quotes the stupid things Janosz said. To this day, whenever I want to show contempt for something, I say "You are like the buzzing of flies to me!" This movie will forever hold a special place in my heart.
"Has Bill Murray ever done standup?"
24/7 for as long as I've known about him. :D
Yeah, the better question might be “Has he ever not been doing standup?”
Wow, for 30 years I just realized at 18:50 min marker, Egon is an emotionless man and just pure logical man so it make sense that the ooze didn't take as much effectiveness on him than it did to Ray & Winston or the ooze is like hivemind and remembers Egon from their one night stand 🤣
I’m not unconvinced Egon wasn’t. a Vulcan incognito
LMAO! Your comment about the 'one night stand' had me rolling!
The baby Oscar was played by twins who are actually the nephews of the late John Denver, famous folk singer.
And one of them, Hank commited suicide in 2017
and the other one devoted themselves to helping potential suicides. They started "Hank's Hope for a Cure" with the Brain & Behavior Research drive.
In the Ghostbusters video game, Vigo the Carpathian is still trapped inside the painting, kept in the Ghostbusters storefront and you can interact with him and he will chat with you, insult you and make prophecies about the future.
aw man, my copy was bugged and you couldn't get past the river of slime bit at the start :(
A very different "Disney" movie to watch Peter MacNichol in, is Dragonslayer.
Ernie Hudson has said Bill Murray fought for Hudson to be in this movie and have a bigger role. That leads me to believe personal issues couldn't be the reason that there is often one member missing, since that one member is always Murray or Hudson and they got along great.
Scheduling? Hudson came out with four films in '89.
I've always loved the dock supervisors bit with the Titanic: "well, better late than never"
I still can't believe that the secretary is also the grandma from young sheldon.
Also Bo Peep in the Toy Story movies
From years and years of international travel I have determined that no matter where you go you will always find Ghostbusters 2 playing on a TV channel somewhere.
It's always playing at every hotel I stay!!!!
I never could watch Ally McBeal without expecting Biscuit (Peter MacNicol) to stand up in court and say, “Your honor… HE’S VIGGO!!!” 😂 This is my favorite Ghostbusters film.
I must say Peter MacNicol is severely underrated as a character actor. Absolutely loved him in Ally McBeal and the Mr. Bean movie.
"You are like the buzzing of flies to him!"
@@XX2Media He won an Emmy for guest starting on "Veep". I know him best from "Sophie's Choice" with Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline and the TV crime drama, "Numb3rs".
That soul train joke is the greatest thing to happen at 7am on a Saturday.
The guy with the haircut was Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston's husband. He also sang the theme song for this movie.
Of course the doctor in the mental institution sitting next to Bill, is his brother Brian Doyle Murray.
The little kid at the birthday party who tells them they are 'full of crap' is Jason Reitman, son of director Ivan, who himself later went on to direct Juno, Up In The Air and the new Ghostbusters movies.
I'd love to see them react to Thank You For Smoking
And the little girl was at Egon’s lab with the puppy, was Ivan Reitman’s daughter, I forget her name though.
The song that makes the Statue of Liberty come to life has been rated one of the most uplifting songs of all time. It's a personal favorite of mine.
The guy with the cool hair was actually Bobby Brown, the theme song he sung for this movie was playing during the scene when he appeared.
Simone’s reaction to Janos’s hand shake made me so happy.
Kurt Fuller is AMAZING. 😅
One of my favorite actors since Supernatural and Evil.
He's great in the later seasons of Psych too.
And Benjamin's lackey in Wayne's World!
I'm so glad you two enjoyed Ghostbusters II. Now you're set to watch the continuation in the third movie. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
And you don’t want us exposing ourselves, is one of my favorite lines in this movie, even though it is littered with lines that I like.
2:08 "How is no one helping?!" Because the movie is set in New York.
I always feel like clean-shaven, Ernie Hudson actually looks younger than he did in the first movie five years earlier. Anyone else?
ahhh Ghostbusters 2. that time in the 80's when we had to wait 5 years for a sequel. Imagine the hype and power of the original Ghostbusters back in the mid 80s and then in 1989 when the sequel came out....America went nuts! Theaters were sold out, long lines to wait for the movie (no reservations back in 89) and the merch was AMAZING! Toys, shirts, etc. Summer of 1989 was an amazing summer for movies. Here are some releases:
1. Ghostbusters 2
2. Tim Burton's Batman
3. The Abyss
4. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
5. Lethal Weapon 2
6. When Harry met Sally
7. Honey I Shrunk The Kids
8. The karate kid part 3
wow what a summer! I think I saw all these movies at the theaters that summer.
You forgot uhf. But to be fair, so did most others
Two Rick Moravia flicks on that list 😅

Better that then pull a deliverance on it.
I don’t think the slime would appreciate being treated like Ned Beatty
God bless rick Moran is he walked away from holly wood when his wife died to spend time with his kids
Then some black guy punched him for no reason
i first saw this when i was 6 or 7, and the one scene that has never left my mind, and still intrudes on my thoughts ....is the ghost nanny. even at almost 40, i can still imagine her/him flying up, red eyes, and flying off in the night sky.
