5:32 Just look at the state of that!
British roads have gone so crap over the past decade. Much as I hate SUVs, I understand why people drive them now. For a bus route this is unacceptable. For a cycle route, this can be positively dangerous!

Даже не верится, что двухэтажные автобусы могут так быстро ездить. Пусть даже и по направляющим...

Good video. A great option where right of way is narrow.

The guided bits are around sixteen miles long but the routes continue on normal roads at either end. I can walk a couple of hundred yards to the nearest bus stop in St Ives and wait no more than around ten or fifteen minutes for the next bus. From there it drives into St Ives town centre and then joins the guided track onwards to Cambridge. At the other end, it leaves the track and either goes to the city centre as shown in this video, or to Addenbrookes hospital, which is on the other side of the city.

+soundnicetome Ah yes. The Drummond Street to St Ives railway line. Did you use it much in the past?

They work as a hybrid solution to allow the vehicles to use both a guided line and the street. This isn't such a backwards step but more of a sideways one.
It certainly prevents the years of disruption that tramway construction creates, helps to prevent the need for visually intrusive catenary, particularly in architecturally sensitive areas and the buses are lighter. Some of those streets also look incredibly tight.
My criticism would be that none are hybrid or fully battery electric vehicles which could help reduce CO2, NOx and dirty PM emissions. Battery charging could be done using OHLE lines along the buaway tracks.
