Great work Dennis. I live close to the Lakes and do a lot of photography there. It’s a great place to get up into the hills. Where there are many great treks.
But I love to hear your Geography lessons 😊 Thank you so much for all the information about Lake District 💓💕 Last week we’ve been there and had a wonderful time 💖💓💕
What a perfect way to travel. We will consider mountain goat tours fur sure when we visit the Lake District. We plan to capture some videos thete for our youtube channel. Thank you for this video!
Excellent film, superb quality with your usual great commentary Dennis. A small point though: if this was a TEN lakes tour, did you miss out 1 (or even 2) in your coverage? Windermere, (1) Rydal Water, (2) Grasmere, (3) Thirlmere, (4) Derwentwater, (5) Bassenthwaite Lake, (6? though only seen from a distance at Surprise View, not on your route and not mentioned in the video;) Buttermere, (7) Crummock Water, (8? mentioned, but not shown in the video, nor does it appear to be on your route;) Ullswater, (9) Brotherswater (10)
@@denniscallan Perhaps you should have read the list of lakes in my comment, more carefully. The point was that Bassenthwaite Lake and Crummock Water should not have been included in your professed 10 - you didn't actually travel within miles of them and didn't see them in any way more than a passing glimpse through the trees, so it would be unfair to call it a '10 lake tour', any more than it would be fair to call it an '11 lake tour' just because another lake is visible beyond Windermere, from your stop at the Kirkstone Pass Inn, (it's either Coniston Water or Esthwaite Water, I'm not sure - but what the hell - just cover them both by calling it a '12 lake tour'!
Very nice ! I whish I can come to visit the lake district, it's beautiful ! What is the music you used ? Especially the first track and the piece of music we can listen to at 23:15
Kirkstone Pass runs between Ambleside/Windermere to Patterdale/Glenridding at Ullswater. If you used it to get to Keswick, it would only have formed a small part of your journey, and you'd have had a lot more journeying to do, whichever end of Kirkstone Pass you were starting from!
There's only one lake in The Lake District *THAT CONTAINS 'LAKE' IN ITS NAME* 'waters' and 'meres' are lakes that use the old name for lake (from Cumbric, Old Norse, Anglo--Norman or combinations of them) instead of the modern word 'lake' but they are STILL lakes - you shouldn't take pub-quiz trivia questions so seriously.
Am impressed guys. But please don't call "The Lakes" pretty....rugged, awesome in its original meaning.....finest scenery in the Lakes is Wastwater with Great Gable at the head.....Wastwater...deepest lake 500'.....highest mountain (Scafell Pike 3209') ......followed by Ennerdale with the majestic Pillar and again Great Gable at its head....not the tallest but probably the finest....scramble Westmorland Crags and Pillar Rock via Slab & Notch and you will truly see what the Lakes has to offer.
When people call Windermere lake Windermere they are factually wrong as in old English Mere means Lake so effectively what you are saying is lake Winderlake which is actually bad English
I worked in Grassmere and I can tell you only go in the spring or summer. The locals do not like outsider's out of tourism time. Sure the hotels are happy if they get Autumn n winter bookings. But if you work there during the darker months you get to see the true local mood. There is alot of paganism and spooky goings on dating back thousands of years.
Allan Miller what a load of bollocks, the weather isn't great but Autumn and Winter can be stunning.paganism and spooky, My family live in various towns and villages all over the lakes and this superstitious nonsense doesn't exist any more than everywhere else, it's mainly in the minds of the gullible.
The stone circles and pre Christian magical aura of The Lake District is part of what makes it different and so uniquely beautiful. Paganism is the indigenous belief system of these isles. Everyone who visits the lakes, becomes a nature worshiping pagan for the duration of their visit.
Lake District isn't the same without wind and rain, that's when I love it the most
Wow nice look too much nice enjoy your life.
That route from Ambleside to Keswick on the A591 is my favourite drive anywhere..its simply stunning. I thoroughly recommend it!
I agree but the A470 give it a good run under the Mach loop, well worth a trip buddy
Love your knowledge and appreciation to our lovely country
Good video. Charming & vivid picture attracts our mind to visit this Place.
Thank you for a superb "armchair" tour of this beautiful region!
its my dream destination for my retired life, i made upmy mind after watching this video
Lovely and informative 👍
Oh,how I love your videos Mr Callan .Just breathtaking.
The Lake District in the autumn/fall is an especially beautiful place as the greens turn to browns and deep reds as the leaves begin to change colour.
Very comprehensive tour of the Lake District. Wonderful tour. Thanks for showing us.
Beautiful images!!
Love how clear and sharp the video is! Great footage.
perfect tour at Lake District . thank you for your video

Wonderful
I found this looking for information on the district 9 sequel. Was not disappointed.
“Many other sites to see like the old bridge” yes I do love to go see the old bridge 😂
great video, im glad i had the chance to touch the stone henge stones before they locked it off.
No Stone Henge here. I think you're confused.
Yes we do get our water from Thirlmere, just turn on the tap and there it is, I think it goes through a treatment plant first
Excellent film, superb quality with your usual great commentary Dennis. A small point though: if this was a TEN lakes tour, did you miss out 1 (or even 2) in your coverage?
Windermere, (1)
Rydal Water, (2)
Grasmere, (3)
Thirlmere, (4)
Derwentwater, (5)

Buttermere, (7)

Ullswater, (9)

Thank you so much for paying attention and counting, but your list of lakes in the videos is 10 lakes.

Great video. I love your voice, you sound like Kermit the 🐸 ❤
There are actually some restrictions. The Lake District National Park Authority can advise.....
nice vid tick
This is excellently done. I really like how you cut in the maps.
Very nice ! I whish I can come to visit the lake district, it's beautiful ! What is the music you used ? Especially the first track and the piece of music we can listen to at 23:15
most of the music is performed by jsayles, all free to download if you google him, at family pages.
English Renaissance music of the 1400s to early 1600s.
What happened to Coniston Waters? That is one of the most famous and in my view the most beautiful.
Nice
18:08 was that a sherpa hoodie? WHere is Sherpa? Key must be there as well!
Does it get snowy like the alps in the winter?
It does quite often. Though not as much snow. There are no ski resorts there
What time of year did you visit?
It was in May.
I went through kirkstone pass to get to Keswick

A funny thing about the Lake District is that they are all Meres and Waters, not lakes......

There's only one true lake in the Lake district. .... Is nobody guessing?
Answer- Bassenthwaite Lake. All the rest are Meres, Tarns, or waters.

Wow, that is a very impressive list, you know what you are talking about. I'm keeping a copy of this for my next visit, thanks.
Wast water is my favourite lake. Quite desolate but stunning scenery. Not 500’ deep though, more like 240’. Great video Dennis