One of Peter MacNichol's first leading film roles was in the must see "Dragonslayer". (Still has the scariest dragon on film!)
I watched this one just as much as the first growing up (along with Beetlejuice as well), and gosh darn do I love it! Peter MacNicol absolutely steals the show in this; cracks me up every time!
Great reaction to this underrated 80s sequel you two.
The Mr. Bean/Ghostbusters connection....
Peter MacNicol, who was in Ghostbusters II was also very funny in the 'Bean: The Movie' (1997) with Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean. Also Harris Yulin who played the judge in Ghostbusters II is also in the Mr. Bean movie....Pamela Reed is also in the Mr. Bean movie (she was also in Kindergarten Cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger & that film was also directed by Ivan Reitman who directed Ghostbusters & Ghostbusters II and helped co-produced Ghostbusters Afterlife and Ghostbusters Frozen Empire up until he passed away in 2022).
Pamela was also in Reitman's underrated "Junior".
You should watch the deleted scenes of Ghostbusters II. Eugene Levy played Rick Moranis' brother in a few scenes who helps him get the Ghostbusters out of the hospital.
2:44 A young Jason Reitman, son of director Ivan Reitman. Jason would later direct Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
I really enjoyed this one when I watched it in cinema in 1989. Maybe not a big a classic like the first. But lots of memorable scenes. Some pretty scary stuff for a comedy. And a great soundtrack. I still got a soft spot for this one. And I really enjoy this line from it: "Mayor, it's a great pleasure to see you again, and you'll be happy to know that almost fifty percent of us voted for you in the last election."
Ghostbusters 2 is a great movie and an excellent sequel, and I will die on this hill.
People say this is a bad sequel i disagree i think it’s amazing
My first album was the original Ghostbusters soundtrack on cassette tape.
Bill Murray, along with Harold Ramis and Bill's brother Brian Doyle-Murray (the doctor at the psychiatric hospital btw), got his start as part of the Chicago Second City improv troupe. They then joined the voice cast for the National Lampoon Radio Hour, which led to them doing several of National Lampoon's live shows.
one of the best little details in this movie is that Vigo's last name is the same as the last name of the twins who portrayed Oscar.
One of the few movies that could give me nightmares as a kid. Unlocked new fear of eyes in a painting following me.
The long, drawn out "Winnnnstonnn..." is so amazing, just a random name drop. Gets me good every time!😂
“So amazing” “Random name drop” ?
Ok.
Vigo's full name was Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf (paying homage to the adult actor as well as both baby actors) and was played by Wilhelm von Homburg, the infamous German pro wrestler and boxer who returned to acting when released from prison in the '70s. He had previously appeared in an episode of Gunsmoke as a boxer named Otto in 'the promoter' episode in April 1964. He was also one of the German henchmen in DIE HARD (1988). The voice of Vigo, however, is Max von Sydow. I like the two films equally but #2 maybe better, although the first one is needed - don't forget there's a #3. It was released in 2021 and the last film I saw in a theater - seems so long ago, now. I think it's worth it.
George: “that guy’s hair is cool!”
Me: crying because I clearly recognize “that guy” as King of R&B Bobby Brown and feel old now🤣🤣🤣
You guys do a great job of reacting to movies. Here are a couple that I think would be perfect for you to watch: [1) "LIFE", starring both Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence in my opinion, one of Eddie's Top 2 movies (along w/"Coming To America"), with great plot, outstanding makeup, obviously funny, and surprisingly even touching at times........2) "Driving Miss Daisy", w/ Morgan Freeman & Jessica Tandy in this Oscar winner! Morgan is hired by Jessica's son to drive her around due to her getting older, but she's stubborn & unknowingly prejudice, but over 3 decades their relationship starts to "evolve", and you might even find yourselves shedding a tear]. Simone & George, you two would do these movies justice. Good job with your channel. 👏🏾
I still find it wild that the poster shows 4 actors, names 5 and Ernie Hudson isn't one of them!
2:28 When I was young I had a single fore this song on a 7 inch vinyl record. It was the only record I owned. Everything else was cassette tapes. This song was done by Ray Parker Jr. and it's one of the biggest hits he ever had.
Vigo was the first thing I thought of when Tywin Lanister first showed up on screen, on point George!
Dude with the cool haircut is Bobby Brown. One of the architects of modern R&B 🔥🔥
Somebody please explain how Dana went from playing in the Orchestra at Lincoln Center to painting cleaning?
She had a baby. As a single mom, she can't commit to the demands of being a concert performer (A lot of time practicing, rehearsals, and performances), so one assumes she took some time offf (And found a less demanding position) until her situation allows her to commit fully to it (When the kid is older), one assumes.
