Dude. His delivery when asked if he has kids, that's got to be one of the funniest things they've ever done. I can't believe it doesn't get more laughs.
@@seventhevan I always loved that moment too and apparently it wasn't supposed to happen. The cop actor drove off earlier. His reaction was perfect. They talked about it in the podcast
Id say outside of Dee's antics, this is the most kindhearted thing the gang has tried to do. I swear frank saluting the Soldier with Kiss from a rose playing will always kill me 😂
Roddy Piper was the man and by far the nicest person i ever met in my 10 years as a pro wrestler. I couldn't help but gush over his performance in They Live, and every time i bumped into him, he remembered me. Sometimes, meeting your heroes is a good thing. R.I.P. Roddy.
The Trashman alone makes this episode iconic, but it has great moments throughout. Plus it's filled with some of my favorite side characters. Cricket, Artemis, The Maniac, and were introduced to Ben. Absolute banger of an episode Speaking of side characters, next week has another one of my favorites
Fun fact: Roddy Piper's reaction to being dragged off by the car during his speech is all real! The driver just moved from the shot too quickly, but they thought it was even funnier that he got interrupted,so they kept it! Love Roddy, hope he's resting in peace. The maniac loves you. Honestly though,it's real fucked up if you think about it,that they made an episode about a wrestler with mental issues who is implied to have done something to his kids not even two years after the whole Chris Benoit thing. Don't know if it's intentional tho.
I never thought of it in that way. I thought of it as he had kids but either they died tragically (maybe that was his downward spiral) or that his kids disowned him (more likely).
@@stingersplash It never crossed my mind before watching this reaction either! It could be just a bad read of a joke that has nothing to do with real events
The introduction of Da' Maniac and Ben the Soldier couldn't be more perfect! Cricket and Artemis to top it off as well. Love this episode, like Eric said it has everything, cringy, hilarious, the gang being awful, the Trash Man and jean shorts! Such a great episode. Love Da' Maniac so much, Roddy Piper's delivery is perfection. Your reaction to Dee getting smacked was so good.
The "jean shorts" just reminded me that they are close to the introduction of another recurring character in Season 6 who they should hopefully recognise (the actor played a major character in another show they watched and loved, but he's very different in Sunny).
Seeing Cricket finally get some sweet payback on the gang for how much they've ruined his life was honestly really satisfying, especially Dee getting hit with the chair (also, the way Artemis yells "Yeah, BITCH!" in response cracks me up every time). And then Frank's arrival as the Trash Man is just absolutely brilliant. The last 5 minutes of this episode are probably the best ending to any It's Always Sunny episode in my opinion, and this reaction just did not disappoint.
"I saw a guy pick up a trash can, smashed it into a guy's head, blood went everywhere." I'm just know realizing that Frank was foreshadowing what would happen at the end of the episode.
I don't remember hating Dee as much, but rewatching from their perspective I totally understand their resentment for Dee growing with each episode. And then watching them cheer when she gets bashed in the face with a chair, I was also cheering for it.
@@TheBlarggle yes because the strong, brave thing to do would be to continue watching a show you don't enjoy for weeks of your life for no reason while also knowing that your dislike of the show is detracting from their friend's enjoyment of it. that sounds super brave to do
One of my favourite episodes being a huge wrestling fan. From the introduction of Ben The Soldier and Da Maniac (RIP Hot Rod) to the great appearances of Artemis and Cricket to Frank being the greatest to ever step in the ring 😅
Fun fact. When the Maniac was telling the cop driver to wait, that was really Rodney saying them because he wasn't finished with his lines and they kept it like that.
Ironically, jean shorts are an ideal gift for s wheelchair user because we need to remove the back pockets from our pants (so we don’t spend 16 hrs sitting on seams) and theyre the only types of shorts which reliably have stitched on, instead of built in, pockets.
I wish Eric could have talked Rick into reacting to this episode. I know he wasn't a big fan of the show but I think he would have enjoyed this episode.
Crazy thing about Sunny is you could put season 5 up my against any other modern sitcom and its lopsided. They were really competing with themselves in terms of writing and acting. S5 forever in my top 3 Sunny seasons. The absurdity, funny and silly meshed so well in a less politically inclined time in America

The reaction to Dee getting hit in the face with a chair is priceless
I love that Calvin just straight-up cackled at that moment. It was amazing. 🤣
Rowdy Roddy Piper is easily one of the best guests on this show and such an underrated actor. His comedic timing is perfect.

Blind wave in season 1: damn they are really mean to Dee wtf 😥
Blind wave in season 5: I fking hate that dumb bitch 😤
Your reaction to Dee getting chaired in the face by Cricket.....It.....It warms my heart, man.
The chair to Dee's face and pocket sand to Dennis's face is one of the most cathartic moments of television history! This episode is amazing!

And then I start eating garbage.
In the Always Sunny podcast the guys told some great and crazy stories about Roddy Piper that you should listen to. Rest In Peace Roddy Piper!
This is such a classic episode. Also the introduction of two new recurring characters: Da Maniac and Ben the Soldier

Roddy Piper as maniac is one of my favorite performances ever on this show
I think Eric at 17:21 symbolizes the true Sunny experience 😂
one of the most iconic episodes imo
Can't believe none of them knew Roddy Piper, not even Eric who seems to know wrestling. Have they never watched They Live?
Throw it on the movie reaction poll, it'd actually be a great one to discuss! That fight scene!
Yessss I’ve been asking for a They Live reaction for weeks. I think they’d love it “either put on these glasses or start eating that trashcan” 😂
To their credit, he looks completely different with long hair and a goatee. I don't think I recognized him at first either first time I watched.
@@Cookieboy70 You can't not recognize that voice
