You don't go from kissing him after fantasizing about having a romantic musical with him to "no we're just friend, go have sex whoever you want, I'll do the same" without some serious self doubt. I also suspect the V serum has done a few thing because it is after she took the dose that she rejected Frenchie.
Wouldn't say it has nothing to do with the story. This scene conveys Kimiko's hopes and desires which is going to dictate her actions later on in the show.
All the characters in this show are very well written but the director does the best job translating Kimiko's character onto the screen. I mean, this little moment makes you happy and sad at the same time.

And then Frenchie immediately runs out the door and straight into that Russian mob lady. This season the boys all seem to be sabotaging their relationships; butcher pushing away Ryan to “protect him”, MM abandoning his daughter to chase his obsession with Solider boy, huggie fixated on “saving” starlight so he can feel powerful despite her just wanting him to be there for her, and now frenchie seemingly going back to his old ways cause he’s afraid of that idealic life with kimiko he dreamed of. It’s like watching a truck drive off a cliff in slow motion and you can only wince as you watch it fall further each week.
Fr. People really believed the writers threw their relationship out of the door before the season even ended. I wasn’t a fan of Frenchie’s storyline in S4 but it worked out in the end (minus the cliffhanger lol) This and X-Men 97 are great examples of never judging a show until its season finishes
The show is great because of the nuances and innocent moments like this which shows humanity and the beauty of human beings. We lost all that in season 4 😢
Season 4 threw me for so much of a loop that I had to go back and watch the previous seasons, and it threw me even harder, realizing how hard they ended up railroading this ship out of the blue.

If they get back together now, it will feel just as forced as Frenchie suddenly having a gay love interest.
I think this is one of the few times in the show where they dont use the bleak, kind of less colorful filter the show has the rest of the time and you can notice the scene is a lot brighter and colorful

But he believes she won't and their love scene would be more awkward like a teenager's first time, or maybe like Hughie and Annie. Again, thought all that before the end of the episode, so i know that won't happen... would have been a sweet scene though to contrast the Supes or both Butcher and Mauve.

@@wontonschannel Not really, Kimiko was about to visit Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko's actress) Said that on this season it would be revealed the reason why Kimiko doesnt talk and guess what Frenchie also has some stuff troubling his mind, his murders , and they will bond once again, telling each other's traumas/problems, Colin is the link so that we know why Kimiko doesn't talk because of his fling makes Frenchie realize that he is actually a monster and Kimiko will tell it otherwise its all so obvious, last season no one said it was bad writting that Kimiko said that they are just friends, but now its bad writting apparently, its not bad writting its bad attention span and even worse logical sense
He technically did the opposite, he literally does exactly what she tells him to do. Unless you mean ignoring her to turn himself in, that was bad.