@@kwydjebo Yeah but art preservation is a field of its own. Ya can't just walk is with some Q-tips and a bottle of alcohol from CVS and sit down in front of a Rembrandt and start cleaning. And if you could, it wouldn't pay enough for her to buy those eggs, much less pay the rent on that apartment.
2:44 Is the Director's son and he is now directing the new ones.
For whatever reason this was my favourite out of the two as a kid. My opinion has changed a little as i've grown older as I think the script is tighter in the original but it's still awesome and such an awesome terrifying villain. Also Janine rules. Top 3 90s crush.
19:23 That is Bobby Brown playing the doorman. And that is his song for this movie playing during this scene. Bobby Brown was married to Whitney Houston until 2007.
The guy who (along with his twin brother) played the baby died age 28 from “schizoaffective disorder”.
Yeah, that was Henry. It’s such a sad loss, especially so young. From what I understand, he had been suffering from it over the course of about 9 years. As far as I know, his brother William, on the other hand, did not develop any such mental illness, and I hope that remains the case.
Funfact: The guy who plays Vigo was a German boxer..and I mean a famous German boxer...he gave a very famous "interview" where he simply didnt answer any question and just smiled...And Slimer is an homage to John Belushi who was originally in the script but died before the first movie and was a real real good friend of Dan Akroyd...and YES you can buy that painting as well as prints...
John Belushi
Fun fact: it's almost always twins that play kids when they're that young, since there's very strict laws about how long they can be on set for, etc, etc.
Love both movies equally. "Ghostbusters" is my favorite Elmer Bernstein score and after more than 32 years later we FINALLY get a release of Randy Edelman's score to "Ghostbusters II".
I liked Peter MacNicolm in his 1981 movie Dragonslayer, Dracula: Dead and Loving it directed by Mel Brooks, and in the series Numb3rs.
One thing I find that made this movie great is that the psychic guy at the beginning was right about the end of the world if not for the Ghostbusters.
when i first saw the movie i was like heyyy that's bobby brown, that played the doorman
Ghostbusters (2009) video game is a spiritual successor to these two movies and worth a play. All the main actors voice their characters and explains why Dickless was a dick.
I heard the guy who played Darth Vadar was also surprised at the premier that they didn't use his voice.
"Vy am I drippings vith goo?" I use this phrase every time I have a cold.
Bill Murray got his start on "Saturday Night Live" in the Seventies which also starred Dan Aykoryd & John Belushi. Murray also starred In "Stripes" along with Harold Ramis and John Candy.
The baby is played by twins. I think there's a rule in Hollywood that younger actors had to be twins so they did not have to work long hours.
There's no rule, it just makes sense because babies can only work very short hours.
just like it was in the first Harry Potter movies, they were only allowed to film 4 hours per day I think
One of them passed away a couple years ago :(
There are rules about work hours for children.
Using twins is the work around for making the film day longer
@@StayFractalesque And even if a baby only appears for a few minutes in the finished film, much more time can be wasted on the filming itself. Multiple takes, etc., because you can't get everything right in that first take. So that's why it's better to use twins, so that one can rest while the other is working and the break works better. Also, I assume that the parents/guardian of the babies is always present to reassure them if the situation arises, because babies are babies. They do not work like kids, teens and adults.
Peter MacNicol is always great in any role, comedic or dramatic. I first encountered him in Sophie's Choice and everything since, including his more recent roles in White Lotus season 2, VEEP (brilliantly profane and fun) and more.
Funny that Simone mentions Walter Peck …erhead being back, in light of the latest Ghostbuster movie.
What I love is nuggets like the guest from Venkman's psycho show at the beginning. He actually predicted the events of the film without being taken seriously.
Hey, photographer here, the camera at 15:15 is a real medium format camera called 'Brooks-Veriwide camera' it was used since it fit the Ghostbusters tech style.
The slime was made of Methocel, which is used as an emulsifier and thickening agent in milkshakes, among other uses.
At my dad’s old office in downtown Cincinnati, they had a full-size silk-screen mural of Viggo the Carpathian hanging in one of the common areas 😊
The guy with the great hair that George notice was Bobby Brown. Originally from New edition and then went solo and married Whitney Houston
Possibly one of the most underrated films ever made.
19:24 That guy with the awesome hair is Bobby Brown who sang the new Ghostbusters song that was playing during that scene for the soundtrack.
"He is Vigo!!!"........"Legend" 1985 and “The Fountain” 2006….would love your take on The Fountain especially. Thank You Cinebinge!!!
The kid at the birthday party at the beginning was played by the directors son.
For 'different roles' of Peter MacNicol, his first film credit was Dragonslayer, where he plays the strapping young luke skywalker type in a fantasy setting. First non-Lucasfilm project to feature ILM as an effects house. Underrated, yet also classic.
I'm flabbergasted that Simone is an Ally Mcbeal fan. That was on when I was a kid. Have never heard of someone as young as she is being a fan of that show
19:20 "That guys hair is awesome!" That's Bobby Brown, the singer. Who was singing the song playing at the time LoL.
